Welcome to K9 Stay and Play– your dog’s home away from home.

I understand that traveling and leaving your dog behind is stressful and I am here to ease that stress on you and your family. My name is Sal Perniciaro and I currently work for Heart Of Chelsea Animal Hospital as a client services representative (soon to be doctor’s assistant). This all started when one of my clients of the hospital had asked me to watch his dog while he and his wife went on a much needed vacation. He was not happy with his dog being at a boarding facility or with him being in such close proximity to numerous dogs where sickness or accident was bound to happen. He wanted his dog to be in a home and have the same care he knew and loved to be received by his veterinary staff. I happy accepted his dog into my home whole heartly and its been great ever since.

Native of Queens, New York; Sal is a recent graduate of Hofstra University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology. Currently 23 years old he enjoys outdoor activities such as surfing, skiing, boating and anything that will get his adrenaline pumping. He has a 5 year old German Shepherd named Rocky (featured in the photo section). His love for animals is not only a hobby but it is his job. Sal works at Heart Of Chelsea Animal Hospital in Manhattan, New York where he is a member of the client services team and soon to be a doctor’s assistant. Every member of your family who is brought into his home becomes apart of his family; and that is how they are cared for.

Let’s face it… finding a good boarder in NYC can be stressful. I don’t really like the mass boarding places because I think there are usually WAY too many dogs there and not enough employees to take care of them all. That being said, my dog Cocoa’s veterinarian recommended Sal to me and I am so grateful that they did!!! I cannot rave enough about how amazing Sal and his family are. I would recommend him to anyone looking to board their dog. They have two dogs of their own and my dog Cocoa gets along with them very well and I know that every time she goes there, she is WELL taken care of and I never seem to really worry because I know she is in great hands. I’m so happy that she gets the attention she needs while staying at Sal’s and I’m pretty sure they love her just as much as she loves them! In addition, I LOVE the fact that Sal comes and picks Cocoa up and drops her off… such great service. There have been many times that I have not been due to arrive back home until late on the night Cocoa is due to be dropped off and so I just leave my keys with my doorman and Sal goes and drops her off safe and sound. Completely trust them with everything 100%. I highly, highly recommend utilizing the services they offer. Thanks for everything Sal… I know Cocoa cannot wait to come back again soon!

Sal was amazing, our puppy misty stayed with Sal over labor weekend, she was so well looked after and we received photos over the weekend. I would highly recommend Sal and will definitely use his services again.

We were so thrilled with the care that our dog received while she stayed with Sal and his adorable dog clan. Sal texted us pictures throughout the week and updated us about her general well being. We felt that our pet was loved and given the type of attention that we would provide. Thanks Sal!

Sal was really wonderful with my dog. He was recommended by Heart of Chelsea and took my dog in with short notice. Sal kept in constant contact and remained very responsive whenever I reached out while I was away. He took great care of my dog and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to board their dog.

Sal is A M A Z I N G
I’ve now left my goldendoole puppy, Wally, with Sal twice. I was updated daily (per my request) with videos and photos. Wally was able to play with Sal’s dogs and got wonderful outdoor activity during his stay. Sal brushed his teeth, trimmed his nails and made sure he was a happy and healthy boy. We met Sal through Heart of Chelsea and when we see Sal, Wally goes bananas!
I have zero reservations when it comes to having Sal take care of my baby boy!

Sal did a great job taking care of my Mini Aussie, Tiff.
Due to a last minute issue, I was not able to board her at the usual spot and I contacted Heart of Chelsea to see if they had any recommendations. Luckily, I learned that Sal, who works there, would be able to board Tiff in his home. Not only that, pickup and drop off was included as well.
Sal was punctual and Tiff came back happier than ever, also exhausted from all her playtime and is currently sleeping in the corner.
I absolutely recommend, and Sal will be my first choice for any future stays!

Sal is amazing.
He was kind enough to board my 2 cats when I had to leave town at the last minute.
I had never boarded them before, so I was a bit nervous. I really lucked out. Sal works at my vet, and I could tell as soon as I met him that he was completely trustworthy. He was great about keeping in touch with me while I was gone and put my mind totally at ease. My cats are quite shy but he was very patient with them. He picked them up and dropped them off which was super helpful, plus he’s so affordable! It was a great experience and I will absolutely go to him the next time the need arises.

Sal came into our life at the perfect time and we are so grateful to have someone so caring and trustworthy to care for our dogs when we are out of town. My dog Sara had to have emergency surgery two days before I was scheduled to leave for my best friend’s wedding and my vet (at Heart of Chelsea Animal Hospital) recommended we have Sal care for her while she recovered so both my husband and I could still attend the wedding as we originally planned. While we were away Sal sent us pictures and updates to ease our nerves and showed us the amazing progress Sara was making while he cared for her. The second time Sal watched our dogs we had a death in the family and had to extend our trip. Sal was completely accommodating and went out of his way to find their food of choice and make them feel right at home. Our dog Sandi was scheduled to have dental work done during our extended trip and Sal was generous enough to take her to her appointment and care for afterward including hand feeding her while her mouth was sore. Sal’s love for animals combined with his expertise from working at the animal hospital make him the perfect person to to care for your pets when you cannot, I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Sal is great — we met him through our vet and he’s watched our dog Hudson a couple times. For me, it’s all about Hudson… and Hudson loves this guy. Seriously I think he has a heart attack every time he lays eyes on Sal.
Importantly, given Sal works at the animal hospital, he is good to have around in case something goes wrong when we’re gone. Sal is also way cheaper than any dog kennel, so everyone wins. Hudson gets a fun weekend, and I get peace of mind at a reasonable price.
Highly recommend!
