I used Flat Price Movers this summer and could not be happier. I would 100% recommend them. They were professional, courteous and above all did a great job. I would definitely use them again. Thank you Flat Price…

I am actually moving today from Manhattan to Maryland and I was going to use this company. When the supervisor of the move arrived this morning, he told me that the quote I’d been given was wrong. They would have to charge me an extra $ 75 a floor to carry a bookshelf down 6 flights of stairs, instead of the $ 25 (total) I’d been told by the company in their «binding» quote. He told me that their saleswoman was not authorized to give me the $ 25 charge for moving the bookshelf, as though this was my fault. I’m sorry, but if a company gives someone a binding quote that is wrong, the company should have to eat the charge.
Furthermore, when I tried to call them in advance of the move to update my inventory list, I was told that because Jessica, the saleswoman I dealt with previously, was not there, I’d just have to wait to get a new quote once everything was on the truck. This definitely seemed sketchy.
Lastly — and this is actually in their contract — they don’t accept credit card payment for the actual move, which is kind of a pain. We had to get get a certified check from the bank.

I received an estimate from Flat Price Moving & Storage, Inc. (
) for $ 1412.40 to move my one bedroom apartment from Rollinsford, NH to Oakland, CA. This was based on 9 items of furniture and 20 boxes, an estimate I made before packing. After packing, I had more boxes than I thought, and I realized the price would be more. I did not expect, however, that it would become $ 3627, more than double the estimate.
When given the estimate I asked what the transit time was, how long it would take my shipment to reach my destination, as I wanted to be sure I was there first. I was told 7 days. They packed the truck and left my old house on 5÷25÷2010. They did not arrive until 6÷16÷2010. I contacted the dispatcher multiple times, and was been promised calls back that never came. I have had no response to my emails.
I received no explanation for the delay, no information on my belongings’ whereabouts, and no apology. The dispatcher eventually told me they legally have 12 to 14 days to deliver. Since I was initially told 7 days, I believe this a breach of verbal contract. The driver did finally contact us a week after he was supposed to arrive to say he was in Colorado, and had to go to Texas, in the opposite direction of California, first! When asked why this was happening, the dispatcher said «I have no idea why he is going to Texas.» This is unacceptable customer service. It is very frustrating to be kept in the dark.
Within this moving truck were the contents of my office. I work remotely for a tech support firm, and was supposed to be working again by June 4^th. This delay negatively impacted my livelihood, yet Flat Price Moving & Storage seemed to neither care nor be interested in expediting my shipment any way they could.
Finally, after receiving my stuff, (the driver would not unlock the truck until i had handed him the second portion of my payment, cash only), I discovered half of my boxes crushed, my grandmother’s antique lampshade destroyed, and several irreplaceable glass items broken. the glass items were triple wrapped in newspaper and bubble wrap, and packed in a box that said in large clear lettering «Fragile — Dishes».
These people are a total scam and I would never ever choose them for your moving needs.
