Surfside Hotel and Suites

A friend and I stayed at Surfside for Spookybear weekend and it was fantastic. The room was clean, the beds were SUPER comfortable (most important thing about a hotel, in my opinion), the rates were very affordable, and it was less than a mile walk to the heart of Ptown. The front desk staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the continental breakfast was an added bonus. We’ll definitely be back!

As someone who has traveled extensively for work and school, I can 100% say my experience here was the most horrific ever. I arrived at the hotel with my two friends around 9pm on the date of my check in, and the hotel seemed quaint and the staff member was actually really friendly and helpful. She said that check out was at 11am the next day, but that we could leave our things there and use the hotel pool and beach the all day and leave our things locked in the lobby. The hotel was overpriced for what it was, but what I expected for a hotel in the cape. The TV didn’t work, but we were only there for one night so that didn’t matter to us. We put our things in the room and left the hotel to find some food/​drinks further down Commercial Street as soon as we got there, then came home around 1:30am and went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to my friend shutting off the toilet as the toilet overflowed and flooded the bathroom/​parts of the room. I called the emergency number the hotel listed immediately, only for the person to yell «WHAT DID YOU DO» on the phone then sigh and say they would come up and try to fix it (this was at about 3:30am). An elderly couple arrived to try and fix the toilet, but really sat there arguing with us and blaming us for what happened. Not once did they apologize that we were woken up to our room completely flooded in the middle of the night. Then they said they would need a plumber to fix it, and simply left the room saying that we’d have to use the public bathrooms downstairs. They left us… in a room soaked with toilet water… with nothing covering the toilet water which had leaked all over the carpet… overnight. That’s right. in a room flooded with poop water and no working toilet (Best $ 356 ever spent!!). It’s not even that there weren’t any other rooms, the hotel said there were vacancies out front. The next morning while we were using the downstairs toilets since the plumber still hadn’t come and nothing had been resolved, and we overheard the staff members (particularly the elderly woman who came to our room the night before) talking about us. It was 10:30am at this point and check out was at 11am, and they kept complaining that we hadn’t checked out yet behind our backs. The elderly woman kept saying «they can wake me up at 3:30 in the morning but can’t check out on time» as if I woke them up for fun. As I checked out and felt the whole room staring at me, the staff member checking me out asked me how my stay was. I started to explain that I had a really poor experience but she cut me off, smiling, and said «have a nice day Kristen». Why did you ask me about my experience was in the first place then??? We ended up leaving instead of staying for the day because we were so uncomfortable. I’ll be sure to come back to Provincetown, but I will never come back to this hotel.

Bottom line I would stay here again. This place is quiet and well run with access to the bay. There is a fire pit which we often had to ourselves and it is nice to have free parking outside your door. The WiFi worked great and the breakfast was fine.
The downside was the room was fairly pricey for what it is and in need of a refreshening. It is about ¾s of a mile from the center of town so I ended up losing weight on my vacation. Oh wait — that is a plus! Think about bringing a bike if you are staying more than a few nights.

Just had a wonderful stay at the Surfside hotel & suites! We were looking for a conveniently located hotel that was pet friendly and could accommodate a small group for my bachelorette party weekend! We wanted something away from all the action that we could retreat to yet was close to downtown. Surfside was all of that and more!!! The «ocean view» description does not do it justice. Our slider opened right to a lovely shared deck right on the beach! Our neighbors were really friendly too! It could not have gotten more tranquil. There was also a lovely fire pit and beautiful pool with new comfy lounge chairs which we did not get a chance to use (too cold while we were there) but it looked amazing! There are also lounge chairs on the beach. I love the pet friendly, outgoing community of Provincetown! We had such an amazing time and I will definitely stay again next time we visit. The only downfall was the people above us were pretty heavy walkers and I’m a light sleeper but that can happen anywhere. I’m so glad to have found this gem that I felt inspired to leave a review! Thank you Surfside! You made our stay a memorable experience.

My husband and I decided to come here for his birthday in April. My birthday is may 1^st so it was a celebration for me as well! This was our second visit to ptown and first in the off season. It was also our first time staying at Surfside.
We were greeted warmly at check in by the hotels general manager. The GM was extremely welcoming, friendly, and professional. She started our trip out on a perfect note and made us forget all about our troubles in the P and B bus (a different review).
The hotel GM offered us an upgrade to a beach front room and encouraged us to
get the first floor! We entered our room and it was beautiful and warm! perfect for the offseason! There was also a pool for the summer and a bar joined with the front desk. I didn’t visit the bar, but the bartender/​front desk (?) seemed friendly and a nice quiet place to relax.
One thing that we loved about the room was how well they used the space. Some hotel room with small space arrange everything to feel smaller and trapped. This hotel uses everything to make the guest feel comfortable. The shower was very big and warm.
Now for the best part! We opened the sliding doors to see a small beach outside and walked down to the water. It was beautiful and worth the cost of upgrade!
Our second trip to ptown was perfect and we have surfside to thank! We ill definitly be back!

What a great place to stay while in Provincetown. my partner and I stayed there for a few days in September as a get away in the middle of our vacation to Providenice. We had a room on the water side of the hotel with amazing and breathtaking views of the bay.
We chose this hotel from the reviews online and that our room also came with whale watching tickets (I highly recommend doing that while there.) The room was very nice, a comfortable bed and quiet. The breakfast in the morning was very good and I liked that each day was different. There was ample parking across the street behind the other part of the hotel.
The nightly fire pit was also enjoyable, sitting in the surrounding chairs listening to others chat and having them bring you into the conversation made it quite comfortable. I can say for sure on our next visit there, we will be staying again at the Surfside.

We went to Ptown week of aug 18. Saw the reviews on another website and pictures on hotel website. Even at $ 300 a night, we said sure, why not.
We checked into our room… not on the beach side. Wow, it’s like a motel. Very disappointing…
We ended up paying another $ 50 to stay at a room in the bldg on the beach. A little better, but still like a motel room.
Anyway, considering how nice Ptown is in August, you’ll have a good stay but just set your expectations appropriately for this hotel, and you’ll be fine.
I would say though the staff is nice enough (otherwise would have a 2 star rating) and the hotel is located just right, far enough from center of town if you don’t all the craziness, and close enough for a short walk into it.

$ 10 per person if not a guest. Lovely pool is heated and salt water and faces the quiet east end of commercial street. Easy to park, plenty of it. The fee includes towels and plenty of hospitality front befriend desk. Would do this again on a cool summer day.

Elaine and her staff were absolutely amazing! All of our family and friends were raving how perfect Surfside was. We booked a large number of the ocean front rooms and had our ceremony on the Surfside’s beach. Elaine and her staff went out of their way to make our celebration a memorable event. They even did a great job decorating the trellis for the ceremony. Everything went perfect. We couldn’t imagine a better location for our wedding!!!
We’re looking forward to returning for many anniversaries. Many of our family and friends now have a new favorite cape cod hotel!!!

Spacious suite, great beach front location. I got a great deal through a travel site for the week after Memorial Day and it was not yet in season, so it was empty and we were put in a wonderful beach front room. It was late and cold when we arrived and we almost thought we were sent to the wrong room because the lights were on, but the key let us in and we realized they just turned it, as well as the heat, on for our arrival — great touch. The friendly desk staff made great recommendations and we ended up next door at Fanizzi’s for dinner both nights during our stay because it was delicious. On a nice day, it’s a quick walk to the action of the downtown area shopping and restaurants, but I preferred staying a little farther away from that in a nice relaxing room at Surfside!

Please note that my previous 2 reviews were for their reservation and customer service relating to that. We just completed our stay there and I think I owe another review about our stay there.
I wanted to love them and give them 6 stars I really did. But I have to say they are a motel. Clean, well-​kept but… a motel. Nice access to beach. Good for people traveling with dogs and I will recommend to my friends to go here. The décor was tastefully done and the rooms well maintained. The view was good, the shared balconies weren’t my favorite but I understand there isn’t much they can do about it. Parking was easy. The rooms were small and cramped. We were on the top floor near the elevator.

About the room and why I took off the 2^nd star: In our previous communication and while I booked I asked for the corner room, the manager committed to giving us a room 1 from the corner since that one was booked. That was not honored! I even had the email to show. The lady at the desk said, well things change. I appreciate she was polite, but I am sorry to say that that’s why you make bookings. When you mention and I quote «I’m sorry the corner rooms have been reserved, I have you in a room one away from the corner.» you value that and you put us in «a room one away from the corner», not say you can be in a corner room in the groundfloor or there’s one in the middle on the top floor… you just don’t do that.

Here’s why I took off the 3^rd star: the breakfast. OMG. The worst hotel breakfast you can ever imagine. Very limited options, very very limited. The «hot breakfast» was something mentioned multiple times on their website etc. and in the name of hot breakfast they had biscuits and gravy the gravy tasted like metal and smelled of camphor. There was an older gentleman near the waffle stations, he was a little, well, not friendly. But that scary tasting gravy on soggy yeasty biscuits makes clouds all the other bad experiences there. My husband got sick after the breakfast. I had to skip lunch, because of that lingering distaste.

And coming back full circle, it is a motel… I repeat that because somewhere I expected it to be slightly higher end. We got a 2 nights for 1 deal and glad we did. It was NOT a bad experience. I would recommend it to my dogfriendly friends looking to get away for a weekend… but I would never ever pay full price for that room.

Let me start with the pros. We stayed at this place because it was pet friendly and I had to bring my two Chihuahuas with me. It’s nice that they have a big parking lot. That’s about where it stops.
The first room that we were booked in was towards the water, and the room itself was very small. It felt very cramped with two people and two dogs. The hotel staff obliged our request to move to a larger room that was on the pool side of the hotel. This room was larger and more comfortable.
In general, the rooms are very dated. There were visible patches on the drywall, there is an air conditioning unit in the wall that controls the heat and the coolness. It is very hard to get at a comfortable temperature, it’s either too hot or too cold and when you run it is very loud. The rooms themselves are not insulated very well, you can hear people very loudly walking around outside or dogs barking and people having sex. The remote control was sticky when I picked it up.
I thought this hotel would be closer to Commercial Street but it wasn’t. Where this hotel is located not much is going on unless you’re really into being on the beach. We tried to watch TV, except I found it rather distracting that they had a big Panasonic HDTV, but no HD cable so everything was in a grainy standard definition.
The breakfast buffet is free, which is nice, except it’s not very appetizing. French toast seem like it had been frozen defrosted, the waffle batter was totally bland, and the sausage patty tasted and looked like mystery meat. I guess you get what you pay for.
We booked three days and two nights but checked out after two days and one night, because we found the accommodations to be subpar. All in all, not a repeat experience.

This hotel met our expectations. Walking distance to downtown, dog-​friendly, included parking, affordable and it had additional amenities that we didn’t really utilize ie, free breakfast, pool, beach access, dog shower, bike parking, and bar service on site.
Great ocean views from many rooms but due to it’s motel-​style design it can be very noisy. We were here in the off-​season so this was not a problem but with people walking by, opening/​closing doors, and using the pool/​patio, I could see how this could be a noisy place. Service was friendly but they were only willing to accommodate a check-​out a bit later (11:30am instead of 11am).
Dog fee is $ 20/​night in the off-​season and $ 40/​night in the high season.

My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary, the hotel was nothing spectacular, thin walls, one night we woke to a dance party above our room & were pretty sure the ceiling would give and they would end up in our room! The friendly staff, beach access, dog friendly, and proximity to downtown made this hotel worth it. We met many guests who came back year after year & I think we will too!

This hotel was ok. I was expecting it to be better. The outdoor look of the hotel is old, which is expected in New England… But i don’t know what’s stopping them from up keeping it. The outdoor wooden steps up to the 3^rd floor and the outdoor floors are nasty. The pool is refreshing and nice to have, but the chairs are worn down and dirty. When you sit in the lounge chair your weight then props up the back part of the chair never allowing you to fully really recline. The rooms… Not very clean… Saw some unwanted hairs in the bathroom, the floors seemed dingy and the ac wasn’t cool… Very humid in the air. Did not sleep well due to this. The beds were comfortable though. Breakfast didn’t look good to us… We didn’t eat it, we went elsewhere. However I did enjoy the coffee. Free parking is good… Location is good. Not thinking we will be back though.

Surfside is a great place to stay in Ptown. I organized a bachelorette party and booked 2 rooms, which they were able to reserve next to each other. We arrived early and they allowed us to check in without a problem — bonus points! The rooms were clean and comfortable. We kept our cars parked in the lot and took the bus downtown. The bus stop is right behind the lot and is a quick, cheap ride.
The saltwater pool had plenty of chairs for us to use. The only downside with the pool area is that you cannot bring your own alcohol. They have an indoor bar and only allow you to drink their drinks, which was a disappointment. We did not use the beach because it was very small, but we prefer the pool anyways so that did not bother us.
In the mornings they have complimentary breakfast, which we took advantage of. Nothing fancy, but it does the job. I loved all the outdoor seating (and fire pit) they have available.

We stayed at the Surfside last night.
PROS:
–beachfront and pool
–decent breakfast
–cute décor
–oceanside balconies
–easy drive to P-​Town (easy bike ride if you have a bike)
–air conditioning
CONS:
–could be a little cleaner
–expensive what it is
–needs more beach umbrellas and comfy outdoor chairs

WE, AS A DOG FRIENDLY FAMILY decided to go to Province town on 4^th of July. AND WE are so happy we did. Everything was fully booked on that day, the girl on the front desk called about 10 other hotels and none had a room, after about 20 min of struggling for the room, the Manager was nice to give us a room that other people reserved and did not show up. AND THE BEST THING OF THIS HOTEL THAT IT IS DOG FRIENDLY JUST LIKE ALL THE BEACHES AROUND.
THE ROOM WAS AWESOME: king size bed, flat screen tv, ice cold A/​C, big pool and our favorite breakfast with sausage gravy and waffles, and wi-​fi.
highly recommend this place.

This was my second time at Surfside, but my first since their renovation. The new rooms are beautiful — lovely color choices with modern furnishings. I like Surfside’s location because of the private beach, ample parking, and quiet spot on Commercial. I had a waterfront view and it was delightful to wake up to every morning.
Surfside is not perfect, however — we didn’t have a fan in our room (or bathroom), which seems odd given that the beach location can quickly make your room damp, and the continental breakfast has thin offerings (both mornings I overheard other guests talking about the need to eat an early lunch). Still, it’s a reasonably priced, well-​appointed option in an expensive town. I will likely be back.

You can’t go wrong staying at the Surfside when in Provincetown. This place is near and dear to my heart.
I actually had my wedding preformed on the beach at the hotel. The staff provided a full set up for free and gave us a 1 bedroom suite for the night even though we did not stay at the hotel for the week we were in town.
No matter what any reviewer says, this is the ONLY place that is 100% consistent, clean and provides the best non-​attitude place to stay while visiting Provincetown.
I will have been and will be back Over and Over again…
