The Barking Lot

Simply put, the Barking Lot is as good as it gets. Steve, Cheryl, Jess and the gang take such good care of our boisterous boys, sometimes we think they like it better there than at home! We love looking at the photos and videos they post on Facebook. They always have a great time but more importantly, they are always well cared for.

If I could give something less than «no stars» I would. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEIR GROOMING SERVICES!!! Today, I received the worst haircut and customer service in 6 years of having my white schnauzer professionally groomed. 6 years has allowed me enough time to know exactly what his haircut requires and should look like (every single detail). We travel throughout the country for work and have received countless cuts from all over, and a schnauzer pattern is the same everywhere.
Initially, when I spoke with the groomer, he proceeded to tell me that my dog is a westie, as many often mistake him for until they look closely and with less starry eyes. White schnauzers are everywhere. Yes, rare, but everywhere.
My dog hasn’t had a cut in 2 months, which has allowed for more than enough fur to cut him correctly.
When I returned, I asked to see him before I paid. I noticed at drop-​off that the groomer wasn’t very interested in my details, as he expressed that he has cut many schnauzers. Well, why doesn’t my 7 year old schnauzer look like a schnauzer now?
The woman at the front desk proceeds to tell me that he looks more like a westie to her. Ma’am, he is a schnauzer, as I mentioned when I booked the reservation and again at drop-​off. I don’t care if your limited experience hasn’t put a white schnauzer before you in the past. The owner pulls out a book. The book only confirms what I’ve been saying. This cut is horrific and incorrect. It’s uneven, straggly, shapeless, and free of pride. He simply says, «well I don’t know how long his hair was.» I showed him pictures of my white schnauzer when he looks like the schnauzer that he should look like.
Although, I didn’t pay for the cut, there was never any sort of apology. Everyone looked perplexed and dumbfounded. I would have still been upset, but much less if someone would have at least acted like they cared, or at the very least, admittedly understood. Tragic Experience!

Paperwork was very thorough from medical to behavioral profile. The staff seemed very friendly and gave a cheerful individual greeting to each dog that came in while I was there.
When I picked my dog up, he fell asleep as soon as he got into the car. The videos and pictures they upload were very telling as to why he was so tired. Lots of playing and running around! No complaints here, we will be back.

I had an incredible experience with The Barking Lot. I am so grateful that I am brought to tears a little bit when writing this. For the pet lovers out there, you know how much you care about your little friends, so you know I am not that weird :)
I recently moved across the country, from Boston to Los Angeles. My two kitty cats were supposed to be brought out via a pet shipping company. Long story short, the company turned out to be a total scam and my babies were not safe :(
Because I was across the country, I needed someone to help me get the cats to safety, so I called the Pet Boarding Agency closest to the original shipper.
Steve rescued my boys. He put them in a safe place, fed them, put a movie on for them, and sent me pictures every step of the way.
On top of that, he helped me get them back to California. He took them to the vet, bought them kennels, and even brought them to the airport. They are safe because of his kindness and empathy. I have never encountered someone who would do so much for two little kitties.
In short, the employees at The Barking Lot care deeply about the well being of animals. I only wish I could do more to thank you, Steve.

My dog and I love the barking lot. Steve, Cheryl and the team are awesome. They have provided boarding and daycare for my dog for a number of years now. The level of care is excellent. They eve post pictures and videos. The barking lot is clean, safe and an all around great place for the four legged family members. I highly recommend the barking lot.

My Dog Loves this place and so do I. He is always excited to go and when he not going he throws a doggie tantrum. The Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about all things DOG. LOVE IT.

The staff is extremely nice and caring. They are so caring for the dogs that they held a vaccine clinic for all to attend. I am so happy I found this place I truly appreciate all that they do!

I’ve been going here for two years and can’t say enough good things about it. The people are simply awesome. The woman who’s usually in charge, Cheryl, is so good with my dog, they just love each other. And the owner, Steven, is really nice, responsible and professional. My dog always comes home happy and exhausted. I feel very lucky and grateful to have such a terrific service available in Providence.

Horrible. Contacted the staff here in mid November to reserve a place for my puppy during Christmas. Completed all the requested, substantial paperwork (immunization, behavioral profile, etc). Contacted the staff a few days prior to the scheduled boarding to confirm some logistical details. Turns out, the staff had lost all records of my reservation and denied that I had ever made one. The manager I spoke to on the phone was completely unapologetic, accusing me of lying about making the reservation and denying all responsibility for her office’s disorganization. Her incompetence and rudeness were shocking. Will never use this organization again. Their inability to maintain basic office organization and management makes me seriously skeptical of their ability to accept even basic responsibility for the dogs in their care.

Cheryl was very helpful I told her I have two dachshund and need a nice shampoo
we got pet head brand at least 5 dollars cheaper then I’ve seen it at one of those big chain stores we also got Kirby a harness Cheryl assured us no problem in exchanging if it did not fit him
place is clean well stocked with leashes collars harness toys and other assorted dog needs.
while there we saw 4 different dog families pick up and drop their pups every one so happy and friendly even the dogs

It was the first time I was boarding my dog, so I was very worried. I was pleasantly surprised at how much my dog loved it in the barking lot. I loved how carefully they checked the shots and medical history of all dogs, and the fact that they treated each dog individually and with a lot of care.
also, they post pictures and videos of the dogs every evening and that made me feel SO MUCH better, seeing how happy my puppy was.

I have been using the Barking Lot over the last couple of months for Doggy Day Care for my 2 year old Labrador. Love Love LOVE The Barking Lot.
I have tried other locations and they simply do not hold a match to it. The staff is moe than happy to take you right into the heart of the action so that you can see what is going on «behind the scene».
The dogs are all temp tested and required to be up to date on all thier shots.
A good dog is a tired dog, and a day at The Barking Lot can make that happen.
Worth every penny.
I have also borded my pup there for one evening. They say she did well and she was sure happy to see us the next afternoon.

This is the best place to board your dog in the Providence area, hands down. You can check on Facebook for uploaded videos of the dogs playing, or just hanging out together. The staff is very caring and accommodating. If you’ll be late, they don’t freak out. They not only run the dogs tired in the play pens, they also walk them regularly. When I pick him up, he’s exhausted for a day or two. When I drop him off, he can’t wait to get in there!

Rosco and I love The Barking Lot!
I bought a groupon for five days of daycare, figuring it would be good to try out. Rosco LOVES it there. As we drive closer, he gets more and more excited. Once we get there, he is greeted by name by almost every staff member. When I pick him up in the afternoon, he is always happy to see me, and VERY well worn out!!!
A few weeks ago, I had to board Rosco while I went out of town, and The Barking Lot took great care of Rosco. He needed to receive some medications, and was thrilled that he got them in hot dogs. ;-) The first night, the staff called to tell me how he was doing (what can I say, I’m a nervous puppy-​mama), which I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciated. Being able to look at the pictures (posted daily) and videos (three times each week) to see what my little guy had been up to made me feel much better about leaving him behind.
Thank you, for taking such good care of Rosco, during the days he’s there, and when I can’t be there for longer periods!!!

This place is a dog lover place. They love my red husky. They tire her out. A tired husky is a good husky.

Very friendly, caring staff.
They really went out of their way to accommodate me and my buddy when we were travelling to RI for a non-​pet friendly wedding.
Bonus points for posting photos regularly of the dogs!

This place shaved my Bichon Frise completely without my consent. They did not even have the courtesy of giving me a call to ask for permission. They just took upon themselves to go the easy way out to steal money from me.
They still charged me $ 65.00 and did not even do his ears. On top of that, the owner did not even have the courtesy to come out and speak with me regarding my complain… My dog was shaking and very scared when I pick him up. This place is the worst place I have seen in seven years of owning a dog.
As an active duty Marine I have the opportunity to live around this country in many areas and this place by far is the most irresponsible dog grooming service and the worst. They do not know how to groom a Bichon!!!

The Barking Lot has been a lifesaver for my family! We first used the barking lot last year to board our pug while we went out of town. I looked forward to seeing the pics and videos on their facebook page. And Tucker was clearly well taken care of!
This week we were displaced from our home after a fire and I am so thankful for the barking lot! We brought Tucker for daycare for several days and then decided to let him go to «camp» as we call it for a few days while we figured out what end was up!
The barking lot took Tucker in and took great care of him! We requested a bath and he came back to us so shiny!
The staff is great and you can tell they love their job! I have nothing but positive things to say about the Barking Lot!

Our dog, Laila, loves The Barking Lot, and so do we. She started going at the end of 2010, and, every time she goes back, you can tell that she is happy with anticipation and looking forward to spending the day there.
The main factor in evaluating doggie daycare is if you can trust the people running and working at the place. When talking to owner, handlers, or receptionist at The Barking Lot, and when seeing their professional demeanor, you can feel they genuinely care for these little creatures.
In addition, the facilities are welcoming and clean, the location is great if you live or work near Providence, and the price is fair.

What can I say? I love my dog :) Two puppy facility reviews in two days? Oh well.
With my family living all the way in South Texas, I tend to leave town for an extended period of two or three times a year. When a friend of mine bailed on puppy sitting last minute, I knew it was time to find a good place to board Rossi.
Of course my first instinct is to call my vet and see who they recommended and it was The Barking Lot. Just to make sure, I called my fellow puppy owners to check and they all recommended The Barking Lot.
The facility is relatively new and is very clean and welcoming to owners and pups alike.
Rossi gets so excited every time I pull into the parking lot so I know she definitely loves going there.
They always have someone on premises to watch and play with the dogs.
A great thing that they do (which I’m sure a lot of other owners appreciate) is that if you ‘like’ their page on FB, they post pictures and videos of the dogs playing every day. Nothing like being able to check in at the end of the day while I’m away and see Rossi playing with the other dogs!
The people that work here are also fantastic, they get along well with the dogs and have even taught me a few things about my dog.
Again, like most pet boarding places, it can be a little steep in pricing but it’s worth it to know that they take such good care of my crazy pup.
