Solid K9 Training

If you have s new puppy, a new dog, an aggressive dog, a friendly dog, any type of dog… If you are planning on bringing it to training classes, or if you have a dog that other training didn’t work for (or a dog that other trainers/​vets/​behaviorists told you to put down), give Solid K9 a call right now. Go to their website and watch some videos. See the passion that they have for helping families and dogs. Yes, they use prong collars and remote collars (along with positive praise, food, toys). Before bringing my dog there, I would have never used a prong or remote collar. But it was because I didn’t understand them. I thought prong collars had sharp points that dug into the dog. I though remote collars just shocked the dog into fearing you. No need to worry. Their are people who misuse these tools, and their dogs fear the collars. But let me tell you, my dog gets so excited when he sees me pull those collars out. He knows we are about to go for an hour walk. A walk in which the dog can relax, and doesn’t choke himself pulling in every direction. Or maybe we are going into the woods, where he can now run off leash, with just the remote collar on. Just watch his videos on the collars if you are against them. Make an educated decision, maybe you still won’t be comfortable with them. But in my opinion, when used the way Solid K9 uses them, they are actually quite humane. Starting off at very low levels for obedience training, they communicate with the dog in a way it can understand. They properly introduce the dog to these tools. On walks, Before the prong, our training classes taught us to carry treats and reward for walking by your side. I don’t necessarily think this is bad. But then when he pulls, we were told to just stop. And then restart when he isn’t pulling. This did not work. Switching directions didn’t work (I’m not saying it won’t work for some dogs, but for mine, it didn’t). It got to the point where I would only walk him at night, because it was a nightmare walking him when other people or dogs were around. We were told to try using steak or hot dogs, that he needed a higher value food reward. This was the point where I decided this training wasn’t for us. I found solid k9 on YouTube while searching videos on walking your dog. We enrolled in the one on one training. Literally, halfway into the first session, we were walking the dog outside, with him by our side. At that point, I fully bought in to this training, and it is so much fun. To actually see results, it motivates you to keep working with your dog. You look forward to working with your dog every day, because you see it working. And to see your dog change and to be able to watch him run around the woods or a beach with no leash, it’s s great feeling. Solid k9 has a great reputation for rehabilitating aggressive dogs, but don’t let that stop you from bringing a non aggressive dog in for training. Our dog was a friendly dog, we just needed help with obedience. And this is real world obedience, what he is trained to do inside, he can do outside. It takes work on your part, and you might be asked to change some of your behaviors, but it is all worth it. Don’t let people tell you that this training will harm your dog, or hurt your relationship with it. It has increased my bond with him. No more stressing out throughout the day with him, or stressing out when people come over. Is he now a sad dog that is shutdown? Hell no, he is still the goofy boy he was before. But he is now a dog that is calm (most of the time, but he’s still a puppy, and has puppy behavior), a dog that most importantly has learned how to control his impulses, instead of just acting out on them. This was all accomplished with 1 on 1 training, so I can only imagine the results that can be attained with the board and train program. Also, if you are a client, you can use them for doggy daycare and for boarding. This is great as you can be sure your dog will be cared for in a proper way, exercised and socialized properly, and he won’t come home with new found bad habits. When we bring him there, our dog gets so excited, he can’t wait to get in there. I could go on and on, but I won’t. Go on their website, their YouTube channel, and Facebook page. Read the testimonials, watch the videos. They are passionate people who save dogs and families. They care so much for families and their dogs that they put out all their training methods for free on YouTube. People literally train their dogs strictly from the videos. So if you have a dog that needs training, don’t let solid k9 be your last resort, make it your first choice. You will not regret it.

Jeff is in Dallas this weekend. He is amazing. Worth the money !!! He handles every dog differently based on what each dog needs. Jeff & his team are quite simply, the best of the best. Jeff is honest, strait forward, supportive, and SO encouraging. Solid K9 is the best thing that ever happened to my dog & myself. I could literally go on for hours about how amazing Jeff & the Solid K9 staff are, but I’ll try to give it a condensed synopsis.
The investment in training with Solid K9 is PRICELESS. I brought my dog to Solid K9 for the board & train program when he was about a year old. Long story short, the entire process was exceptional. They kept me posted on all of his progress and provided status updates constantly. Jeff continues to provide support, answer questions you may have, and genuinely shows that he cares long after the session is done.
I also brought my dog to Solid K9 for day camp until I moved to Maine. Doc & I miss them beyond words. I’m confident that their day camp program is the absolute best day camp program offered anywhere in the U.S. Structured, safe, and just an amazing environment for a dog to be in when they aren’t at home. I still utilize the board & play program whenever I need to leave my dog overnight.
I am forever grateful for everything that Jeff & his crew have taught not only my dog, but also what they’ve taught me as a dog-​Mom; Along with the environment that they provide for all of the dogs that stay with them for camp and boarding. I absolutely recommend Solid K9 Training for anybody who would like to have real communication with their dog. When I sent my rescue dog into Solid K9 he was nervous and fearful to a debilitating level. He was great with people, great with dogs, but absolutely horrible with modern technology. The sound of a car door shutting would send him scrambling for the hills.
After three weeks in the Board & Train program, his confidence had skyrocketed. He is still a naturally nervous dog, but the team at Solid K9 gave him a base level of confidence which I could simply never have provided him in a very short amount of time. They gave us the tools to work together and communicate.
I recently went on vacation and dropped my dog off at the board and play program for the first time since his training. I figured my dog would obviously be nervous and bummed to leave me, but the second he saw the trainers his tail started blasting back and forth like a windshield wiper and he completely forgot who I was. He ran off into the kennel area without even saying goodbye. After that performance my vacation was 100% guilt-​free.

Jeff’s training techniques work phenomenally well. We’ve been able to significantly decrease the occurrence of several undesirable behaviors (for example getting overexcited by guests arriving) and are making great progress towards having our dog reliably come when called while off leash by using Jeff’s training methods.

It doesn’t get better than Jeff. He cuts through all the BS, does NOT enable you to continue makes the wrong decisions (which are the reason you came to him in the first place, let’s be honest if you knew how to train your dog properly you wouldn’t need him) and knows how to work with dogs. Period. He also continues to be accessible and offers incredible support. Both of our dogs went to his board and train, and we can have a 4 hour Super Bowl party and our dogs stay on their beds, play with toys, and interact with guests in a calm manner when appropriate. Some people say letting a dog sleep on your bed or on the couch is «love», but Jeff reminds us that having dogs who can be safe around friends, children and strangers alike mean your dog can be a member of the family forever. And those dogs have to be trained.

Training is good but I ONLY recommend the training classes. NOT the board and train. My dogs needed medical care upon pickup which was reimbursed but I’m still unhappy that they needed the medical care. I would have got my dogs in a heartbeat if I was told they needed to see a vet but I was assured everything was under control… NO it was not. All I got was excuses and how my dogs had medical and behaviour issues prior… just enraged me more. DO NOT BOARD there!!!

Jeff was awesome. We have a rescue dog that had social and aggression issues and food training wasn’t working. We were almost at the point of having to give him up because my husband was being bitten.
He gave us the tools to control the dog without food so we can take the dog out in public without worrying that he will bite someone. He is a much less anxious dog for it. Also very convenient as he comes to you.

Jeff is a wonderful dog trainer. He knows how to train a dog better than anyone I have ever met! I have used the «positive reinforcement trainers» in the past with no luck. I have been to Jeff’s seminars, met him several times, and give him lots of praise. His extensive knowledge helped us with our dog’s behavior issues. Jeff has helped me tremendously with my 2 dogs. He is an excellent trainer and I totally disagree with ther person who said he isn’t. Yes he recommended prong collars and they were a life saver for my dogs. Prior to prong collars my dogs were choking themselves by pulling so hard. I just don’t get people. I have listened to Jeff’s radio show, done training with him, watched his videos and have learned a tremendous amount. Jeff is in the business of saving dogs.

Jeff has helped me and friends of mine with dog training for the past 3 years. Interestingly, I recently went to a shelter to acquire another dog and was introduced to a couple of dogs who were «trained» by rewarding positive behavior and ignoring any misbehavior. These dogs lunged, humped and barked at my dog while we attempted a pack walk. While the staff were giving unsolicited criticism of Jeff, my dog was walking on heel and exhibiting calm and balanced energy.
Based on my experience with 2 rescues with challenging behaviors, I can assure you that Jeff’s methods are humane, efficient and extremely effective. Then, you get to enjoy your dogs’ company and not cause distress in them or you during your time together. Jeff is also extremely accessible for troubleshooting and quick advice. I have emailed or facebook messaged him multiple times and he always responds, usually within 1 day. His methods are easy to use, well-​received by dogs, and work very quickly.
In addition to using Jeff’s techniques with my 2 dogs, I am now adopting another rescue and have helped several friends with dog behavior challenges. It feels really empowering to understand how to work with dogs and provide them with the structure they need. Jeff’s work, both directly and indirectly, saves dogs’ lives every day. Whether you hire him for 1:1 training, send your dog to a board and train, go to a seminar or even call into the radio show, you will get what you need and get on with enjoying your dogs.
