PVD Pudding Pops

Remember those awesome Jello pudding pops? Those delicious treats were a staple in our freezer growing up and I miss the rich, creamy texture so much. Thankfully PVD Pops is here to fill that void with a more adult flavor profile. My first encounter was at a local farmers market this past summer and my coffee milk pop really hit the spot on a hot afternoon. I will agree with some other reviews that I wish the flavor was more intense but it is still tasty. Can’t wait for summer to have more pudding pops!

When I hear an ice cream truck trundling down the street while I’m at home, playing weird songs (lately the trucks that go past my place have been playing Christmas music??? and one time it played the theme from Swan Lake???), I find myself rolling my eyes in the most curmudgeonly of fashions, wishing that they’d take the hint and find some other neighborhood to prowl.
When I see the pudding cart biking past the windows of my workplace on her way to KP or Thayer Street or wherever, however — I get giddy, and filled with childlike glee, and find myself wishing she’d just stop for a second, because man, I want a pudding pop.
I want a PVD Pudding Pop. I want the chocolate chip one with the fresh picked peppermint. No, wait! I want the watermelon and basil one. Actually, are they any new ones? I want one. One of each.
My Grinch heart grew three sizes on the day I found out that she takes credit cards. That was on the day that she was right on the corner outside my work for basically no reason. It must have been destiny.
I was born to eat that pudding pop. Now I have done so, and history is vindicated.
Seriously, these things are phenomenal.

I had the coffee milk and my husband grabbed a mint chocolate chip for himself at the Providence flea market on a hot, hot Sunday… what a treat! I’d recommend buying from this cart next time you see it, you won’t be disappointed!

PVD Pudding Pops are awesome.
So simple & delicious. Definitely get napkins if it’s a hot day. They’re so refreshing & flavorful, I’m on a mission to try them all.
Not to mention she comped us a pudding pop for my 4 year old once since her credit card machine was down & we were outta cash. PVD Pudding Pops deserves 5 stars alone for that!

Coffee Milk and Pineapple Basil are favorites for sure. Tasty, homemade popsicles with none of the gross chemicals you find in the big name store brands.
Price is more than you pay at your corner convenience store but as I said, these are home made and with only the best ingredients.

Got the coffee milk pop today. Not bad but I wish the flavor were stronger. Let it sit for 5 minutes or it will be kinda icy. I may try another flavor but wouldn’t go out of my way for it

The pumpkin chocolate chip was my favorite — but you can’t go wrong with coffee flavored (made from New Harvest Coffee).
I found the Pop Cart at the Armory Street Thursday farmer’s market. Hope to see her next year too.

Stopped by the PVD Pudding Pops bike at the end of an impromptu food truck lunch date with my wife. She had the RI Coffee Milk pop and I had the Coconut Orange Creamsicle (which is dairy free, so I was happy that there was something I could have, too). Very tasty — the little bite of the coffee one was amazing, and the coconut orange one had a very unusual flavor profile which took a bite or two to get used to but I really came to like it.

SO GOOD! SO SO GOOD! i had the ri coffee milk last night … absolutely amazing, will DEF be going back to find her to try more!

This girl is so freakin’ cute. It was a hot summer morning and THIS girl needed an ice cream fix. I explained to the bike-​riding vendor that I wanted one, but was on a «diet». She explained the list of approximately 4 ingredients — milk, cream, sugar and coffee. She was friendly to my pup and my pop was yummy. I finished it while I walked Blackstone Blvd., which helped with the guilt quotient. It was a cheap treat and I got service with a smile. The only thing that would make it better (or perhaps not) was to have the nutrition information available. Thanks PVD POPS!

The mint chocolate chip was totally worth the high ticket price of 3.50 $ a pop. Melt in your mouth minty goodness right there. My hubby’s coffee milk pop was creamy and decadent. Perfect on a muggy summer’s night at movies on the block. I love the whole idea of Pvd pudding pops because they are made with local milk, peddled by a girl as sweet as the dairy products she sells, and convenient because she always seems to be around when I’m craving something cold and delicious. Pvd pops is a great addition to the food truck, er, cart, craze.

Wow– I’m surprised to see so many good reviews on the pvd pudding pops. I had one last night and I can count on one finger how many times in my life I have thrown out a dessert before finishing! I had the chocolate, my friend had the strawberry and cream and neither of us had the whole thing. The ice crystals were very large, it was grainy and had no flavor what so ever. My lips felt raw after only a few minutes of eating it. Pudding pops should be creamy, rich, and full of flavor. I had an icy, grainy yucky all around mess. Not sure I would ever try this again.
I never thought I’d say a mass produced jello brand anything would be better, but jello pudding pops are even better than these. So disappointed :-(

Yum! So glad they offer vegan pudding pops! I had the coconut orange pudding pop, which was delicious. Great treats and the perfect snack for a swelteringly hot day at the farmers market! The lady running the cart is also very outgoing and friendly — lovely meeting you, dear! :)

Firstly, this one-​woman show is freaking awesome — she rids around town on a bike, for cryinouts! Freezer, umbrella, and chalkboard attached, she sets up where she pleases and dols out the pops with a side of smile and a heaping dose of friendliness. I’m not sure what I like better: Val or the pops.
Anyway, my choice on a particularly hot recent day was the orange coconut, which was sublime. Icy, refreshing, just sweet enough and with the faintest similarity to creamsicles, without the heavy cream. It was perfect in texture, flavor, and size. Each pop is hand-​wrapped and clearly labled with the wholesome ingredients.
This is summertime perfection, kids.

So far under my belt I have a Rhode Island coffee milk, orange coconut, butterscotch, mint chocolate chip and green tea. And they were allllll good. (And I do quite literally mean under my belt!) My first reaction is always that I wish the flavors were just a liiiiiittle bit stronger, but then I remember that the flavors are natural and the dairy base is Rhody Fresh milk. Hard to compete with high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors and flavors if what you’re going for is flavor intensity. But that’s not what PVD Pudding Pops is going for. It’s all about REAL food, responsible business, and simply, making people happy. And boy does Val the Pudding Gal make people happy. She’s a hoot and a holler. Funny and intelligent, a gifted conversationalist. And there’s plenty to talk about. Why pudding? Why frozen pops? Why biking? Why Providence? It’s a great story and a great product.

I had the Mangolicious pop and was totally underwhelmed. It just tasted completely… blah. It was like sucking on a block on frozen cream, no sweetness and certainly no mango flavor whatsoever. I ate about a quarter of it and gave the rest to my canine friend – he thoroughly enjoyed it.
The proprietress of the cart was lovely though and I love the fact that she has dog treats available. I’ll certainly be back to try other flavors since they seem to get great acclaim here, but I’d warn against the mango flavor!

It was 90+ degrees and a chick on a bicycle gave me delicious pudding pops (team banana!) followed by awesome advice about my new neighborhood. Five stars, obviously!

Yummy flavors! The banana-​rama is my favorite so far. Val is always in the kitchen making new flavors. She uses Rhody Fresh milk and no preservatives. Only the best ingredients. I will get a pudding pop whenever I see her.

Yay for a new and unique food truck (well, bike) in Providence! I caught the PVD Pudding Pops bike cart at the Hope Street Spring Block Party. I tried the cinnamon and the Rhode Island coffee milk pops – both were delicious and refreshing. And, if that isn’t reason enough to try one: they’re made with milk from local Rhody farms! By the time I got there they were out of their other flavors (chocolate and butterscotch) otherwise I would have tried those too. At $ 2.75 a piece, they’re not exactly cheap, but for a special treat they’re totally worth it. This is a new business, so check out @PVDPops on Twitter to see where they’re at. I don’t think they have regularly scheduled stops right now, although since summer is around the corner, I imagine that will change. Also, I know the name is PVD «Pudding» Pops, but I hope they introduce some fruit pops into the lineup. Definitely worth checking out!
