Welcome to Tale of the Dog Boarding and Daycare. We are located just 300 feet off Poway Road, on your way in or out of town.

Join us for a fun filled day of frolicking in the fully fenced pasture, surrounded by year-​round creeks or lazing under the shade of the lovely oak trees. Inside the climate controlled rest area full of over-​sized pillows — not kennels — your best friend will lounge in comfort.

​We offer the perfect environment to socialize your dog (s) with our other guests and our caring staff is on hand at all times to supervise play, provide positive reinforcement and hand out endless belly rubs.

Whether your dog is joining us for Day Care or Boarding, our ranch is the perfect place for the optimum amount of play, exercise and rest each day. Rain or shine, your dog will experience a day of personal attention and companionship in a healthy, caring atmosphere.

Dogs of all sizes are welcome if spayed/​neutered and at least 8 months old.

Kasee B.

Manager

Kasee has spent the last 2 years as professional pet sitter/​dog walker. She has an unbridled love for all animals, especially her 5 rescue dogs. She is experienced in training and specializes in caring for pets with behavioral problems, medical needs and seniors. Recognizing the special needs of these animals; she uses techniques, intuition, patience and compassion to deliver professional loving care. In her free time she enjoys hiking, spending time with her husband Jason and her 5 year old son.

I liked that prior to my dog staying overnight for our two week vacation the staff ensured that kennel free boarding would be a fit for us. Prior to our vacation my dog had an evaluation at the facility to see how she interacted with the other dogs, and then on a different day she stayed overnight. Both trials went very well and throughout Kasee kept me updated and sent me photos of my dog having a good time, so I could tell she was happy. All this upfront effort ensures my dog as well as the other dogs will be safe and happy while staying at Tale of the Dog.

Fantastic facility and stellar staff, anytime we leave town we’ll be sending our dog to Tale Of The Dog. The dogs get plenty of green grass to roam, shade if they want, sun if they want… they can even relax in the air conditioning if its hot. Don’t hesitate to try them out… many pups are in the 9 – 5 daycare as well and they seemed to have a great routine and happy dogs :)

Our Butler loves going to Tale of the Dog for Daycare twice a week. His head is out the car window and his tail is wagging when we get to Beeler Creek. He can’t wait to get out of the car to greet Kasee and pull her into the office. He doesn’t even look back! He’s so tired when we bring him home that he wants dinner, a walk, and then bed. Butler is so well behaved when he has the opportunity to run off the extra energy at Tale of the Dog. Thank you Kasee and Jason!

We recently moved to Poway and needed a new place to board our dogs when we go out of town. I called around to get basic information from a few places and was really impressed by Tale of the Dog. The dogs get to run around on the beautiful property and have a dog slumber party inside at night. No kennels! Our two labs just spent their first weekend there and did great! They even texted me with some pictures to let me know how they were doing. Doesn’t get much better than that! So glad that we found a new vacation home for our dogs!

We love Tale of the Dog! Our Porter has been going here since he was a puppy when we take vacation. We call it camp since when bring him here we tell him he is going camp. He comes home happy and tired every time. We know he is getting the best possible care and he is treated like one of their own. We love how well John and his wife care for our furry child!

Just moved to the area and it was very important for me to find a kennel-​free daycare where my Boxer could play and run free.
It was a blessing to find Nancy and John. They are so dedicated to the well-​being of all dogs in their care. They are very personable and take the time to know the humans :)

I cannot enough great things about this place! I found it online almost 3 years ago when I first moved to California. John and Nancy treat my dogs as if they are their own, they are wonderful people. My dogs used to come here regularly for day care, but since I have moved to Temecula, sadly it is too far of a drive to bring them by regularly. However, every time my boyfriend and I go out of town we will drive several miles out of our way to board our dogs here, because we know the kind of love and care our boys will have!

Our dog Penny pretty much lives here two or three days a week while we are at work. We have a Velcro dog that hates being away from people for long periods of time, so we have peace of mind that she is well cared for with John while we are away. Two minutes into the car ride home, and she is out like a light because she is so exhausted from playing with her doggy friends all day. Don’t hesitate to bring your dog here… we are very discerning dog parents and wouldn’t just leave our fur daughter with anyone!

I’ve taken my dog here several times and he just loves it! There is a huge fenced in yard where the dogs play and a barn converted to a kennel. They are very reasonably priced and accommodating. I highly recommend them!

I have not yet boarded my dog here, but went today for a «temperament evaluation» which is required before agreement to board. What a beautiful setup the owner, John, has! The area is mostly grassy with a shady area under some large trees. I wanted to go sit on the bench and enjoy it myself! The sleeping area is clean and comfortable-​looking. In fact, after our short visit, my dog did not want to leave. It took a bit of coaxing! I will have no qualms leaving my dog with John. There’s no place like home, but I think Tale of the Dog must be the next-​best place!

Tale of the Dog is my Rotty’s home away from home. The care, compassion and time that John puts forth for our furry family member is exceptional. We have tried other places offering similar services, but have found ourselves repeat customers of Tale of the Dog. I love the socialization factor of this facility and feel at ease knowing that my dog is having fun while we are away and she can’t be with us. John has even taken the time to text and send pictures of my dog to let me know how she was doing. I don’t worry one bit while my girl is in John’s care. We will continue to entrust John and his wife with our dog as he is accommodating and goes above and beyond in the care for the animals.

We recently left our 8 lb spoiled Maltese dog with John at The Tale of the Dog Care.
We looked for 5 months and interviewed 4 or 5 possible dog care people. We chose the TDDC and left «Happy» there for 12 days. We were more than pleased with John and his wife! We will leave Happy there anytime we travel.
