Poway Weapons & Gear Range

Have been coming over a year and the staff has never failed in answering my questions and staff member Stefanie has always greeted me with a smile and welcoming hello. I will not go to any other indoor range. This play is truly the best.

This place is awesome. My husband and I love to go shooting any chance we get. So, we made our way down to this location in Scripps/​Poway. We made a reservation because I know how packed it can get on the weekends! We had a great experience for it being our first time at this specific location.
With a Unilocal check-​in, we got a free safety card (which makes it easier to check in when we come back!) Like any range, you are welcome to rent guns of your choice, buy bullets, targets, etc. My dad had a couple of his own so they called someone to clear the guns and we were on our way to our lane!
Special shout out to Steffanie for being absolutely awesome when getting all out paper work in order and being super spunky! She made our experience awesome getting us in the range as fast as she could, regardless of the busy atmosphere. For sure coming back here, I love how nice this facility is!

My husband has been coming here for a while and made us both members. We finally both took classes separately and I was very impressed. Look forward to taking more.

New and very clean facility. The staff was friendly. Everyone from the guys running the range to the people working the shop was easy to talk to. They have a 25, 50 and 100yd range. I filled out their on-​line waiver that consisted of watching a video filling out some questions and answering some true/​false questions. But once I got there I had to read the same range rules and safety stuff over again before signing a form. It’s not a big deal, I appreciate ranges that try to make sure everyone is safe.
I’ve used the 25yd range during my lunch break to try out my new shotgun. It wasn’t busy during lunch which is great! The lanes are fancy with an electronic touch pad to control the targets. I’ve also come here with a group of family members and the staff was very accommodating and we all had a great time.
If you plan on coming here more than a couple time pay for the $ 5 safety card. It keeps you from having to fill out the forms and take the same tests every time you come in. Overall, I feel comfortable shooting here and would highly recommend this place.

I stopped here yest. to this indoor shooting range facility. This indoor range by far one of the biggest ones I have ever gone too. It was very easy to find with plenty of parking… which is awesome plus their operation hours are from 10am-​10pm which is pretty Awesome. Overall, I would say I was pleased with the customer service here… Once we checked in we signed some release forms and signed some documents and took a mini test… which is very simple and easy just read the material. Then they checked your guns… and made sure you had safety glasses and ear buds and you were good to go it was very fast quick… then go to your lane… and shoot… then clean up after yourself… I am very happy we found this place on our way from looking at guns at some near by gun shops… I will be coming back here again once I come back into town and make my gun purchase =) This facility is very family friendly… also…

Time well spent at PWG. Shout out to Omarie and Kevin! These are two knowledgeable, humorous and respectful young men. They explained the many perks of my platinum membership as well as discussed upcoming events. Omarie observed my racking technique and made suggestions for improvement. Steffanie encouraged me to attend a Lady’s Night and not to be concerned about coming alone. I look forward to my first Lady’s Night at PWG. If you are looking for a range which is safe, clean, and honestly, just a damn nice place to be. Get your butt to PWG! The only regret you will have is if you don’t get there. #Glockpassion

Beautiful place. Before shooting at this range I checked it out at least twice, first time to see how the operation was run. Was the customer service attentive to the customers needs, it was. Second time around I wanted to check out their inventory, and it is impressive. I also walked into the bathroom to see if it was clean, that may seem strange but I believe it is a telling sign of the pride and ownership the employees have in their place of employment.
I use the range once and promptly became a platinum member. Now here’s where it gets murky, 90% of the employees here are on point, but there was 10% (usually the younger employees) that were passive aggressive rude, which made me feel unwelcome. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it then, but after some reflection, the overwhelming feeling I got from this 10% was that I was somehow below them in stature.
I tried to shake this feeling, but there it was almost every time I went to the range, small, inconsequential situations, like explaining the safety rules to me in a slow meticulous pace, like I have Alzheimer’s, or I was a mental deficient like a cast member from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
I also had work done to a couple of my guns through the gunsmith, a competent fellow. I did have a problem with the sights he put on one of my guns, the front sight fell off. When I brought it back to the shop the gunsmith was not there so I spoke to the person behind the counter. He had an impromptu discussion with another counter person and they felt like I had the wrong sights on the gun. When I asked them why the gunsmith would put the sights on my gun if they were the wrong sights, they ignored me like I was not there and Continued with their debate on if it was the right sights or not.
I let my membership lapse, I drive by this range at least twice a week, and look at it was wistfully, remembering the fun times I had shooting at paper. I miss my range, but in the end it was never really my range.

Awesome range! Friendly and welcoming staff soon as I walked through the door. Full gear for pistols and rifles, good selection and ammo and despite my prior military weapons handling safety, I like the paper work they have first timers fill out so they understand firearms safety. Sales floor and team have definitely won me over, as for the firing lanes, it seemed a bit complex to figure out setting my target distance but it took only a minute to get it going. They have definitely earned my business for consistent range visits and target practice, as for sales, I will be looking into buying my next pistol and rifle from here.

Memorial Day sale, good luck. Terrible customer service, we were there to actually buy something, waited for over 20 minutes without even being acknowledged by anyone. One employee was there having a personal conversation with his «customer/​friend» while we are at the counter waiting to buy something.

I waited quite a while to write my review of PWG. I was a premium member for one year and have just renewed as a silver member. I’m always careful to write reviews of ranges as your experience can change from visit to visit. Since this is the range I frequent and am a member of, I wanted to make sure I made it as accurate as possible.
First off, the range is absolutely beautiful. Its one of the most modern and state of the art facilities I’ve shot at. The facility is always clean. The facility can be busy at peak times. I’ve never had to wait is long lines since I’m a member but I can see how non-​members complain about wait time. New shooters can fill out the range safety online and be set to go once they get there. I know they do charge for a safety card, but being a member, its included. I love that I have options. I shoot the 25 mostly but often get put on the ⁵⁰⁄₁₀₀ when a class is on the 25 range. Once you get to your lane, inspect the carrier. Make sure there are not shots on it. If there are, call an employee right away and have them spray it off because they will charge you for hits on the carrier!
As for customer service. I have yet to receive bad service here. I’ve never received the typical better than you range attitude here. Everyone is always friendly. I did receive a comment once about having a high powered scope on my .22 rifle, but I thought is was funny as well and simply told them, look, I’m just trying it on for fun. All in all, friendly staff, great service. Don’t hesitate to shoot here, you won’t regret it.

This is one of the best facilities that I have been to. Stephanie and Shane and all the rest of the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. I will be coming back to this facility again.

This is by far one of the best ranges I’ve ever been to! Very high tech and modern with a very friendly and extremely professional staff. I seriously though it was going to be a fortune for use this range, but the prices are amazing and I’m not even a member (seriously thinking of becoming one now!)!
If you have been thinking or even hinting at the idea of coming to this range, you need to act because this place is the best! You will not be upset. Ammo, equipment, supply’s and accessories are very well & competitively priced. Again I highly recommend you come to Poway Weapons & Gear.

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge firearms guy but I’ve been to my share of indoor ranges. This one definitely ranks on the nicer end compared to some of the smoky dim dank pits I’ve been to. The showroom floor itself is has everything displayed nicely in a warm environment. It looks like a Cabela’s store. They have 3 ranges, 25, 50 and 100 yards to suit your needs. Those behind the counters were nice and courteous, first time I came in I asked for a tour and they took me around to one of the ranges and explained their membership structure. Definitely give this place look if you’re into shooting.

This range is great! However, your employee Steffanie could use some training in customer service as she is pretty unpleasant.

First time @a shooting range. It was a great experience. Great customer service. The staff were all pleasant and just happy to help and answer your questions. Store was big with a vast selection.
250 bullets after… hmmm, that tells you I enjoyed it. It was exhilarating.

The new definitive best range in North County.
Where to start? What goes in to making a range run well and get people coming back? From facilities, services, staff, store, attitude, safety, competency. PW&GR has it all.
The range itself is divided up between short and long, 100 yard indoors. Everything is new and functions excellently. Rules-​wise they’ll allow you to go prone if you can punch black consistently, and are cool with –controlled– rapid fire. Nice plus here. Inside the lobby /​store area things are pretty roomy, which comes in handy on busy Saturdays. (RSVP a lane ahead of time for +$ 5). Large selection of weapons and accessories, can’t comment on pricing. Price of range services however is very fair, MIL discount of course. All the staff I’ve worked with have been competent, well trained and courteous. Again Saturdays can be busy so expect some slowdown in efficiency. When it comes to safety, you will need to fill out the usual safety form every range has, and pay $ 5 for a Safety Card (FREE w/​Yelp Checkin!). There is an instructor led safety brief in a side room I did the first time with a large group. Weapons check in the lobby.
Honestly, this place has everything you could put on a wishlist range and still CYA to keep things safe. I’ll be back here many more times I’m sure.

Took the Intro to gun class, even though I have shot in the past, I felt it was best to start fresh and I will tell you this; I learned more than I thought I would. Staff was great, the facility is top notch state of the art. I look forward to taking additional classes to improve my skils.

Nice large clean store with a very busy range. Similar to Scottsdale gun club in that they have a nice VIP room. Wish I had a VIP membership so That I could hang in there!

Went there today, on the recommendation of everyone’s favorite saucy redhead in heels (you know who you are!)
Reserved a lane on the 100 yd range for 2:00 pm (reserving costs an extra $ 5.00).
Very well located, just down the street from another very good shooting range in Poway. Biggest showroom floor that I have seen in years in Cali, fortunately I wasn’t even tempted because I don’t need anything.
Completely unnecessary paperwork and annoying too… I’m a military veteran and an NRA Lifer… but you still have to go through the 10 minutes of BS… is it really necessary? Don’t know, because I don’t own a shooting range, lol.
Anyway, got dialed in and on my way… the range is clean, but a bit warm, I’m used to frigid A/​C at the indoor ranges and actually prefer it.
Like the dynamic feature, that you can draw from a holster if you discuss with them first, very cool!
What I don’t like at all is how the target spins around in place when it returns to home. The computer controlled target programming is not particularly intuitive, but once you get used to it, not too bad. Kind of expensive, for me and a buddy, an hour on the range with my «safety card ($ 5.00) was almost $ 50.00, including the purchase of 4 targets… it’s more than I have ever spent before on an hourly basis.
At the end though, indoor 100yd range for sighting in new toys and close to home is a pretty big bonus. Not enough for me to become a member at this point, but will be thinking about it.
