MM Europainting and Contracting

I just had all of the popcorn ceilings removed by MM Europainting and Contracting (Jon & Louise were the two gentleman that came and did the work– not sure if I spelled their names correctly!). Anyway, Michel was very easy to work with and communication was easy.
I want to brag about how AWESOME of a job they did though. They went above and beyond anything that I expected. They worked diligently, and I felt very at ease with both of them as they were very personable and friendly! They did awesome with the prep, scraping, texture, priming, painting, and clean up. That is one heck of a job, and they really went out of their way to make it perfect. They even knocked out a small portion of a wall that looked tacky (home was designed in the early 80’s). Not only was that done and looked fantastic, but they even texturized a patch in the wall that I had fixed. I wasn’t expecting them to do any extra, and they really outdid themselves.
I highly recommend MM Europainting and Contracting. I know I will definitely be using them again for any work that I might need.

This is our 3^rd time using Michel and he’s consistently done great work! We had him and his team paint our entire house before we moved in. They paid careful attention to the baseboards and crown moulding, and did a fantastic job with both the interior and exterior. The following year we installed an entertainment sound system, and had Michel and team come do the drywall repair and touch up afterwards. The ceilings were a bit tricky to re-​texture, but he did a fine job. He even stopped by a few days later to take a look and make sure no additional work was needed, and that we were pleased. The third time, we had him hang some large paintings on a very high wall. They were fast, accurate in their measurements, and tidy with the job. He’s our go-​to guy for all our painting needs!

Over a year ago we had Michel and his crew paint the entire exterior of our house and the courtyard. The surfaces included stucco, siding, wood craftsman-​style eves, wood trim around windows, wood trellis and all the exterior doors. There was a lot of detail work plus three colors of paint and Michel and his crew did a great job with careful attention to details. I meant to post a review then, but only just remembered it now when writing another review. One benefit of waiting is that I can report that after 15 months the painting it looks as good as it did the day they finished. Over time I’ve not found any defects in the workmanship. They did a better job than the original builder.
Michel was recommend to us by a coworker, who also had a great experience. To address some of the negative reviews here regarding communication, it should be noted that MM Europainting is an owner operated business without a front office staff. For me, I’m willing to give up that immediate customer response on the front end for the extra care I get when the owner is really involved with getting the job done right and making sure I’m happy with the results at the end.

As the owner of Davis Estates and Homes I can tell you that I’ve referred several of my clients (both buyers and sellers) to Michel and he has come through doing excellent work at a very reasonable cost!

I had Michel work on my condo back in 2013. I’m back to post an update as Michel recently took on a new project for me. I purchased a home in July 2014 and it needed some work. There were popcorn ceilings. not much lighting in the kitchen and living room, wires coming out of all the rooms and stucco on the exterior of the house, garage had busted walls, and the kitchen was dated back to the 1970s.
I noticed there were a couple reviews below that mention Michel’s lack of communication. I can completely understand how this is a major concern. The time these reviews were posted was when Michel I hired Michel to complete my renovations. I was frustrated at the beginning because I had a difficult time getting a hold of Michel. However, all of the jobs and timeframes we agreed on were completed early or on time. I got his lead contractor Joseph — the man is an ALL STAR. He managed the work just fine and brought in the necessary people to complete the job. Michel was very transparent that he was on another large project and that my project would get done in the timeframe we agreed on, he may just not be on site as much as he was during my first renovation (back in 2013).
For this renovation, I interviewed other contractors to take on some of the smaller projects, I ended up going with Michel. Why? Because I trust the man. He’s honest and does quality work for a very fair price. I will be posting photos from my renovation and the work they completed for me. Michel doesn’t nickel and dime you for all of the work that him and his team put in. Michel and Joseph made countless trips to home depot for me, installed new locks, cut out all the wires from the stucco and interior of the house, installing the smoke detector, and made sure to clean up the workspace and hire a maid to clean after they were complete. None of this was charged by Michel, it was done by my request.
Michel and his team did a wonderful job. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable, hard working, and trustworthy contractor. He’s busy and rightfully so, the one’s that hire him, rehire him. Michele and his team is very dependable and keep on time very well. He is going out his way to get the best deal for the client. He also is very considerate and flexible. He is not the typical contractor you experienced. He does not change cost or lead time and he is reachable. I will hire him again for next project. Highly recommend Michele.

I was really hoping to have the opportunity to post great reviews like the rest of you have for this company. However, after trying for three days to get in touch with somebody only to have a number without a voicemail or messaging capability I was about to give up.
I thought I would take a chance and send a text message to the number hoping that it would be a cell phone. Sure enough it was. I was able to get in touch with Michele and we set an appointment for the following week to have him come to our house for a bid estimate. His only available time slot was at 7:30 in the morning so I pushed back a few appointments to make it happen. 730 came and went without any word from him. I sent him another text and told me that he had forgotten to write down the appointment but that he could come the next day at the same time. We made arrangements to be here and he did arrive to take a look at the job. We had a recent flood in our laundry room which had water going into our guest bedroom. After a week of dehumidifiers and fans to dry out the walls and baseboards it was time to have them replaced and repainted. It was three rooms worth of work and I would think that it would be a fairly simple yet profitable for him. While he was here, we expressed we want to move right away on getting this done as our downstairs portion of our house has been torn up for two weeks already.
He told us that we would have the estimate by the end of the day or no later than the following day. It’s been nine days since he came out to give an estimate and after receiving broken promise after broken promise we have decided to go with another contractor.

Had Michel & his team do a small job for us a couple years back and was happy with the work although the work space was a little messy afterwards.
Given our success with him in the past I called him up to schedule an estimate and was told that he would be available mid-​day and he would give me a call 1hr before to confirm the time.
I stayed home just to make things easier and didn’t hear from him mid-​day. I also tried to call him twice with no answer and he doesn’t have voicemail setup. Unfortunate, he does good work — just not reliable it seems.

Michel and his team painted our interior and put up crown molding as well as filled in our staircase. They were in and out in 3 days and did a meticulous job with everything. They are extremely professional and reasonable. I would definitely recommend them.

Michel and his crew has been doing work for me at my primary home for the last three years. I have never been disappointed with their quality of work or pricing. As with everything in this business, you can never be prepared for everything but he has always been fair and honest. They do tend to be in high demand so you may have to wait but it is worthwhile. Everyone that works with him is friendly and pleasant to be around which is a plus.

MM Europainting painted the exterior of our Rancho Penasquitos home three years ago after repairing termite damage. They did an outstanding job and the paint quality and attention to detail were terrific. Proper equipment and extra time and care yielded an excellent quality paint job. Their work caused us to ask them to bid on installing a set of French doors in the exit of our kitchen into our Florida room in the back. The sliding glass door in place at the time dated from the original construction of the house in 1975.
MM Europainting removed the old sliding door and very carefully inserted the new French doors, installed molding inside and out, and painted the entire assembly. They were very careful not to disturb the mirror on one side of the frame and beautiful marble kitchen decoration on the other. Shimming the heavy door was a difficult task which they handled with skill and care.
I would highly recommend them anytime for this type of work.

Extremely disappointed in the quality of their work. We hired this company to paint our entire house, including doors, trim, and baseboards based on the excellent reviews on Unilocal.That was a mistake.
They painted over dusty baseboards, walls, and trim. Any professional knows to wipe the surfaces clean before painting so the paint adheres better. We noticed this right away on the baseboards and brought it to their attention. They re-​did a portion of the baseboards but they sanded it down so much that even after they re-​painted it was still noticeable. Two weeks after they painted, the walls began chipping, and as we went around the house checking out the job you could see (and without looking very closely) painted over dust. Looks horrible.
We also hired them to install cabinets and hardware in our laundry room. They didn’t even use a LEVEL to install the hardware because there the left cabinet hardware is a full ½ inch lower than the right. Needless to say, we had to re-​do the hardware and make new holes in the cabinet doors, fill those in, and re-​drill.
They seemed rushed and honestly did not do a quality job. Also, a few months later I ran into Juseph, one of the guys that works there, and told him about my disappointed and what had happened with all the paint. He acknowledged that they must have painted over dirty baseboards and walls and that Michel will call me to fix it. He never called to fix it.
Not sure if they were extremely busy and had other jobs to complete but our job turned out unacceptable. It was a $ 6,000 job that we are having to still re-​do. Would not recommend to anyone.

Before I write my review, my husband and I just want to thank Michele for the beautiful job that he and his crew did on our condo. We absolutely love it and can’t thank him enough! We are in the process of buying another house and we will be using him again for the renovations!
My husband and I decided to renovate our condo. We got many quotes from various companies (companies that do everything vs. companies who do individual projects). We found MM Europainting via Unilocal.After meeting Michele and getting his quote, my husband and I decided to go with him because he appeared professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and his quote was fair. We also like the fact that his company does EVERYTHING you want and need! Yet, the one component that impressed us the most and made our decision easy was Michele’s credential and work background.
Michele is a very reputable contractor, who we can tell due to his high quality of work is in high demand by many people of all economic status. He works on homes as big as over 6000 sq ft. Although he is a busy man, he is personable, tries to accommodate to your needs even if it means answering you emails late at night, and he is honest.
When starting the project, there were some minor hiccups where we had to postpone our renovation by 1 – 2 weeks because his prior project had run into our timeline. Yet, being the honest guy that he is, Michele was very apologetic, explained the situation, and accommodated us to ensure that we were pleased with his service. There were also some minor communication difficulties, but that was quickly resolved. We were pleased by his genuineness. Once his crew started, they were very efficient and quick. Since my husband and I both work, we opened the door for them at 8:30 am and left them to work. By the time we would come home, they were already gone for the day, which was nice for us. They definitely worked with us and they were patient with us. On top of everything, he was very understanding as well, as we had some hiccups on our behalf. We offered to purchase all materials (i.e., laminate floors, carpet, etc.). There were some delays on our part because Home-​Depot made a mistake on the delivery of our product so we had to delay the project even more. Michele and his crew was very understanding and worked with our timeline as well, which we were very grateful for.
Projects that we did:
* Changed carpet in all bedrooms
* Changed living room, kitchen, and dining room from carpet to laminate floors
* New base molding in kitchen
* New lighting in bathrooms and kitchen (change from florescent lights to either bathroom fixtures or recess LED lightening)
* Recess LED lightening in living room and dining room
* Took off popcorn ceiling.
Overall, the project took about 4 to 5 days total. It was quicker than we thought. Like other reviews, after the project, we would sometimes find some minor areas that wasn’t patched up as we would have imagined; however, once we told him, he would come back and patch up the details to ensure that everything was perfect in our eyes. Michele and his crew did a FANTASTIC job! All our friends and family have been complimenting us on the renovations. Our condo now truly feels like home to us.

Michele and his team did a fantastic job in our house. All the painting work, including baseboard has been done within a tight timeline. He is really knowledgable about interior design. The crown moulding he recommended, especially in our kitchen and family room, is really awesome. My wife and I both love that so much! The texture match in bathroom makes the wall looks way much better than before.
They are also easy to communicate and willing to listen to our demands. Michele always took care of every detail and was trying to make things look perfect. They even clean every outlet cover and blinds in our house!
We would definitely hire them for next project sooner definitely!

Top notch quality work. Micha — the owner — simply cares and you can tell. Things can and will go wrong but he takes care of every last detail. A proud business owner you rarely find.
We had a very large project with lots of painting, drywall, carpentry and stone wall work. We where on a very tight timeline and they did their best to get as much done in time as possible.
He personally inspected every last corner, line and patch. We will definitely hire him again.

This may sound alot like the other reviews but its because this company must be consistent! Michel came out to quote the job, he started talking about how he had to silicone the ceiling corners so the paint lines would look better which sounded like an up sale to me. Then mentioned siliconing the baseboards to clean it up!
When he talked I found him to be very knowledgable and really listen to what i wanted. At first i thought his quote was kinda high until i had three others come out off recommendations and he was more than fair. He also had better communication skills.
So because Unilocal and him i decided to hire them but because house was up for sale had to have done asap! He was able to complete on schedule with no extra BS.
He remembered everything we discussed and fixed all small issues we found at the end with no issues or excuses.
Highly recommend him and think ur a fool

Our high marks are because MM Europainting went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. They checked in with us incrementally during the process to make sure the paint, cuts, and materials were what we wanted.
They finished the job with the timeline we agreed upon and were flexible with our timeline.

I have a home in Sorrento Valley that’s been a rental unit AND one of the tenants wasn’t so nice to the place. There was water and a ceiling, get the picture… and many telling me that to get the texture to match was going to take an artist.
After reading here about Michele and his company I had him take a look and do the work.
EXCELLENT, clearly artists. Can’t even tell there was a problem.
Second, I wanted the garage cleaned up, walls painting floor epoxy, I had this done on another unit I owned (different crew)…they did a good job, but Michele and his team, WOW!!!

I found Michel on Unilocal and decided to contact him because of all of his positive reviews. We arranged for him to come to my house for an estimate and he showed up on the day and time he agreed. I have previously had contractors go MIA. After meeting Michel in person and discussing the job I instantly felt like he was the right man for the job. He was the first estimate for this job and I did not want to waste time getting anymore estimates.
After a couple of days I came to my senses and realized I should probably get another couple of estimates just to make sure. I did and did not find anyone that I thought would be better for the job.
Now that the job is complete I am very happy with the outcome. I appreciate the fact that he made sure that my husband and I were satisfied with the finished job. Michel is very easy to communicate with and is very flexible and reasonable. Thanks to the positive experience with Michel, my husband and I plan on having him to more work on our home. I am so thankful that we finally found a reliable, honest, affordable, skilled, and personable contractor in San Diego. Anyone who has hired someone to do work on their home know that a person with those qualities are very hard to come by.
