I got a clarifying facial yesterday it was a little pricy but luckily I bought a groupon which made it affordable. Lindsay was awesome! Super sweet great conversation and very relaxing. I just wish they tell you that you have to tip in cash and can’t add it to your card so I had to go back to tip but other than that awesome!

Went on Saturday for a pomegranate facial and paraffin hand treatment. So devine!
Lisa O’Brien greeted me with a basket for my belongings and wrap around towel for my top half.
The music was having some technical difficulties so the treatment room was quiet. But all was good! Lisa has a beautiful, soft spoken voice that makes you feel calm and relaxed like your at professional resort. Your in great hands with her.
The quality of the products and service from all the staff will bring me back here again!

Although it is rather busy in this salon and booking an appointment is sometimes tricky it is definitely worth my time and money. I have curly hair which can be difficult to manage/​cut, but every time I have gone I walk out pleased. Yes, they take their time and yes you have to wait for an instructor to approve the next step, but I understand that these men and women are in training and again I walk out of the salon pleased with their service. I pay a fraction of the cost of a high-​end salon which is great for my pocket book.

My Fiancé’ went to the academy yesterday to see if they could get her in same day for an appointment and she told me the desk clerk didn’t acknowledge her when she walked in. The customer ahead of her wanted a same day appointment and the desk lady told her they had some evening slots available. When my Fiancé’ asked she told her they were completely booked. Thinking that was odd I called today to see if I could schedule an appointment. The woman who picked up the phone, Racquel? I think was her name. My goodness did she sound irritated that I had called. She read this script about how it «was a beautiful day at Bellus academy» and sounded like she hated saying it. I asked if they had any openings available tomorrow and she said they didn’t have any openings available until TUESDAY. Alright… Just surprised is all. I didn’t think the customer service at the desk here was all that great. They should probably talk to whoever it is.

I haven’t had any appointments for services (although I want to get a perm and even a hair color change) but I have taken a tour and talked to the admissions advisor. I have completed my FAFSA for financial aid and my final appointment is tomorrow on how much awards I’ll receive and when I can start school. I’m seriously so excited! Tomorrow will decide the rest of my future and for me, this is an incredibly exciting time. Anyways, everyone I have talked to this far has been so amicable and great energy. I can’t wait to be a student.

Today was my first time to go to a Beauty School for anything. I’ll totally be back!
On a new financial path I have decided I no longer want to pay $ 200-​$ 300 for a cut and color wor. Then I remembered my Sister went to Bellus when she lived in the area and always looked amazing.
So, I booked an appointment and was so happy I could get in on a Saturday morning with just a couple day’s notice.
I had read the reviews and really planned to be here awhile because my appointments tend to take forever as it is. I was out in less than 3 hours. That was great.
The girl who worked on me was so attentive to detail. My hair color is a bit unique so she and her instructor discussed it and it came out perfect. The shampoo and head massage alone were worth the price of admission! OMG it was pure heaven. The cut was done really well too.
The only difference was the styling technique. I didn’t ask for anything specific so I was dried with a vent brush and finished with a flat iron. I always use a round brush for volume and rarely need anything else. No biggie… I To be honest I have always gone home and restyled my hair after a hair appointment anyway, lol.
I’ve already told several of my local friends how awesome it was. My bill? $ 38. I dang near fainted on the floor and messed up my hair :-)
Here is a tip for you — — - Bring CASH or a personal check for tipping your stylist. You can’t add that onto the card. Thank heaven I found some cash or it would have been a trip to the ATM.
Love it and can’t wait to take advantage of some of the wonderful spa services too.

Second time here but for different service. I am happy to say I just received one of the most amazing back massages EVER. Careful to say much better than Massage Envy and other clinics. Jannare Elyse took care of me and I was just so amazed by the results. She’s a lot better than professionals I’ve encountered. She really worked into my tight upper neck muscles and shoulders and I am very pleased with her work. She ended the session with a foot massage that was the icing on the cake. I haven’t felt this relaxed in so long, I am definitely coming back for another massage! Keep up the good work Jannare :) :)

This was my first time ever having had my hair done at a school as opposed to a full-​fledged salon and I must admit, I wish I had checked it out sooner! I received a cut and partial highlights by Hailie and could not be happier. In fact, and as I admitted to her, I was much more pleased with her work than when I had paid over $ 200 for the last job. She was extremely patient with my picky and often, uncertain requests and offered friendly suggestions when I just wasn’t sure what I was looking for. The end result is that I’m exceedingly happy with the new ‘do and will continue to go to her at whatever salon is lucky enough to employ her!

Bellus Academy just started their Barbering program so I went in for an old fashioned straight razor shave, and it was awesome! I saw Adrean and he did a great job. Best part is it’s not $ 45 like at a barber shop, I think I paid $ 5, then I gave him a $ 5 tip, its the least I could do for taking his time and giving me a great shave. Going to Bellus is cheaper than buying Gillette razors on your own. All guys should experience a real shave once in their lifetime and then you will be hooked.

I attended Bellus Academy for their esthetics and make-​up program and I loved it! I actually ended up moving to San Diego from Los Angeles just for this school! It’s huge, clean, beautiful, and a professional working salon. The teachers are so extremely knowledgable (the head estheticians that teach have an extensive background in not only esthetics but science and were trained in europe where esthetics school is 4x as long)! The clinic we use to see clients is top notch along with the products and machinery that we’re taught to use. Since day 1 they prepare you for the state board exam and i am so glad they did because i passed my exam with ease! We had a very busy schedule so you get tons of practice on clients that book treatments. Big thanks to Sean who runs the career services and helping me with my resume and letting everyone know of job leads. As for the make-​up course it was a lot of fun and i did learn a lot including how to use an airbrush machine. I will say that i wish the makeup class was longer because it went by really fast and i wish we had more time to learn more things instead of squeezing everything into 1 month but i liked it nonetheless.

Toured the school with my friend that wants attend, as well checking out for my twin daughters– and was very impressed. Friendly admissions, super helpful financial aide staff to answer questions. Met a Master Esthetician teacher (Layla?) and she was so motivating made me want to come to class! Manny in barbering also super friendly and informative. We have visited other area schools and none were near as nice. Definitely a top contender when making the final decision.

This site is the most professional and customer service oriented, teaching based school I’ve ever experienced. The staff I have experienced Erik and Dorothy, supervise hair and are on task, professional, engaging and concerned. I listen to advice they give students and learn things myself! The students Lauren, Jamie, Janey, Are very good and I will keep listing the best as I experience them. I am also VERY impressed at the front desk. They are CONSISTENTLY professional, high energy, ultra polite, helpful and sweet plus they are fast and timely. There are STEF, ALYSSA AND ROCHEL.

I had a great experience receiving services here. The massage was wonderful. My student MT concentrated the majority of my massage on my neck and upper back like I asked and did an awesome stretch of my neck. It was still a full body massage, but I’m glad she concentrated on the points that needed the most attention. She checked in with the pressure level and provided a fantastic massage.
My hair was next and I was getting a cut and highlights. The process took quite awhile because my hair was being stubborn and the color wasn’t lifting, but the results were incredible. It’s actually interesting to hear the students being instructed. My stylist did a good gauge of the hair color on her own and it ended up blending in really well with my natural color. I only had a little bit trimmed off to clean up my hair and the results were fantastic.
As a result of my experience and the inexpensive prices, I tipped based on what a typical service would cost in a salon without the student teaching. Looking forward to trying other services.
Tips:
–Plan your day early if you are receiving multiple services. The services begin on time, but factor in extra time during the learning process.
–Be specific with what services you want when making the appointment. I had different experiences with the people I spoke with. One was friendly, but didn’t seem to understand what services I wanted. One was kind of grouchy and seemed annoyed I wanted more than one service.

I found out about Poway-​Bellus Academy from a friend whose classmates needed models for Shampoo/​Blow-​Dry services. There’s nothing I love more than being pampered, so needless to say I was very eager to volunteer (what mother of 2 wouldn’t want to escape from home on a Saturday morning to let someone else do her hair?)
Everyone was very nice and friendly, I saw LAUREN. She started with a consultation; I have very fine hair, and not much of it, so I asked for a volumizing style with curls that started halfway down my hair length. We moved over to the shampoo stations where she massaged my scalp, it was so relaxing. My scalp tingled some due to the peppermint in the product, it smelled and felt really refreshing!
We decided to skip the deep conditioning treatment since I really wanted to get some volume, instead she used the Sebastian Whipped Cream mousse to give my strands a shiny healthy look. She didn’t pressure me into buying anything. Lauren has the most gentlest hands ever! I had to glance towards the mirror a few times to see if she was actually doing anything to my hair, I think my 4 year old would LOVE to have Lauren brush her hair :) She finished me off with a small and simple side braid (pictured below). Loved it!
I’m rating this salon solely on my one-​time visit with Lauren. I have no idea what the other services are like here but I’m a fan so far =)

I had my color done for 35.00 with 50% off for August promotion so it was 17.50 for color (my hair is really long). Also, she trim my hair for 13.00. Total of 30.50 for my hair color and hair cut. It wasn’t bad at all. I gave 15.00 tip for her. The front desk told me addition 15.00 for gloss my hair? Hmm… so total was 40.50 then. I wasn’t really aware about the gloss hair at all:(. Oh well, it was still. … great prices n nice service.
I asked her to curled my hair after she blow dryer my hair. Sweet girl;-). The only thing that I can suggest to Unilocal; you need to prepare regarding your time. Prepare that can’t go somewhere else, just you and Bellus. Yep! No rushing. You have to understand that they are students. THE process of Learning. It won’t hurt to be positive;). JUST don’t forget to bring book, magazine, cellular, ipad. It’s free Wifi. Also, bring your own food to eat in case you missed lunch or dinner. Friday I had an appointment, I got there at 530pm, and out at 930pm. My friend got there at 1030am and out at 5pm. She had highlights, hair cut and mani pedi for 55.00 deal. Btw, you don’t need to bring a bottle of water. They provided some water n cups. Even it slows, I’ll be back with my daughter and I plan to do some highlights and making an appointment to do facials with my Mom.

I started thinking this school was the shit, but I left disappointed… I learned to do a basic facial, and that was it… No eyebrow sculpting that, no lash extensions… Doing nothing for a month and a half after I became a senior…
Disrespectful behavior that was tolerated by the teachers… Even if you say something nothing changes, because they think there reputation
keeps them from being accountable… But really I found another school that offers a similar masters program as well as additional classes that you can take without having to go into debt… I think they’ve gotten really lazy because they think people dont have a choice…

Loved my stylist Kylie who got my hair and makeup ready for a formal event :)
The only downside was when getting my makeup done they were completely out of foundation and there was obviously nothing in the back/​there wasn’t any sort of stock of the products. Seems to be quite a huge problem and doesn’t seem fair to the students trying to do a good job. Kylie did a great job and was able to combine 4 different foundations in order to make enough for one application but nonetheless a beauty academy should have enough product.
first visit = 50% off services. Overall, I was very happy with my stylist/​end result.
