Good, not great… food. Lacking in presentation. Veryyyyyy small in there. Slightly over-priced. Good service.

This place moved from my «I need to visit here» list to my «I need to visit here more» list. I came here today for lunch with a friend, and I enjoyed it very much. I look forward to coming for dinner, when I’m more likely to sample some of the extensive list of beers, wines, and/or digestifs on their drink lists. Today, lunch was their Mill Burger, which is served with lettuce, slices of beefsteak tomato, peppery bacon, and aioli on a large toasted English muffin. It was cooked to order and thick — any thicker and I would have had to unhinge my jaw. It comes with either a side of fries or, as I did, you can order a side of greens. This was a simple mesclun salad with grape tomatoes, but the dressing on it was light and refreshing, with a hint of sesame oil. My dining companion had a reuben, also pretty thick, but not with enough dressing to his liking(they brought more quickly). The desserts look delicious and are reasonably priced, and digestifs are another option. Service and food delivery were fast, though today that was because it was fairly quiet. I want to return some evening for the dinner options(and dinner specials) and to see how it is here at night. Also, now that the weather is nice, patio dining is available.

Stopped by after the Home Show with a friend and was hoping to get a sandwich but they do not serve sandwiches after 4 pm. Dinner menu was ok and meal of Pasta Rose was good. Took too long between visit from server as it got busy and there were only one and at times saw two servers but they only looked at their own tables. Magician was good. Waited a long time for check and then a really long time for her to return to pick it up. Other server(male) saw us wave but chose to ignore is so he didn’t have to deal with the other waiters table. I finally got up and went to find her. An hour after finishing a meal was long enough to hang around. Would have had dessert but I would have gotten out of there at midnight. Don’t think I’ll stop by again.

On a positive note, the service was very good. The food on the other hand was edible. Nothing more. The beet salad had two pieces of beet, two pieces of cheese and arugula. I would definitely not call it a beet salad. Dinner was bland. It was supposed to have braised kale but it was spinach(our waitress even checked with the chef who said it was kale but it wasn’t). Fried chicken was dry. Mac and cheese was over done penne with a white sauce that had no taste. Dessert was burnt. We went on a Saturday so there was live entertainment, but in a space so small it was too loud to talk. Their bottles of wine are over priced. I will never go back.

Friday evening dinner. Very small inside. Not much walking room between tables. Between candles on table and kitchen it was very warm in there. We were seated an greeted quickly. From there 8 minutes to get menu then another fifteen to have a glass of water poured and figure out who was our waiter. 7 tables occupied with 3 servers so no reason for delay of service. Wife got a beet salad. Had 1 beet. Yes 1. Steamers were very good. Flatbread crumbled to pieces as you try to bite it. Although flavor was good it was way over cooked. 1st time, last time. Nothing like icehouse its partner restaurant

Thank god for the beer because the food is terrible. My brick oven pizza was soggy and when I asked how a 1200 degree brick oven pizza can be soggy the answer was there was another pizza in there robbing some of the heat. Really? Fish and chips dried out and burned beyond shoe leather. I saw the guy next to me ordered the same … And it looked the same. So maybe that’s how it suppose to be. Beer however is very good. So cheers !

I went for Valentine’s Day and we both ordered off the Prix fix menu. The cold crab salad was great. Seafood bisque good and we both had the filet mignon. Both cooked perfect medium and medium rare. Desserts were also very good. They offer an excellent selection of beer and wines. Will definitely go again.

I’ve been after my husband for a long time to try here and we stopped in finally for a Friday night dinner. This is a tiny tiny place. Counted 35 seats and about eight bar stools. We didn’t have reservations but we did get the worst seat in the house right be the door. People after us got better seating without reservations. Onion soup was awful. Bowl was partially filled. Soup was too too salty and had an odd sweet taste… not good. Oh and mind you lunch menu looked great but you can’t order from that after four. The mushroom flatbread was good. Service was awful they didn’t bring bread while all surrounding tables had bread. Had to ask for refills of water. There was one guy singing with a guitar. Too loud for a small area and too early for this. Server placed my dessert menu right smack on top of my dirty dinner plate and fork. Apple empanada was tasty but the Carmel sauce was not enough at all and the ice cream was not enough to give you ice cream with each bite. Won’t go back.

Hmm. This was a strange one for me. My wife ordered a steak salad that she didn’t end up finishing because they steak was so tough you couldn’t even bite through it. I ordered a burger that was waaay overcooked from what I asked for but otherwise tasted ok. My daughter ordered the quesadilla which thankfully tasted decent because if you can’t do that right then you have serious problems. We also had quite a long wait given that the place was completely empty. We were literally the only people in there for most of our dinner session which should have been a sign right off the bat. The waitress was very pleasent though. Given the level of inconsistencies here I wouldn’t go back and probably wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It was just okay at best.

Really disappointed. The short ribs were so tough making them really hard to swallow. The kids chicken fingers were really dry and tough. The red curry coconut mussels were ok but on the sweet side.

Wife had the pear and goat cheese flatbread and I had the arugula, shrimp, and pesto flatbread. Both were quite good — better than average fair. Price was just a bit more than you’d pay for a decent sandwich. Service was fine. Décor was a little odd but maybe as a forty something from south jersey maybe I just don’t get it — just casual but different. BTW — was given some bread with a tasty maple butter — just a nice start. Certainly would return.

Went here for lunch recently and was impressed with the superb service(Phil) as well as tasty food served piping hot and fresh. Reasonable prices and cozy surroundings make it a great place to dine.

I’ve been meaning to try The Mill for a while and finally got over there last night. It was pretty alright, but I definitely think it looks like a better place to go for a drink and a snack than a full on dinner. They have a pretty excellent wine selection. It’s somewhat lengthy(for a tiny place) and has a lot of wines I don’t typically see out. I ordered an Albariño which they were unfortunately out of, so I ended up getting a glass of Gavi, which, of course, yum. I didn’t order any, but I got a look at their beer menu and it had a lot of cool beers and ciders, so I could definitely see myself going back to grab a few beers at a later date. The bar itself was full when we got there(a good sign on a Wednesday night!) and remained so until we left. It seemed like all of their bar patrons were either just really friendly, or were regulars and actually knew the staff. I’ll assume the latter because I love seeing that at restaurants when I go out. I also really liked that the place filled up. When my friend and I got there, I believe we were the second or third table in, but by the time we left, every table was full. It seemed like they only had two servers on at the time, but it’s a pretty small dining space that shouldn’t overwhelm too much. They were good about little check ins to let us know that everything would be «just another minute,» but the food and check took quite a long time to come out. Luckily, I was with a friend and we were chattering away, but if I’d been on a bad date or been with a bad conversationalist, it would have been torture. I also thought the food was bland. My friend and I split an order of BBQ wings and I ordered the Littleneck Steamers appetizer as my meal. The wings were fine, though The Mill doesn’t strike me as a wing place, so I didn’t have incredibly high expectations. I was super hungry and probably any plate of wings would have been fine by me at the time. The clams, however, were apparently cooked in a white wine broth with herbs, shallots and tomatoes. They gave me a generous portion, but I had to dump salt on it to really get any flavor. It’s a little out of the way for me so I don’t think I’ll be there much for dinner, but I could see myself going back for a drink.

I am so mad at myself Ive driven past this restaurant numerous of times and finally decided to come into the restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. The waiter Phil was great. Very knowledgeable about the food and diffrent wines. Hes a great host. And they do sip and wines which I’ve been wanting to do. The mill is very chic and has a great ambiance. They also have a fire pit outside which Im planning to have a date night infront of. This restaurant is a must go!

Finally made it to this«higher end» neighborhood place. Having grown up in Poughkeepsie but now living in the Washington DC, I was excited to be able to try what appears to be a nicer place for the sleepy neighborhood of Reds Oak Mill. Small but inviting, casual atmosphere. I think we counted 34 seats. Nice bar area with a good selection of craft beers, wines and cocktails. Party of 3(me and my parents) we were seated at a table against a wall that had a small window off to one side with wooden blinds. Something about where we were seated made the place seem more closed in that it is or should feel. Sort of silly, but if they could put another window in or even raise the blinds, I think they’d end up making the place feel bigger or more open. Waiter was very friendly and welcoming but unfortunately with what seemed to be a slow kitchen and possibly short staffed(we saw only two wait staff who I believe also had to take care of the bar patrons) what should have been a somewhat expeditious meal(60 – 75 minutes at best, we only had one appetizer for the table with our drinks and an entrée each) turned into over 2 hours. Too long for a place like this. That being said the food was pretty good. Two variety of red wines were ordered(a Malbec and a Montelpuciano) as well as flight of beer. Waiter(again possibly also doing the pouring) was accommodating to sub out one flavor of beer that I wasn’t interested in for another on the menu that was more appealing to me. Only thing is this where the delay started. The glasses of wine were brought to the table promptly, but the beer took an extra 5 – 7 minutes. Can’t understand why. As we’d ordered a shimp, pesto flatbread to have with the drinks, we thought we’d get it shortly after the drinks arrived. Wasn’t the case. That arrived about 35 minutes later. No real explanation. It was piping hot, so seemingly it wasn’t a waiter issue, more of a kitchen issue(although the place wasn’t full). We saw other tables receiving baskets of bread, but we had to ask for one. Good news it was served warm and had a nice crunchy crust with some flavorful homemade butter on the side. When the flat bread finally arrived, the crust was nice and crispy and the mozzarella seemed fresh. Cherry tomatoes and arugula also in good order. The shrimp, while well cooked and flavorful were pretty sparse. Biggest disappointment was the pesto. Just didn’t have much of any flavor. Add a few more shrimp, punch the pesto and they’ve really got something there. For main courses, we had two orders of the Caldo Pescado(seemingly a mexican version of the Italian Zuppe di Pesce) and one fried shrimp basket. The caldo is a fish soup comprised of calamari, clams, salmon and shrimp served in a cilantro, tomato broth. As this is the mexican version it’s served with tortilla strips that were plentiful, flavoful, crispy and fresh. The mix of seafood was good, although when served in a dish like this, I have an issue with shrimp tail shells being left on. As the dish is meant to be eaten with a fork and/or spoon, I don’t think you should have to use your hands to get rid of the tail shells. That’s really for shrimp cocktails. Anyway, overall a good dish. We ordered one with clams and one without(Mom isn’t a big clam eater). There was a noticeable difference in saltiness on the version WITH the clams. When mentioned to the waiter, he attributed it to the clams and that seemed to make sense, although there should have been some way to counter balance it. Version without clams was served with a fresh lemon on top, version without, no lemon. Not sure why. Dad had the fried shrimp basket, which he reported was just okay. Also served piping hot, the shrimp seemed fresh but totally lost in all the breading which didn’t have a lot of flavor. The saving grace to this dish were the fries which tasted freshly cut and fried in a flavorful peanut oil. Without that good side, this would have been a wasted dish. The waiter came back and offered a refill on the wine at no charge, seemingly sensing our frustration with the slowness of the meal. Nice effort, followed by letting us languish too long before coming back to follow up with coffee, dessert, etc. As we’d reached the two hour mark at that point, we declined, took the check and called it a night. Overall, food was pretty good, service not so much(chalking that up to combo of slow kitchen and over stretched wait staff). Would we give it another try? Maybe. Definitely would do it knowing that it was going to be a long evening…

Renovated from a deli into a beautiful bar and restaurant. They have 12 craft beers on rotation at all times and some are even from the Hudson Valley! Everything from the food to the service and atmosphere is excellent. They have a different take on a burger that is served on an oversized toasted English muffin instead of a bun and they also have various flatbread pizzas that are good to share! A wonderful place to have a nice dinner or even just grab a drink at the bar after work!

We ate regularly at The Mill when it first opened and loved it. Then their chef left and things became inconsistent or just plain bad. Haven’t been back in months and decided to give it a try last night. Very disappointed. Our waiter was initially very attentive and helpful… and as always the calamari was great… but th aioli is NOT what it used to be. We asked for dinner to be accompanied by Caesar salads… listed as $ 3 additional charge on the menu. I asked if their salad had shredded cheese and anchovies — pretty typical of Caesar salad and what we have always had there before… as a matter of fact, at previous visits they always OFFERED us anchovies because not everyone likes them. He said he would check with the chef and as it turned out they DID have anvhovies. And our salads appeared — a bit on the skimpy side compared to earlier visits… my daughter had 4 fillets and I had 3… I had 2 «croutons» and she had about 20. It was good dressing… but again rather skimpy altogether. I ordered steak frites and asked that he NOT add the onion/mushroom sauce… and that seemed to irritate our waiter because that’s when the«eye-rolling» began… but he did comply. However… the hand cut fries were skimpy, burned, and shoe string sized… NOT typical frites… and my steak was probably 30% fat… just plopped down on top of everything in the middle of the plate. It was certainly nothing special and it made for messy eating. The waiter came to our table immediately after serving our entrees to see if we wanted more wine… as our glasses were still half full we declined. He continued to come and essentially pester us about more wine every five minutes or so until it became apparent that we would not be ordering any more, at which point he left us completely alone. We had to ask the girl busing tables for more water. Then we finally ordered dessert. Mine was supposed to have fresh whipped cream and it did not. It was very dry so I asked him if they perhaps had any ice cream… mind you I did NOT complain about the missing cream. He again rolled his eyes at me and said he would check with the chef. He returned about five minutes later and basically tossed a small scoop of ice cream at me. I asked for another cup of coffee… more eye rolling. Then came the bill… much later.. he had charged us $ 5 each for the $ 3 salads AND he had charged us EACH an additional $ 2 for the anchovies. We waited probably another 10 minutes until he came back to get the bill… which he disputed until we showed him the menu. He also kept the upcharge for the anchovies. for which I have NEVER paid at any restaurant. And despite the eye rolling, he had the audacity to say«it had been a pleasure serving» us. BS. I will not be going back.

This place is great. From the atmosphere to the service, beer and food. The calamari was excellent but didn’t care too much for the dipping sauces, would have rather had marinara sauce to dip it in. I had a sesame seed seared salmon dinner. It was excellent and cooked to my liking, but I was not a huge fan of the warm soba noodles. Even their homemade bread was great. For dessert my table split the apple empanadas, made fresh and were delicious. Would definitely go back.

I had another lovely experience at The Mill. I was supposed to attend a Paint Party there with Vine Van Gogh but things got screwed up. It was likely not going to fill and be cancelled so I cancelled my reservation as it was a gift for my mother and I didn’t want her to have a gift that got cancelled. We went out to brunch at The MIll instead and it turned out they were having the paint party after all. The offered to let us join in but we’d rearranged the rest of our day so it wasn’t convenient. Larry, the manager at the Mill was fantastic and very attentive. We sat and watched the paint party while we enjoyed a very delicious brunch and a fabulous fresh orange mimosas. He gave us 10% off and a coupon for next time. Vine Van Gogh sent over a piece of birthday cake for my mom.
