What an excellent find!!! Hubby and I took a run/walk across the Hudson River Walkway in Highland, NY — it was a beautiful day… When we finished, we were famished, so i looked at local places, recommended by my fellow Unilocalers, and found the Mill House Brewing company. Since we love our craft beers, and the review all seemed positive, we figured we’d check it out. The location is a little sketchy, but once you pull into the private parking lot, it’s like a whole different world! What a great building — brick front on the sidewalk, looks small, but then you pull in and realized it keeps going… There is an outdoor patio on the 2nd level(nobody was on it, but i could definitely see it being utilized — standing portable heaters, just in case…) We sat at the bar and were handed beer and brunch menus(since it was Sunday afternoon) — there was brunch fare, along with bar bites and lunch-type items. We each ordered a flight($ 15 for 5 pours) — there were 10 beers on draft, so we tried them all(every one was absolutely amazing — from the cucumber cream ale(GREAT summer-time beverage… although, not as good after sitting at room temperature — keep this one COLD) to the West coast IPA(we aren’t hop lovers, but could be made to be with beers like this) to the Russian Imperial Stout(over favs…) I ordered the veggie burrito for lunch — a flour wrap filled with grilled eggplant, zucchini, peppers, fresh mozzerella, and balsamic vinegar and a side of cold orzo salad. Hubby ordered the black and blue burger, medium(which came out perfect!) which came with Belgian fries — whatever they are, they are fantastic — thick cut, but dense, not ‘potato-y’, and just enough salt!(I could probably just eat those as a meal!) — the burger and wrap were a little greasy(as if there were too much oil on the grill) — but all-in-all, we were very happy with our meals and especially our beers(I have the rest of my wrap for lunch today!!). There is what seemed like a private room upstairs — very light and airy(lots of natural light) — looked like a great place for a shower or party(bathrooms are upstairs as well, so not too sure about impaired persons(elderly, wheelchair, etc…) — you may just want to double check that… But, definitely a thumbs up all around! We’ll be back!

I can no longer count the number of times I’ve been here. I’ve had almost everything on the menu. It literally took me a year to get past the sausages, brats n such. Since I’ve enjoyed the burgers, pizzas and apps. The poutine is insane!!! Their beers are pretty good, I think their cocktails are much better. The Shinebox is my favorite. They just started brunch the year; very tasty!!! New cocktails to go with the new menu items too. You should not miss a visit here if you’re in Poughkeepsie

It’s not very often that I leave a review for a place before I leave the table, but this place was that good that an immediate review was warranted. My friend and I threw back a couple of flights of beers(5 beers for $ 15) and were able to try the whole lot. Of the bunch, the Queen City Cucumber Cream Ale stole the show. If society wouldn’t negatively judge me so much for consuming the amount of this that I truly would like to, I just might take a bath in this beer. The food was called excellent, as many Unilocalers before had stated. So much, in fact, that we both ordered additional plates(even with limited space in our guts) — meatballs and pretzel bites. The second helpings were so good that I failed to take a photo of them before I ate. When the food is that good, that’ll happen. Our waitress was very professional, sweet and attentive. She didn’t hover around the table, but was there when we needed her; perfect, in my opinion. I’m elated to have tried this place and cannot wait to enjoy it again. What an experience!

Great beer, inventive and tasty food(flat bread pizzas!), and a friendly atmosphere and ambiance. And their brewmaster rocks. Keep up the good work.

I probably come here once a month and probably the best brewery in the Hudson Valley. First of all the décor is wonderful! Very cozy hip feel with the open brick walls and the lighting. If you get a chance try to reserve one of the booths on the first floor(seats 5 comfortably). The renovations to the restaurant are wonderful. Seating on all 3 floors! Which makes the restaurant great for the whole family or at the bar with a few friends and perfect for a date night! The staff are very polite and professional. The beers are great and have a wide variety from light to dark beers so great for all. Personal favorites are the Köld One and the PK pale ale. And the food is fantastic! If you’re a person who loves savory food this is the place for you. I’ve had a bunch of the appetizers from the Buffalo Brussels sprouts to the fried pickles and even the poutine. All the sausages are delightful, my personal favorite is the sage and garlic. The sandwiches and burgers are great as well. My fave is the«Porky» burger which has slow roasted pull pork and coleslaw on top of a burger… need I say more. They just don’t stop there the pizza is to die for. You can taste how fresh it is and the brick oven style is the best. My personal fave is the BBQ Pulled Pork pizza which feeds around 2 – 3 people. Hands down one of my favorite places in Poughkeepsie!

Their mixed drinks are really good and fairly priced, their menu has a wide variety of food from Pork to fish, everything I’ve had there has been delicious. Last time I had the pulled pork sandwich which I was a little hesitant about because lately wherever I get Pork it’s been dry, but not here. It was tender, juicy and the BBQ sauce was delicious!

Mill House is a beautiful restaurant and brewpub in Poughkeepsie serving good food and excellent beer. The atmosphere is very cozy and romantic, particularly on a cold winter day with the snow laying against the plate glass windows. It’s got an upscale farm house feel. The bar is huge and wraps around to two draft lines. Brewed on site are about 10 beers, from lager and pilsner to stouts. The nitro stout alone is worth the drive here. It’s so creamy and smooth it’s almost unbelievable. I didn’t love some of the hoppier beers, but the pilsner and especially the nitro stout were amazing. A tasting flight is a good way to try many of their beers. If I didn’t have to drive home, I’d still be there, enjoying the cozy space in the snow.

Holy fast. Party of 3. Ordered the all American burger, margahrita pizza and kids Mac /cheese. We ordered. Talked and like 5 mins or less later our meal was there’s. Fastest order received I’ve ever seen. Good was pretty good too. I’d recommend for sure.

What a hidden gem this place is! I had this bookmarked for a while now and randomly ended up only a few miles from here so we decided to stop in. First of all, I loved the décor! It was really modern and classy. Even though it was closed, I noticed they had a pretty good looking patio going on too. Seems like a great place to host a party. We sat in the bar area and immediately ordered their beer sample(no surprise!) This consists of of 5 large samples for $ 14 each. Between the two of us, we were able to try all the beers and even ordered the velvet panda two ways, one carbonated with C02 and one with Nitrate giving it two very different textures. This was a very interesting concept to me and ended up being our favorite beer! The food was also good, we just split the fig & pig pizza which was perfectly cooked and very tasty! People complained about the service issues here but I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. Even though we don’t require a lot of attention, our server seemed to be pretty good. I’d love to come back here with a group in the summer time.

After making our way over the WOTH, we walked over to this place. It is a little awkward when you walk in because if you have to wait, there is no where to really go — so you will see people awkwardly standing around, waiting for their tables. We had a flight, which provided an interesting variety of beers. We enjoyed it. The beer and cheddar soup was DELICIOUS. That was probably my favorite part of the entire meal. Burgers/sandwiches were fine — fries were okay but some things come with chips instead which we didn’t really care for at a place like this — things on the menu are a little pricey. Service could be improved. They were busy and some people seemed all over the place. At first, our waiter was attentive and on-point — then we asked for something and he never came back with it. There was also a crazy draft by where we were seated and I was COLD.

I fell in love with this place! Make a reservation if planning on going on a Saturday night, as the wait was over an hour for 2 people. We came back on a Sunday instead and it was perfect. Took a seat at the bar, ordered a few beers(Kold One mmm) and some bar bites. Got the fried pickles which were outrageous! They had a caesar salad on the specials menu and it was simply delicious. Cozy, warm atmosphere and friendly bartenders. It was a great time and I can’t wait to come back and try more off their menu– it all looks so good!

I love a good beer and smokey meats, and if you do too, get thee to Mill House!!! Boasting local ingredients and artfully crafted brews, I sucked back that first big drink of Alpha Amber with pure gusto — hoppy and smooth with just the right bit of bubble($ 6/pint and $ 4/half pint). The meal only got better with the coming of the cassoulet — salty, tender beans with a big, fat garlic sausage nestled into it, along with a few big pieces of duck bacon and a generous hunk of delicious braised pork belly($ 16). The combination was rich and satisfying after a brisk walk over the Hudson( ). Not much for wines, but that’s not a reason to stay away. My friend Cookie had a well-selected Cab Sav, WATTS(Lodi/CA — $ 9) and an app of pulled pork sliders($ 12) that all went down easily. The menu is meat heavy with a few fish and salad and veg options, so beware if you have picky friends: think pork ribs, smoked pork tenderloin and farmhouse chicken. Mill House Brewing Company is under the care of two brothers, Chris Crocco(general manager) and executive chef Daniel(a CIA grad!), along with Eric Baxter and brewmasters Jamie Bishop and Larry Stock. Bravo. I can’t wait to go back for more. Burp. Excuse me.

After a long walk on the Walkway Over the Hudson, of course, we need a place to eat. Local bars nearby don’t sound much enticing, so we decided to go this brewery called Mill House Brewing Company. From outside, this place looks like a big two story house, but once inside, you get a different feeling with all industrial design elements. There’s a patio on the second floor. Too bad it was too windy out. Menu looks pan-asian-latin-american to me. At a quick glance, you can see pork belly, chorizo, 5-spice, Pad Thai dressing and Sriracha sauce as ingredients. That makes this place even more interesting! We started with a beer flight(5 samples for $ 12); Köld One, Harvest Ale, Kilt Spinner, Vetvet Panda and Pops. Turned out Kilt Spinner was our favorite. As for food, we ordered Beer Steamed Mussels($ 9), The All American Burger($ 12), and Buffalo Fried Oyster Sliders($ 10). Mussels were tiny, but the broth was just right. Oyster Sliders are a must-try. They taste amazing!!! What a great idea! This place is great for watching games as well! On our way out, we ordered to two big cans(32 oz.) of Kilt Spinner, $ 13 apiece. If you’re a micro brew fan, add this place to your list.

Beer and bar foods here are awesome… stick with those. I would recommend the KO wings and the Velvet Panda… those were probably the best parts of the meal. Stay away from the ribeye… I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference between that and an Applebee’s steak. Super crowded, but to be fair we were there on a Saturday night. We were seated in the upstairs patio, but the service was still good and quick. Try the flight if you can… I think it’s 5 samples of their beers for about $ 12.

After reading the reviews of Mill House Brewing Co., we decided to give it a try. We were seated quickly and our server offered some suggestions and answered all of our questions about the menu items. When we asked a question she wasn’t sure of, she didn’t make something up(like a lot of servers do), but instead went and asked and came back to us with the answer. The food was served piping hot and was very flavorful. We started with an appetizer of fried pickle chips and Sriracha ranch dipping sauce. It was wonderful… although I had to ask for regular ranch because the sauce was a bit spicy. Next we had Beer & Cheddar soup with a hot pretzel stick. The soup was not overly salty(which many cheese based soups can be) and was quite tasty. My one criticism would be that the kitchen placed the pretzel directly into the soup. By the time I took a bite, it was quite soggy on the end. Nonetheless, I would order it again(with a note to the kitchen of the pretzel on the side). For our main course we ordered the Margherita Pizza. This is plenty for 2 people to share. If I had one criticism for this dish, it would be to add a little more basil(the few little pieces we had weren’t quite enough) and maybe add a bit more acidity to the sauce as it was a tad too sweet. Again, I would probably order this again in the future. Overall, good food, good prices and good service. Give it a try!

I first started going to Mill about a year ago, and I remember being sort of underwhelmed. BUT(and I really want to emphasize that). Mill House has been on fire lately. Lately, it seem like every time I go there, they have a few more customers, their bartenders are on POINT, and the atmosphere really hits a balance between being a fun Saturday night bar and a place to go unwind after work. I’ve only had a few things off their food menu and it was a while ago, so I’ll refrain from going into details on the few meals I’ve had there, but where this place shines is with their drinks and bar staff. I’m not typically a big cocktail person, but I make an exception when I go to Millhouse. The two I go back and forth on are the Mill House Rita(Serrano-infused Blanco Tequila, Lime, Agave, Cilantro) and the Beekeeper’s Daisy(Barr Hill Gin, Dry Curaçao, Thyme, St. Germain), though I’m definitely a bit more partial to the Rita. They also do this cute thing on their bar menu called«Shot and a Shorty,» which is a nine ounce pour of one of their beers, paired«with a complimenting spirit,» as their menu so eloquently describes a shot. Their beer list is absolutely wonderful. I hear a lot of Mill House customers rave about their Velvet Panda Nitro-Stout, but I haven’t had it(yet). I haven’t had it because I can’t break away from ordering the Alpha Amber, which I personally consider a near perfect beer — but that’s just me. The only qualm I have with Mill House is that they close too early on weekends. I’ve been there on several Fridays and Saturdays when last call was announced around 12:30 — bummer! Despite that, I absolutely love this bar and it’s quickly becoming a favorite go-to.

Another visit here, this time for a Unilocal event. We were in the brand new front room addition which is a great spot — close to the bar, but just far enough to still have conversation. Had my all time favorite beer — Panda Stout, which just keeps getting better. Smooth with just the right foamy head on it. Shared apps of panda poutine, fried pickles, spicy chickpeas, bbq wings and deviled eggs. Everything was delish — I’ve never had meatier wings before, but my fave of the night was the fried pickles. Couldn’t stop eating them! This place continues to be a great casual spot.

Damn these boys can brew! This microbrewery’s Velvet Panda stout is fine, the Hubar IPA is outstanding and the food is great too. Flights: 5 samples for $ 12. If you’re walking between the two bridges the Mill House Brewing Company is a few blocks out of your way, but totally worth the extra effort. Try the sausage! Wood-fired oven pizza is excellent also, ask them to burn it a little. Yeah it’s a little spendy, a personal pie is $ 15, but super yummy and you could totally split one with two people if you had an appetizer first, like maybe the poutine :-) Seriously, I’ve been to some little microbreweries where the brew was meh, drinkable at best. The beer here is 5 stars, ranks up with the finest out there, give it a chance and I think you’ll agree with me. As of December 2015 they’ll be distributing Milhouse beer in cans. No, not bottles, cans. I don’t understand either but look for it.
