Need a locksmith? Keep looking. Was able to make a quick appointment. Guy came, seemed to have worked longer than was necessary & going back & forth to his vehicle. No, I’m not a locksmith, obviously, but, literally, my closest friend is a retired locksmith/​instructor [living in FL, that’s why I didn’t call him]. Job? Install a dead bolt & new doorknob w/​lock. We pay & tip generously. Door doesn’t lock. We have to manipulate how the door closes to get it to line up to use the deadbolt. Close it, pull it back a fraction, lift door slightly, lock. We call, they ask what job, we tell them, they «sigh» (has this happened before? Hmmmm) «He’ll come back tomorrow & take care of it.» He comes back, digs out the hole in the frame & says fixed. (Then I think he wanted another tip!) Guess what? Still doesn’t close & lock properly. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We found if you lock the doorknob first the deadbolt will lock. We asked him to look at another door. An outside security door who’s lock didn’t work & we wanted an estimate. He said, «Um, I don’t know, I don’t have that, if would have to be ordered.» We already knew what was wrong, when the door was installed with handle no one bored out the hold in the frame for the bolt. We did it ourselves. We could have called them back again, but why? If they didn’t do it right the first 2 times why go for a third? The second star was because we were able to get an immediate appointment, so points for that.

Fast, friendly, and great prices. Used KD locksmith a few times and I can’t say enough about Dooley. I would definitely recommend them.

KD locksmith was the only choice last Memorial Day weekend. No other company even answered their phone! Even though they were located an hour and half from my home in Redhook, they came and responded to all my anxious calls as I waited. Once they arrived, they were warm, friendly and got me back into my house within minutes. They also gave me and my friend free swag — pens and a bottle opener keychain with a flashlight. They really saved the day and I’d recommend KD locksmith to anyone.

Excellent business. I recently got a key stuck in my door lock on a Friday evening after work. I was not able to get the broken key out of the lock so I started looking for a locksmith. The only one to answer the phone was KD Locksmith. The gentleman I spoke with was nice enough to drive in and meet me at the Poughkeepsie location. In a short amount of time, the key was dislodged, the lock cylinder was repaired, I had two new keys, and I was back home for dinner. The price was more than reasonable and I can’t recommend KD Locksmith enough. I also learned my lesson about going to a big hardware chain to get keys duplicated!
