A good place to get just about anything that is needed (ie. lottery tickets, snacks, etc). They also have quite a selection of newspapers and magazines, hence the name «Market Square News»! This is also about the only place in the area where I can get the Globe, so I’m happy!

I dropped by Market Square News all the time when I lived and worked in downtown Portsmouth. It was a good place to buy snacks and lottery tickets, and the people working there were generally pleasant. They’ve expanded their hours in the five years since the last review was written, but they’re still not open very late.

Redwood City, CA
A large, indoor news stand about a block down Congress St. from Market Square. In the land of restaurants and boutiques, this was the only place we could find in downtown Portsmouth that had sundries such as aspirin. Though you pay out the nose for it ($ 1.25 for a two-​pack!!). It closes early; We came by again before dinner and it was locked up.
