Bobbles & Lace

Everything in this store is absolutely beautiful — with a price that is reasonable. However, the cashier never looked away from the computer screen or left from behind her desk. I never got a hello or a goodbye, and I felt like I was being watched; and it made me uncomfortable. I love little boutiques but customer service is really what sells their products to me. I will be stopping in again because I can’t get over their jewelry but customer service? Maybe that’ll be better next time.

This store opened up in a sort of hidden nook in Portsmouth, near Subway & around the corner from The District, where a gross old headshop used to be. I stopped by because a server at The District was wearing a gorgeous pair of shoes, & when I complimented her on them, she told me they came from Bobbles & Lace, so I stopped in. Beautiful stock, super-​friendly staff. Everything in the store is less than $ 100 (& shipping is free if you order online). The shoes I wanted were out, but the staffer I spoke with looked them up for me at another store & was very chatty when prompted about the store’s philosophy & style. She greeted every shopper personally, had lots to offer in the way of styling tips & suggestions, & was overall just really friendly, but not in a pushy or annoying way. Even though they didn’t have the shoes I’d come for, I walked away with an equally cute pair in hand, & I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town (I JUST MOVED — so sad). This shop is a real get for the ladies of the Seacoast!
