I am so glad we went in!!! We walked in and were immediately greeted by a very nice man who gave us maps and brochures for a ton of cool stuff ! We had originally wanted to go to Mt. Saint Helens, little did we know it was closed for the winter! This nice man told us about the waterfalls on highway 30 and the fruit loop. Turned out to be a great day trip !!!

Lots of brochure and very helpful and friendly staff. This is a must visit place if you are a tourist. Especially if this is your first time coming here. It’s located downtown and in a very central location. I suggest you park and then walk there. As well they have computer on side to show you what you might see at certain locations. Also they have discounts coupon as well. For example Amtrak

The Oregon Visitor Information Center is a good place to visit whether you are a visitor or a resident. This is especially due to lots of the information being about things in this state that are far away from Portland. You can get both new discounts and update your information in response to recent changes, and then some. It helps that the Trimet Ticket Office is adjacent to the visitor center.
I haven’t been here since I returned from my Pacific Northwestern hiatus, until now. There are all kinds of brochures, information listed on tablets and more. I look forward to saving tons of money from here in my coming years.
There is always more learn about Oregon.

We were in Portland for the day and stopped at the Visitor Center to find a playground for the kids. The somewhat smart aleck volunteer recommended a park a few blocks away. We were very thankful and headed in that direction. Once we were at the park we were horrified that he would send a family here. We were in the skidrow of Portland. Homeless people were sleeping all around us and a fight broke out amongst a few of them in the less then 10 minutes we were there. We got out of there! Could not believe he would send a family there!

I was in downtown for some errands so popped in to the visitor info center to get some propaganda for my wife. I had a wonderful conversation with one of the volunteers, a lovely lady in her eighties, lifelong resident. Helpful, knowledgeable, generous in advice and important bits of info.

This has got to be the BEST Visitors Center on the planet!
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly.
There is a TON of info on everything there is to do and see in PDX, Oregon and the Northwest.
Maps, brochures and pamphlets that cover museums, outdoorsey stuff, restaurants, scenic drives and several area brochures (Downtown, Mississippi, Alberta, Pearl, Hawthorne districts and more!
They also sell attraction passes that give you a major discount on local attractions. We bought them last time but did not purchase them this time because we had a long list of things to see that we haven’t been to before.
Adjacent (inside) to the Visitor Info Center is a window that sells transit passes. There is also a display of transit maps and schedules.
There is also a Visitor Info Center at the PDX airport with an impressive amount of info plus a person to answer questions!

Wow, the people who work here (actually, I think they’re all volunteers) are the nicest people.
There were a ton of pamphlets and brochures to take (though you’re only limited to two for each attraction– why you need two of the same thing, I’m not entirely sure). The guy told me I should figure out what I wanted to see and tell Skylar so she could take me.
He picked out a few things for me including a map of Downtown.
The best pamphlet though was the obscure Portland museums one. Did you know there’s a hat museum?! Or a BMX museum? Or a skateboard museum? Yeah, cool stuff.
There’s also a penny smashing machine and I acquired another two for my 5000+ pressed penny collection. Cheap souvenirs!
