Urbaca Salon is phenomenal! The front desk is always professional and welcoming from the minute I walk in the door. I’ve been seeing Caitlyn for a little over a year, and I always love my hair! She is a amazing with red color and various highlights. I highly recommend this salon! I always leave with a great color and style.

Every time I come here I leave happy. The reception staff welcomes you, takes your jacket and offers you a beverage. They are friendly, outgoing and make you feel welcome. The stylists are all friendly as they take their clients back. I always see Caitlyn and she does an amazing job! She listens to what you want but also offers great advice on what will work. I honestly feel like I’m hanging out chatting with a girlfriend the entire time. I highly recommend the salon!

By far the best salon in town! All the stylists are meticulous and know their stuff. Great aesthetics too! You won’t be disappointed!

Typically I get my haircut at barber shops like Modern Man or Throne, but was recommended by a friend to check out Urbaca Salon. Danae was very professional and happy to help me set up an appointment. Upon arrival, I was offered a beverage and introduced to Caitlyn. Caitlyn was very knowledgeable and attentive to my requests and offered great suggestions and tips. She did an excellent job and can carry on a great conversation which made the experience worthwhile. Overall, great experience/​atmosphere and I highly recommend.

When I need a pick-​me-​up, Laci is the perfect medicine! As a girl with curly blonde hair that is also thin, it’s really tough to find someone that understands. That is, until I met Laci! She always knows the perfect way to do my layers, she styles it so I look like a hair model, and she is also easy to talk with. More importantly, I feel like I’m able to do my hair on my own with some of her tips. I tend to wait a while between cuts (not that I suggest this), but I’ve found that my grow out is soooo much better than it ever has been before because of the great cuts. I would highly suggest going to see Laci!

The salon has great atmosphere and my girl Heather does an amazing cut and color. She has the ability to create great styles that work with my hair thickness and texture. I have the confidence to let her get creative.

I’ve been coming to Urbaca Salon since 2007. Sherry does an amazing job on my brow waxing, I’ve never been disappointment. She is always punctual and profession. She somehow makes what could be a painful experience, relaxing. Her room is calming, great atmosphere. Receptionist are friendly, they always offer you a beverage… Coffee, wine, water. There is free parking. Urbaca Salon makes your feel special from the moment you enter the salon.

She is a color expert and instructor. She will listen to you to learn your desires – then perform her magic to transform you even better than you thought! Her wit, humor and pleasant conversation make for a fabulous experience. All staff are friendly from the moment you enter the door and throughout your visit. You will be asked if you’d like a beverage of your choice. Urbaca makes you feel special!

Amanda was super sweet and understanding when I mixed up my spot time and came a bit late: she also did a great job with my haircut.

This is a wonderful place. Everyone is so proficient and skilled, but Gretchen especially is amazing. She has seen me go from short to long, from natural to color, and has had such really good advice in each step. She totally listens to what you want, clarifies with her suggestions, and then performs her magic to make you look gorgeous. Indeed, I sometimes call her Professor Gretchen because of what she has taught me about at-​home hair techniques so you don’t only look amazing after you go there.
For eyebrows, Sherry also is truly wonderful. If you have any question about taming the jungle above your peepers, just tell her your parameters, lie back, and with a few quick rips you’re ready to sign up to model your forehead.
The salon has tons of urban chic vibe & great high-​touch customer service, totally without breaking the bank. AND **free parking**, almost unheard of in this neighborhood. They also do great makeup consultations & special occasions, and sometimes do
classes on ask sorts of topics.
I owe a huge debt to the girlfriend who first pointed me toward Gretchen, and now there’s a whole huge coterie of us who sing her praises. Truly, wizard-​like skill.
Really, just make an appointment. You can thank me later. :)

I LOVE this place and eveyone there! Friendly, stylish, knowledgeable, hip and comfy are just a few of the ways I’d describe the whole scene. I’ve seen Chelsie for years and just adore her. It’s always a great experience. Her cut & color are a great boost to my day. The front staff are always happy and helpful, especially Danae. Love the location and free parking too. In the summer they open the side doors and let the vibe of Portland seep in. Call me a client for life!

Gretchen is the best! I see her for both hair cuts and color. She is extremely talented in both and I would recommend her to everyone. I’ve tried many different places in Portland, but Gretchen is my all time favorite.

Excellent service from the front desk to Gretchen, the lady who cut my hair, they were all very personable and Gretchen was great at explaining the products that she was using and of course did an awesome cut! I will be going back for sure.

I came in for a last minute color correction emergency and I’m so glad I did!
I had used a Groupon with another salon to try them out, and it was a disaster! (I wanted a dark blonde all over color and came out looking like a skunk with highlights from the late 90’s, with every color from white blonde to dark brown thrown in there to make a lovely gray at the ends.)
My co-​worker recommended I check out Urbaca so I ran down to them almost in tears about my now awful, embarrassing hair color. They got me in to see Caitlin the next afternoon and she made me feel so much better. I was about to go on a weeklong tropical vacation and she made sure my hair looked good again before I left– she got rid of the chunky highlights on top of my hair and made sure the ends blended and weren’t a funky gray color. We could only do so many processes in the 3 hours I was there before my vacation so I have another appointment coming up where we can finish the process and she can get me to the color I had initially wanted when I had first started out on this adventure, so I’m excited to see the end result (although everyone says it looks great just as it is!).
I went in for a quick hair cut last week (with Caitlin, of course), and came out with a really great cut– it looks super healthy and soft. She cut the exact amount I asked her to, not an inch more! Plus, Caitlin took her time and gave me a really nice, relaxing scalp massage that made my day!
What I love about Caitlin is she takes the time to look at the pictures I’m showing her, makes sure she understands exactly what I’m going for, shows me color swatches to be even more sure we’re on the same page, and talks about what we can realistically do in one sitting. After a year of unlucky experiences trying to find my permanent Portland stylist, I’m happy to have found a great one in Caitlin!

Urbaca is hands down the most modern, clean, well laid out, naturally lit salon I’ve ever stepped foot in. Not only is it beautiful, it feels open and airy and the staff is incredibly welcoming. They take care of your coat and offer you coffee/​tea/​water/​wine as soon as you check in. Those leather chairs in the lounge are so comfy!
Laci is my stylist and I’m ashamed to admit I found her using a living social deal the salon did to get her some clientele as she was new to town a few years ago. I’m proud to say nobody else has cut, colored or styled my hair since. The only reason it took me three years to write this review is because I just joined Unilocal.Before Laci, the only stylist I truly loved was when I lived in Japan. Nobody came close to cutting my Asian hair the way he did until Laci, and the kicker? She got me into color. We started with highlights and now I’m all about the ombré. She is always smiling, honest and extremely talented. I’m always surprised by how time flies when I visit the salon. She makes it go by fast with good conversation and her educational hair tips.
I hate saying this because I know you’re supposed to go more often, but I honestly get my hair cut at most four times a year. But I bring this up because Laci’s cuts always last that long and still look great. Being Asian, I hated coloring my hair because it always turned out to be this super brassy, coppery, orange-​ish color. Since Laci, though, it’s maintained the perfect blonde/​caramel color. She recommended I try the KMS leave-​in conditioner to keep it healthy and it’s worked so well. One bottle lasts me 6 months-​money well spent if you ask me.
Laci came in an hour before opening at 9 am to curl my hair for my engagement shoot last Friday. At this point, I just tell her a general idea of what I’m going for and let her do her thing. I completely trust her. She curled my hair and at first I was worried because the curls were too tight. I specifically wanted loose voluminous curls and she explained she did it this way so they’d last throughout the shoot. She wasn’t wrong: they loosened up over time and stayed good until 5pm! I’ve attached photos from the shoot with Jamie Jones Photography. Everything good about my hair is because of Laci. Love her!

This review is long overdue, I bookmarked Urbaca Salon so I could write them a raving review! Since the whole city is snowed in, it’s time to catch up on my Unilocaling!
I took my husband and my son to Urbaca for his first haircut!!! Gretchen cut my husband’s hair first so my son could watch his daddy get his haircut. :) So cute! When it came time to cut his hair, they let him play with the water where he would usually get his hair washed (he was too small to actually sit back and get his hair washed), he really enjoyed playing and it helped put him at ease. The actual haircut part was fine, he sat in my husband’s lap and got a basic haircut — toddlers are wiggly. :) We saved some of his locks and took some pictures.
