Umpqua Bank

While the main corporate contacts are impersonal and unhelpful, the employees at this branch have always been kind and helpful. They recently made an unfortunate situation right in order to keep my business, so I am going out of my way to write this review, telling you all that they are awesome.

«Worst Bank Ever» Terrible Online App, Terrible website. Worst customer service. I cannot log on to their website without calling them. Average hold time is 20min. Wishing my loan was through a different bank. I would never personally bank through this company.

Good customer service and they’re charitable. I’ve been banking here for almost three years and for the most part everyone has been courteous and helpful.

World’s Greatest Bank? Anytime a corrupt criminal corporation states something like this you can be sure the truth is the opposite. This was actually a decent bank until around 2011 when they decided to become like every other bank and started eating up smaller banks. Charging small businesses tons of fees for formerly free accounts, an online banking system that doesn’t work and constantly changes, not remotely ²⁴⁄₇ (good luck finding phone help even around 5), weekends where the entire system is down (yeah, a small business gets to take weekends off), accounts literally disappearing (I have screen shots), inability to locate accounts for tax purposes because they had a «system changeover», etc. Literally the worst bank in the world for small business. The amount of personnel turnover says it all.

Just another big bank that has terrible phone service. Don’t fall for their friendly and local hype.

Watch out if your balance is zero for only 10 days they will automatically close your account without informing you. Even if you have an account that doesn’t require a minimum balance. The employees are friendly but the practices of the corporate bank aren’t very customer friendly. I was a customer for 6 years and that still didn’t matter. The worst part is I still have direct deposits coming in after they didn’t inform me of the closure. I think I will stick with my community credit union instead of trying to reopen the account, because who knows when they might just close it on me again.

Disappointing day at Umpqua Bank. I visited two branches trying to open a simple business account. I had even called beforehand to confirm I could just walk-​in, but instead of getting someone at the branch number listed on Google, I got a call center in Roseburg. So I walked 20min to the first branch (Alberta St.) where there was a long line, 4 people behind the counter, but only 2 doing anything. After 15min and no one moving, I left. I tried again later in the day at a different branch (Beaumont-​Wilshire), where there was a much shorter line, but when it was my turn, I was told it would be best if I had an appointment as other appointments would be coming in soon. Of course, no mention of that when I had called earlier that day, and no place to schedule an appointment online or way to reach someone at the local brand. So, instead of wasting more time with a big bank trying to pretend its small, I walked a block down the street to Albina Community Bank and opened got my account opened right away. They’re not as well-​braned as Umpqua, but also don’t over-​promise to be the greatest bank in the world, when they’re not even the best bank on that block.

Sucks so bad!
Three years ago I was thrilled with Umpqua Bank. Now, it has become just another hard –to-​reach, hard-​to-​deal with, voice-​prompt-​hell that other banks are. I actually pulled my own hair in frustration. I cannot get on to my account AND the number I am supposed to call after 7am tells me – after going through numerous voice prompts — that the number is not available to me. What does that even mean?
I get $ 100 if I change my account to the credit union that currently has my car loan. It is small — I fear it growing and becoming impersonal like Umpqua — but I have to do SOMETHING.
I HATE THIS BANK!!!

Worst possible service i have received from a bank in my 30+ years of life. If your looking for a bank that has good coffee, than perhaps this bank is for you, but if your looking for good customer service and a bank that actually cares, turn elsewhere. I applied for a Green Street loan, good credit (although i had just bought a house) and high income, it was for 12,000 dollars, it took them over 3 weeks to run my credit, when they finally did they then said they needed more documents, so spent a few days finding every little piece of paper they wanted. Then they claimed they denied us based on our «credit score»? This is was the most difficult loan i ever applied for in my life, many times to call and ask questions about the documents they needed, loan officers were either on break or not in the office or at lunch, ridiculous. Worse possible experience with a bank imaginable. If you look at other sites who have review for this bank, they are all very low, which makes me think it is Umpqua’s employee writing these reviews!

I came to Umpqua at the recommendation of my daughter who had transferred personal as well as professional accounts to them. After years of being with a small local credit union, I felt that the customer service had become less of an importance to their organization. To me it is paramount. The staff at the Fremont location offers exemplary service! Friendly, yet professional, personable and capable, they have been a delight to work with. I won’t go anyplace else .

Umpqua Bank is great. It’s stable, sensible, and the staff are really nice. This location has had the same staff for years, so it must be a pleasant place to work. And the staff are friendly, helpful, and very thorough when explaining their services and options.
My husband and I re-​financed our house through Umpqua, and then took out a home equity loan to finance an adoption, and they have been enormously helpful, fast, accurate, and they have a good suite of services.
All of their little extras and perks also make them seem very human — like it’s not just a huge, faceless corporation. They offer cookies on Fridays, have a fun display of children’s books in the foyer, have dog biscuits available, and a big bowl of water outside. They also gave us a pound of *really* good coffee when we opened a checking account with them.
They also have secure after-​hours banking, so when you want to use their ATM machine, you swipe your card to enter their foyer with the ATM machine in it, and then no one else can enter while you are using the machine. Wow! That’s a very good idea. I also like the fact that they have a lot of local, neighborhood branches. We’ve been going to this branch on Fremont, and then they opened another branch on Alberta, just a few blocks from our house. It’s more like banking in England — local and personal. I like it!

This is by far the best banking experience I have ever had. It feels nothing like other banks that create an atmosphere of a seedy money exchange. Nathan and Crystal always provide us with an outstanding banking experience.

Honestly– you couldn’t ask for a better bank. They have put fun back into banking– and you didn’t even know that you would even dream of such a thing!
They are a locally owned Oregon bank– FDIC insured! They did not get mucked up in the mortgage crisis so they are stable.
They have good business practices like processing credits at midnight the day they are deposited into your account and the funds are available the next day.
They have free checking and if you open a money market account you can tie that account to your personal account. In the event that you go into negative on your personal account then they pull enough money to cover all transactions from your money market account — AND– only charge you $ 5 for the lot!
They have extended business hours and are open on Saturdays!
They have free computers and free Internet to use while you hang out at the coolest bank EVER!
They provide free coffee, tea and hot chocolate — at all open times!
On Fridays they have complimentary cookies too! (but get there early to do your banking– they are usually gone by 4:00 pm!)
They feature local businesses and sell their stuff on a nice display table in their lobby — at no charge to the business!
They have nicely designed artwork and logos! (The personal debit cards are so pretty! — yes I am a girl!!)
There is usually NO WAIT to do your banking!
(I cant remember ever just walking into WAMU and getting to a teller in less than 15 minutes at WAMU!)
They give you chocolates when you make a deposit. (and dog biscuits to your dog!)
They treat you like their best friend every time you go in.
(Maybe its me) but they are just NICE!
The NE Fremont branch is my bank and I love it. Their staff are the friendliest and the most professional. (I am sure the other branches are good but I don’t have the good fortune to attend them all.)
I have banked here for almost 2 years. And I just like them!
So get your banking ON here! You will be sooo glad you did!
