Beaumont Vision

I’ve been going here too long to not write a review for this place. Dr. Lewis has been and is currently helping me through glaucoma. I’m right on that edge of medication or not for this disease. Because I’m on the younger side for the average glaucoma patient, he is attacking it in every way possible. When one medication doesn’t work or causes an allergic reaction, he is right there holding my hand through the process. Dr. Lewis is super easy to talk to. He spends time with his patients and makes them feel comfortable with the decisions he is making.
The people he uses up front for insurance and glasses are also right on point. They are helpful without being pushy. I’m sure you could find glasses cheaper somewhere else, but strong customer service has me coming back every time.

Optometry: My wife and I have been going to see Dr. Lewis for 12 years and we have had nothing but positive experiences. Dr. Lewis is knowledgeable, experienced, and trustworthy. He’s also a great communicator. He explains what’s going on with your eyes in plain English and is always willing to answer any questions you might have. We’ve also seen Dr. Pajot on different occasions and she is also very competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. She was especially helpful explaining color blindness to my young son.
Optician Services: The frames are a bit on the expensive side, but I’ve learned that it’s because they don’t source frames from the Luxottica conglomerate. This is why I included «socially responsible» above. They’re opticians have educated me on this (see:
). They also use high quality lens manufacturers like Zeiss, which is especially important if you have a difficult prescription. The opticians here are very helpful in breaking down the costs of lens features and what insurance will cover. I’ve also never felt pressured to add on lens features that I didn’t want to pay for. The ONLY issue I’ve had is with getting my glasses fitted for comfort and have gone elsewhere to get my frames adjusted when needed. That said, you will be properly measured to ensure that the lens is set up in the frame properly in relation to your eye.
Administration/​Reception: The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Scheduling appointments has never been an issue. I always get reminders via post card and my appointments are confirmed by phone. I receive the confirmations in time to cancel or reschedule the appointment if needed (they have a 24 hour cancellation policy like most places). They have also been very helpful and accommodating in getting summary statements for HSA/​FSA.
I’ve been going to optometrists for over 30 years and have worn glasses and contact lenses my entire adult life. I’ve also recently had Lasik. I trust Beaumont Vision and would highly recommend their service.

I went to Beaumont on a referral from a friend.. . from the minute I stepped in, I was treated wonderfully. From the manager, to the staff — I was listened to and my needs were met. I actually ended up picking a frame that didn’t work out and when I called to find out what my options were, they couldn’t have been more accomodating. They ordered a new frame — no hassles and they did it with a smile.
I will definately use Beaumont Vision for all of my future eye glass needs. Their selection is trendy and different than what you get at one of the mall stores. .. AND they are so helpful in helping you pick out ones that fit your face and style!

Dr Lewis is great! He looks after his patients eye sight as well as budget. However, the front area really can use a remodel. Better lighting, seating and newer glass cases. It’s starting to look a bit run down. Not very inviting. Dr. Lewis keeps me coming back.

John Lewis has been my doctor for the past few years and has been very supportive. I just went to progressive lenses and the expectations he set were spot on. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to his skillful care and the wonderful staff he has working at his shop on Fremont.

I have always received fabulous service at Beaumont Vision. Dr. Lewis is very knowledgeable, as is his staff. Even though we live on the west side of town, we’ve been going there for over 4 years now. Would highly recommend.

Over the past 8 years, I’ve dealt with three different insurance companies, thus three different optometrists. I will admit that Dr. Lewis is the most knowledgeable doctor I’ve had yet. He is full of information that is applicable to the everyday person. He holds a variety of degrees and certificates from esteemed institutions. I have mad respect for his advice… especially since I will need my eyes for another 50 years… maybe more.

Having worn glasses and/​or contacts for most of my life, I have visited my fair share of eye doctors, vision centers, optometrists, and so on. Beaumont Vision outshines them all. The whole staff is always very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Dr. Lewis gives a very thorough exam and then afterward takes the time to patiently explain what’s he seen and what the options are. My very apprehensive 7-​year-​old daughter just had her first full eye exam there, and Dr. Lewis totally put her at ease and got her excited about wearing glasses. Their selection of glasses, by the way, is wide and diverse — so many great choices! I can’t recommend Beaumont Vision highly enough.

Two years ago I got a pair of glasses at Beaumont Vision. Two years on the coating is coming off. I went in to check if there was any thing they would do. The receptionist looked at my record, said my warranty had just expired. I mentioned that customer service mattered and I needed two new pairs of glasses. But there was nothing she could do. Disappointed as I like to shop local.

After moving to Portland, I feel really lucky to have come across Beaumont Vision. Dr. Lewis and his staff have been so helpful ever since my first appointment two years ago. I had a chronic case of dry eye and got a lot of care from Beaumont Vision. They squeezed me in last minute when my eyes were really bothering me, and with their knowledge my eyes have felt the best they have in a long time. Comfortable office and a fantastic variety of frames too.
I experienced outstanding customer service today as Shenya insisted that I come in and get my glasses adjusted (even through they were just about to leave for the day!) since I had already made the trip to see them. I feel like customer service like that is hard to come by and definitely wanted to give a shout out! Thank you Beaumont Vision!

I’ve been going to eye doctors for over fifty years, and Dr. John Lewis is the best one I’ve ever seen. My eyes are complicated and they keep changing, so I go in yearly for check-​ups. Dr. Lewis keeps me informed on all the changes and helps me know when I really need a new prescription and when I can go a year without. I am truly sorry to read the negative reviews (each person is entitled to his/​her own opinion, of course), but I would hope people would give this most excellent doctor a chance to prove his value. The office has brought in a second doctor and has replaced the receptionist who created the problem for Jules F., so know that Dr. Lewis watches out for what’s going on and strives to earn and keep his patients’ trust and business.

I’m sorry to say I won’t be going back to Beaumont Vision.
I went in with my own prescription so I only needed to purchase frames. It like felt their advice leaned more toward clearing inventory rather than an honest fashion critique, and have to say I’m not thrilled with my new look. What really bothered me was, when I went in to pick up my glasses (which they never called to tell me were ready) I was handed the glasses case with my new glasses in them. I asked if someone would be checking me for a fit? I was asked, «well, do they feel okay?» I said I guess they feel okay, so she said «Then they’re fine».
I’ve worn glasses most of my life and have Never had this kind of experience! I was so taken aback I just paid and left with my glasses. I’ll be taking them somewhere else to be fitted. Beaumont Vision lost me forever as a customer. Sad too because I love to support all my neighborhood businesses!

the gals upfront are so helpful. My husband and I have bought
several pairs here and plan on going back soon.

Overall, I’ve been happy with Beaumont Vision. Dr. Lewis does a very good job and seems to keep abreast of current ophthalmology research. I’ve bought two pairs of glasses from there and have found them to have a good variety of frame styles.

Both my wife and I have purchased glasses here and have had good experiences. My pair had a manufacturing issue with the coating on one lense clouding. They immediately corrected the problem at no charge. A year later I messed up both lenses (I’m hard on glasses) and they ordered me new lenses at no charge. They were clear that this was a one-​time deal but that was okay with me as I did not expect them to do this free of charge. It was not there fault. Anyhow, I was impressed.
I say give them a chance, especially if you live in the neighborhood.

About a year ago I had a severe eye issue. I was new to the area so I did some research to find a good ophthalmologist in this city and decided to go with Dr. Lewis and I’m glad I did. He and the staff treated me wonderfully, fixed me up and even cut me some slack on the bill since i had to keep going in for follow-​ups. Dr. Lewis knows what he’s doing and if there is anything wrong he puts it very well in layman’s terms. And they don’t try to push products on you like some other places do. They’re more interested in your health. I continue to go here for all my eye care, its worth the money.

I don’t want ANY local business to suffer because of my review unless they are doing harm. My hope is that the owners will know that when I walked in today (looking pretty frumpy), the receptionist treated me like she could care less if I was there. When I said goodbye, she said «yeah». I know I looked like crap, I’m actually not at my best today, but I did have an VSO insurance card in my purse and they did lose a sale.
Funny how the receptionist can often be the most important person in the company. Something to consider because the owners could have been the nicest people in the world.
