The Third Eye Shoppe is Portland’s premier counterculture destination. In our two floors of merchandise, we carry a wide variety of products for all your needs. Downstairs you will find raw and polished gems, jewelry, detox products, posters, candles and incense. Other fun stuff includes t-​shirts, bumper stickers, and gifts. Upstairs in our smoke shop, you will find Portland’s largest selection of glass pipes, rolling papers, and tobacco wraps. We strive to provide the best collection of local glass at the most affordable prices.

History

Established in 1987.

The Third Eye Shoppe was opened on July 1st, 1987 by hemp revolutionaries Jack Herer, and «Captain» Ed Adair. Initially, it was just a head shop, but over the last 25 years we have evolved to be much more. We look forward your you stopping by and checking us out.

The store is well stocked but I really didn’t like the manner of the guy trying to help me. He was very ingenuine, only recommended the most expensive items and by the end, was just rude to me when he gave me an incorrect price for an item. Many head shops near by with same prices so it’s the service that makes a difference as well as a return of a customer. This guy, bulky and bearded with glasses, did just the opposite.

Went in yesterday with friend. Bought awesome green bong that is black light friendly, for 18 bucks. Guy is really nice upstairs and always proffesional. Love the shop, great prices and excellent service. I have a question though; do you buy water pipes, like from a customer? I want to sell my old one

I love the combination of the head shop & crystals being sold here. They have some great herbal vaporizer blends upstairs, which is handy for those looking to ease off smoking cigarettes. I love to check out their jewelry but my favorite is their open crystal case, where you’ll find great prices on crystal points, pieces of amethyst and citrine thunder eggs, and fossils. Best prices I’ve found thus far on black kyanite wings. They also have a variety of posters, tapestries, and prayer flags. Always worth a stop in to see what new items they’ve picked up.

They have always taking care of he Ommp community very very well — great glass both high end and cheaper /​very cool staff … Love that u can get a cold drink on the way out .

Went here to find some crystals. They had a pretty decent selection. Service was okay nothing special. The plus was prices are fair. They are more of a smoke shop then anything. From what it looked like their selection in that area is great

Perfect place to buy everything you need for chakras. They have every stone that you can think of the lady will even order the stones that you want.
They have a variety of incenses, a ton of candles usually sold out of sage which is a bummer because I like to just go to one place and get everything I need at a good price.
Tarot cards & Crystal jewelry are other things they carry. There’s even a smoke shop on the 2nd floor, that has every single thing you could ever want for your smoking needs.

I’d be lying if I said this was still my favorite head shop. There are 2 other awesome shops within a couple blocks that stiffen the competition. For glass, Mellow Mood is the best. For papers or «other» paraphernalia, Nomad’s. Third eye is still totally decent, just hard to go there when the other places are so close! I still love Third Eye for my «hippie» needs like incense and some crystals.
But hey check em all out yourself. It’s certainly convenient and I think there’s room for everyone. they’re all doing it a little different and they’re all super nice. And it was started by Jack Herer in the 80s, much respect to that legacy and history.

Way stellar shop. The whole staff was super friendly and helpful. I got quite a bit of my holiday shopping done and spent a fraction of what I would have for the same items in Reno. I love this shop so much. The guy who helped us was phenomenal and even has his own blown glass! He was sooooo helpful and even have us free wick samples :) I got the cutest baby pipe and my boyfriend had gotten a standard deep pipe with a vatra case. The staff are very helpful, and the prices are very reasonable and have quite the selection. Coming back here definitely when I head back to PDX

This place is great! Went in here today on a quest to buy the perfect sterling silver rings to bolster my jewelry box. Luckily, I came to the right place. They had an excellent selection of high quality rings, sorted by size. I ended up buying three gorgeous rings: one with a garnet and a moonstone, one with a narrow oval amber, and one with five garnets in a vertical formation. My friend found a unique four stone diamond shaped amber ring as well. The prices were fair to begin with, but the guy behind the counter knocked it down to something less painful. Every little bit helps.
There were also tie-​dyed clothes, incense, and other hippie items around. The atmosphere was friendly and the guys there provided great customer service, providing me with the business card of a local who mends rings after overhearing of my broken ring plight. The Third Eye is worth stopping into during any trip to Hawthorne.

This place and Mellow Mood have very friendly staff. I’m sort of shy of smoke shops because I’ve been to some very unfriendly ones but this place has a very welcoming set up and attitude.
The downstairs shop is great for trinket lovers. Very pretty peacock feathers for just $ 1 each, polished rocks of all different prices (starting at $ 1, I believe), and many other collectibles and decorations, all for reasonable prices from what I saw. They also sell some books and magazines here. If I get a chance to come back I will definitely get a unicorn poster ($ 8).
The shop has three parking spots of its own.

Third Eye is great for all of my glassware needs and beyond. Their selection is vast and reasonable. The employees are generally friendly and usually helpful. I have had interactions that were completed quickly due to competent and knowledgeable staff and I have had encounters that took ten minutes because of a lackadaisical confused person behind the counter. But it’s a headshop so I guess you gotta give ‘em a little leeway.
Overall their value and the selection keep me coming back.

Now I find it a little odd to be admitting to my bad habits on Unilocal!,but I can’t help but review establishments that deserve a shout out for being awesome. The Third Eye is awesome. From the pleasantly crowded merchandise all the way up to the costumer service I have never once been disappointed by The Third Eye. Despite my «1 Check-​In» I’ve stopped by a number of times to pick up essentials.
On the first floor you will find your run of the mill incense and other hippie accoutrements. I usually browse a bit and almost always end up walking out of the shop with some new, nice smelling item, be it a candle, incense, or oil.
Now the second floor… That’s where you’ll find the goodies. There are enough papers, pipes, grinders, vaporizers, and general smoking miscellanea to delight even the most jaded of us. I try to set aside time when I’m not rushed for my visits to the Third Eye simply because I enjoy browsing the cases and staring at the walls like a novice. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to be a smoker (tobacco or marijuana) to enjoy the fantastic array of supplies. Chat with the guys upstairs, learn a bit, enjoy the scenery.
Most importantly, have a good chuckle at the various posters lining the walls and staircase. I really dig the Third Eye and everything it has to offer… Man.
