I like the wine selection and bottle shop at this place. The back patio is pretty with bamboo, a smoking zone, a non smoking zone and pretty lights. Appetizers are yummy. Main courses are small and a little pricy– I usually go somewhere else for a full meal. I heard they are moving to a new location, which is super sad. I think they should stay in N. Portland.

Awesome sauce. You can smell the bacon wrapped dates a block away. Chill vibe with creative and rock solid food. Great place for a chill date night.

This place makes me conflicted. It’s overpriced. The burger is really good though. It’s a little pretentious. Sometimes, the beer selection is great. The patio is just gravel. But the bottle shop is reasonably priced. Really, a 3.5.

Amazing list, chill environment, did I mention amazing list? Between whiskey/bourbon and cocktails, they’ve got the market covered. Wine list was eh, but I’m a snob about wine. Beer list seemed good, but I didnt order any. The ONLY bad thing I can say is the entrance on the corner is to the bottle shop, and the girl with the black curly hair was incredibly rude, to which I almost walked out. I didn’t see the other side of the shop, so I sat down and asked her for a list, to which she said something snarky asking«why I wanted to sit here». Seemed as tho she was annoyed by someone’s presence. Andrew, I believe, the other bartender made up for it.

In town for a conference and had some time to kill so stopped in for a glass of wine. I ended up arriving right at the end of happy hour, ordered at the bar and was able to snag a seat outside in the sunshine. Great outdoor space and a low-key vibe, but the staff at bar was rather unfriendly and seemed irritated with myself and everyone else attempting to order or check out at the bar. Not sure if it was just because it was happy hour, or was what going on, but it would have been much more comfortable if the staff was friendlier. The wine, herb popcorn, house-made pickled beets, fennel and cucumbers were a really nice snack, only $ 11 on happy hour, so a steal too. Also annoying that they allow smoking in the back patio, it would be so much nicer if it were smoke free!

Laid back fancy spot that is decently popular with the cool kids, this place is a neighborhood spot for me. The beer is expensive but indulgent. The food menu is a little on the small side, but they do a late night HH and there is always some sort of food specials(although by late night usually sold out). I particularly like the bacon dates and the burger is pretty rocking. I always leave this place satisfied, but feeling like I overspent. I probably won’t be returning that often if I move from the neighborhood. I haven’t purchased anything from the bottle shop, but my friends do and they have always seemed happy about it.

This might be my favorite place in this neighborhood. This is both the place we go to just to get drinks and snacks with friends and to go out for a nice dinner. They always have an amazing list of beer on tap, and their food is incredible. They have lots of delicious little snacks(try to rotating daily popcorn, deviled eggs and the oh-so-delicious bacon wrapped dates). I also really appreciate that in addition to the standard fare like burgers and sandwiches they have some really excellent salads. I’m pretty often disappointed at other restaurants when I’m in the mood to go healthier and get a salad– but not here. And brunch– they might have the best corned beef hash in Portland(corned beef is made in house… but unfortunately they don’t always have it on the menu…).

This place rules, not just Portland, but the cosmos. One issue: if you call it a ‘bowl of soup,’ fill up the bowl! What’s with this half stuff? Do you sell hamburgers that aren’t made of ham? I mean, really people, come on. I still haven’t ordered the vines, but I imagine they’re tender and delicious.

Wow what a great little place! Stopped by Hope and Vine to grab some dinner to go after my pedicure next door at Blooming Moon. I had a lovely whiskey on the rocks while I waited. When I got home I ate my burger and it was so amazing, so yummy! I want one for dinner tomorrow night too!

Love this place for happy hour and cocktails. Burger is great too. Brunch very disappointing. Food was okay but service was completely inattentive. No salt and pepper on the table, and they never even came around to see if we needed anything so we went without. And we were one of 2 tables seated. With 2 servers. Had to walk up to get the check and it included an item I ordered and never got. But I never saw them while eating to tell them that.

Five big ol’ stars for a super cool little place. I hung out here for, well, hours(!) and totally lost track of the time because it was just the perfect atmosphere, not to mention great beer, tasty small plates, and super chill service. The space is divided in half; the right side is a swanky bar area with the lights down low and small tables; you know, ambiance. The right side is more brightly lit and has cozy furniture and tables and a small bar with a few taps, wines, and a small wine/beer store. I camped out in the bright spot to nerd out on my laptop and glance at a tv with the sports happening on it. The beers on tap were higher-end sippin’ beers in small, affordable glasses; I really dug the We Mint Well, a sweet-ish and smooth wee heavy that had a 10 a.b.v. I also tried a few things off the menu, which had lots of small plate-type things. The chanterelle crepes were tasty and not too rich, and the little bowl of herbed popcorn was great, but the real star were the green olives – amazing buttery flavor and texture. I had two servings. Mm, mm, mm. The server was great – nice, attentive and quick, but very laid back and easy going, which leant to the overall feel that this is a place where you can just relax and savor the time. Lots of friendly folks passed through to buy bottles of this-n-that, and one of the women who works there had the cutest dog probably ever born. The bar side was lively and fun whenever I passed through. If I lived in this here Portland, I’d definitely make this spot a habit. Hearts!

So there was only a handful of people hanging out here and the two waiters behind that bar completely ignored me for about 10 minutes. They were chatting up there friend standing next to me… I hope the next time my experience will be better because the food was good!

The Hop & Vine is a fantastic place and I am so happy it is walking distance from my house. I thought it was about time for me to write up a review for this place as I have been here a bunch of times for happy hour and now breakfast. If you are not familiar with The Hop & Vine they are a bar which also has a bottle shop attached. This is a great addition as it allows for snagging an extra treat for enjoyment once getting home. The happy hour here is great because they have all sorts of small snacks to sample while grabbing some beverages. My favorite two things so far have been the Steve’s Cheese & House Charcuterie Board and the daily flavored popcorn. Vegetarians beware… the cheese plate comes with meat«charcuterie». I was enjoying happy hour with a meat eater so this ended up working out just fine. I believe I even asked if they could make a point to have the mean situated away from the other tasty things on the board. I’m a HUGE popcorn fan, so being able to get a bowl of flavored popcorn for a dollar is a dream come true. I sometimes have dreams about the dill flavored popcorn I had one time. I have even tried to recreate it at home without much luck. Last weekend my husband and I walked over to try out their brunch fare. When I looked over the menu I was a little disappointed because there only seemed to be one vegetarian option that was not something sweet,(I don’t do sweet breakfast). Before packing up to go somewhere else I decided to ask if there was anything they could suggest for me to try. To my surprise they were able to make two of the items veggie friendly. After hearing that they could make the Huevos Rancheros without the meat I about jumped for joy. My husband and I both ordered the Huevos; his with meat and mine sans. Both of us were super happy with our meals. The free flowing coffee made for a perfect Sunday brunch experience! The other thing to mention about The Hop & Vine is the fact that they have a pretty stellar patio out back. There are tons of tables, some suitable for large parties. The patio is decorated nicely with various plants, huge trees, and some lights strung all over. It almost gives me the feeling of not being in the city. I’m sure many more happy hours will be had here. Next on my list to try at The Hop & Vine is dinner!

Total meh experience. It wasn’t busy when I went in and ordered an IPA and a soda. Apparently they had no IPA on tap since they were having a special event, but I was invited to walk next door to get an IPA in a bottle(service is off to a great start)! When I went next door my $ 5IPA became $ 7.50 with the«corkage» fee. Are you kidding? I walk my ass next door to get my own beer and I get an added fee? Anywho, typical lame bar where I need to order at the counter and there are no menus on table so I need to go stand awkwardly by the front entrance and stare at a chalkboard to figure out what I am having. Meanwhile on the patio it was pretty smoky because they allow cigarette smoking — ugh. Also they cook meat out there which has a strong smell. Very limited food options and even more limited vegetarian fare. I settled on a grilled cheese — decent and a tomato soup — blah flavor. This place is really close to my house but is not at all recommended for any reason.

Best burger in town. Great patio. Bar, restaurant, and bottle shop. Nice little wine selection. It’s not mentioned in all the reviews but they gave a full bar as well with daily cocktail specials.

The«H.V.» exudes Portland cuisine-culture. Nestled in NoPo(home to the notorious Ndamukong«stomp QBs» Suh), alongside family homes, sits the Hop & Vine off the beaten tourist-track. There you’ll find a weekly changing menu, full of innovation and complex tastes and ideas; to my knowledge, only the grilled cheese is staple. It’s quaint – and dare I say«hip” – dining area is commingled with the over-sized bar(as all Portland bars should be). Revolving taps and creative cocktails draw numerous neighborhood(and non-neighborhood) regulars. To complement the restaurant and bar, the H.V. has an adjacent wine store and bar. Five stars to an excellent staff, who taught me how to make and use Mirepoix(yes, it’s very easy – but only for someone who can cook).

Tried this spot before we hit the airport back to Cali. Great atmosphere, delicious drinks. I would recommend the pulled pork sandwich. The sweet, tangy apple slaw compliments the deep smoke flavor of the pork. The house burger was delish, I would suggest a side of their aioli if you like your burger with spread. Grilled artichoke was a light starter with great flavor. If you like Rosemary or citrus the Sweet & Savory cocktail hits the mark. It’s on the happy hour menu which makes it doubly delicious! Board games, loungey music and hipster magic make this a great spot.
