Ok, These folks do not listen to what their order takers say when you place a to– go order. When I picked up the order and brought it home, they botched three things. I requested and paid for brown rice(they gave me white), put green peppers in my food, that I asked them to leave out,(since I am allergic to them), and did not put in the extra sweet and sour sauce that we asked for and presumably paid for. I called, informed them of the mistake, and they said please come right back, they would have a new curry sans green peppers, brown rice, and the missing sauce waiting. I had to wait another 20 minutes, which delayed my houseguest from returning back to Seattle. They did not apologize and were rather flippant when I returned. I have been coming here on and off for 10 years. I live close to the main village and depend on some of these local estabs to feed me when I am short on time. I do not think I will go back! You would think that if a restaurant botched this many things, that they would at least offer a free dessert as a peace offering for their lack of listening and relaying an order to their cooks. Additionally, while waiting for my food, they seemed to have burned some oil in the kitchen, which rendered the air in the place very smoky and unpleasant.

I’ve been here many times and my take is that it’s completely hit or miss. Some days the food is excellent, and other days it’s completely uninspiring. This lack of consistency is frustrating, to say the least. As the Village’s main thai restaurant, I’m sure I’ll be back. I just hope they introduce a bit more consistency in the kitchen so I know what I’m getting every time I stop in.

Service: Not very good. Service is a team approach. No effort is made to know who has what item or other special requests. We waited a long time to be given menus. After that, service speed picked up but we were given the wrong soup and the staff was very slow to respond and then was reluctant to do so even though we ordered clearly. Food: Tom Kha– tasty but not filled with vegetables and a bit more sour than I’ve had other places. Fish Cakes: yick! Thai fish cakes are supposed to be made with white fish like tilapia or flounder. These were made with salmon so the salmon totally overpowered the delicate sauce. Larb– AWFUL, really terrible. I don’t know if this was meant to be the Laotian version or the Thai version but either way, it tasted like ground beef covered in gritty dirt. It had no distinguishing flavor and a terrible texture. We brought this to the attention of the server. They did nothing. We had one other item which we liked but I can’t remember the name. It was a flour tortilla like item that was deep friend and filled. The filling was bland but fine. It was served with a sweet pineapple sauce. I’ve spent substantial time in Thailand, I am a chef and I love southeast Asian food.(I know this isn’t a well written review but take my word for it. Don’t bother. There are a million better ethnic restaurants in Portland. We spent $ 45.00 for two people and felt utterly ripped off.

Went here for lunch for the first time. It hit the spot! Service was nice. I ordered just a salad roll and a cup or soup. It was just what I needed. I liked the ambiance too. I will be back

I recommend it. Staff was good and attentive. The guy in charge sang songs at the top of his lungs in the kitchen, and that was fun. Food was great, and the best Thai I’ve had in Portland so far. Restaurant décor appears to be totally… German? With cuckoo clocks and things like that. Weird, and that’s OK. Seems to be a popular take-out joint. Bathroom was not overly clean and I think the paper towels were several feet away from the sink if I remember correctly. But not too bad. I’ll be back.

We have lived in the neighborhood for years and my husband and I eat here very frequently, the food is consistently great, The staff are friendly and we feel lucky to have this restaurant so close!

The pad kee Mao was very tasty! With shrimp even better, and the prices are super affordable! This will be my go to for Thai when I’m in the area. It comes with a soup and roll all for 8 bucks

My neighborhood thai place always gets my to-go order ready in 15 – 20 minutes. #80BBQ Cornish hen is my favorite at the moment. Very friendly and chipper service and lots of good specials on the chalkboard inside.

Fast, friendly service and good food at a decent price. We got the massaman curry with beef and red curry with chicken. Strong coconut milk flavor for both but I wish the red was more spicy ;) Went during a weekday and it wasn’t super crowded. Enjoyed a nice, chill lunch with a homey feel — probz because the restaurant is a converted house.

Great local Thai restaurant! Very quick and friendly. Food was a little bland overall but still good enough to go back again and again.

8:50 pm, walked in to this place for the first time, new the the neighborhood, and we were told«to go only» hmmmm, I’m confused your hours say open til 9:30, why on earth would you turn us down when you still have the kitchen open and people who have not been served yet? If that we’re my employee turning business away 40 minutes before I closed I would fire them! Maybe your website should say«closed at 8:30», or «whenever we don’t feel like serving» thanks for the experience, I doubt we will be back based on employee morale & behavior! Good luck!

We have lived in the village for 5 years and have never gone to Thai Herbs because we have heard some mixed reviews. I finally decided that we should try it, but we probably won’t go there again. Love supporting local businesses but the food is not that notable… Vegetables were obviously frozen, not fresh. Overall not very impressed and probably won’t visit again. However, I did have a very friendly host/server that helped me and had a warm welcoming smile and was very friendly. If I had to recommend a restaraunt, I would not recommend this one.

I am long overdue on this update! We have not tried eating in again, but we have gotten takeout near a dozen times since my last review. The wait time is usually only 15 – 40 minutes. A huge improvement over the first few times we got takeout. The food is always consistent, and very good. The fresh herbs, high quality vegetables, proteins, grains, and noodles really shine. On top of using excellent ingredients, the dishes are skillfully cooked to near perfection. Thai Herbs is one of our favorite places for takeout.

I really like Thai Herbs. I think that the value is just OK for the $, but the quality is always good! I recommend their mango stir fry dish. :)

I like this spot. Its near my house and has a cute South Pacific Island hut kind of vibe to it with an awesome outdoor patio for nice days. The prices are good and their red curry, pad thai and fried rice are all delicious and veggie abundant.

Overpriced for portion size and lack of authenticity. Service was good and prompt. Then again, the place was completely empty. Got the shrimp appetizer, and it was good but pedestrian, not very Thai. Bottled sweet chili sauce. Entrees ordered were the Pineapple Fried rice and beef Pad See Eew. Rice was sticky, but it’s supposed to be somewhat loose. PSE had broccoli, not gai lan, and lacked the smoky earthy flavour authentic Thai places in LA Hollywood have. This place is the only Thai spot in the area. But if you want better Thai, I’d suggest the e-San food cart($ 6 for nearly everything)

I stopped by for take out on the way home from work to treat my self. The staff was very friendly, curtious and professional. The food was really good as usual, although a bit pricey. Fresh, full flavor, light and clean tasting. However as I was waiting for my order to be prepared, I threw back a 2x Jamison, and at the bottom of my drink I noticed not one but 2 insects chillin out… uh cover your bottles at closing time, or clean your cocktail glasses people. No refund was offered either. For this off experience I will give this establishment 2 stars this time around.

My Son took me here for Lunch after our parent-teacher conference. Of course I paid and we were specifically looking for a place with good soup to help his cold along. Any attempts by me to steer him somewhere else within the greater Multnomah Village area fell on deaf ears. When in Portland, I’ve come to expect a little funk in my ethnic or other cuisine. Thai Herbs is located in a converted house, and has kind of a retro western vibe. We sat inside in what was probably an old bedroom, but with living room and outdoor options available. The food was certainly delicious and relatively cheap off the lunch menu. I had Pad Thai with Chicken and the Kid had one of the moderately spicy soups(with chicken). There was more than enough food here, of which I gobbled up the Pad Thai(with my Son’s help) and took a container of soup to go. I left pleased with our experience and my Son’s good taste.

OHMYGAWD! I must totally use my powers to counteract the whiners! These are so the droids you’re looking for! I’ve been grabbing lunch here for three years! Always grab and go! Never sit down! I came in tonight to enjoy a bite before my kickboxing class! I ordered my current fave of paneng curry with pork! As I waited the ridiculously short 10 minutes for my piping hot delicious meal, I perused past reviews! Haters gonna hate! Makes me ashamed to tell people I’m a Unilocaler! So ashamed! They have consistently the nicest people serving you! The interior atmosphere is calm and eclectic! I love the décor! The patio is cute and inviting! Word is your K9s can sit with you! The food is so good! So fresh! You can hear them working hard in the kitchen to get you your meal fast! I feel truly appreciated as a customer! I love that! I had the most relaxing time eating here tonight!

The food is very good and we had no trouble getting served promptly. I love the patio outside which is dog friendly, it’s such a nice meal in a nice town :)
