Was happy that this place was open on Christmas. Red curry was super spicy, just how I like it! Wish they gave you more rice though. This place isn’t really close to my home, but if I’m ever in the area again, I’ll give them another try.

I’ve been looking for a great Thai place for years and thus place is less then a mule from where I live now. Everything we had was great. I can’t remember what we got but they delivered which rocked. Everything was fresh, flavorful and not grease. On the down side, when you order rice noodles togo they stick to each other horrible, because they send it all deconstructed. but its also nice because if they stuck the sauces on the noodles it would have all soaked in to the noodles and gotten soggy. Next time I want Thai I’ll just have to go up the road and eat at the restaurant.

I ordered delivery from City Thai through GrubHub. I was given an estimate of 1 – 2 hours, which was understandable given that the weather was crappy. After 2.5 hours I contacted GrubHub to find out where my food was. If the restaurant needed to cancel because of weather or some other reason, that is one thing, but I heard nothing from them. GrubHub reached out to the restaurant who said they were starting my order and promised it would be delivered in 25 – 30ADDITIONAL minutes. The restaurant had confirmed this, and I was told they were offering the delivery service directly. OK, fine, at least I will get to eat dinner, and at this point it’s too late to order delivery or pickup anywhere else. At 3.5 hours, I contacted them again and subsequently received an email saying the order was cancelled because it was after 9:00, and the restaurant was closed. I realize the GrubHub shares the blame here, but this is abysmal customer service from City Thai. It is honestly inexcusable. It is one thing to need to cancel an order because of weather, or driver issues, etc, but to provide(sparse) updates confirming that the order will be delivered and then simply close is un-freaking-believable. There are plenty of other decent Thai places in Portland, please don’t waste your time with this one.

I’ve gotten City Thai’s food delivered to me at work 4 times now through Grub hub… and every time it has been a 5 star experience. The food comes much quicker then they tell you it will, and they package every thing so that it doesn’t get soggy on the ride over. They leave the boxes cracked just the tiniest amount to where the food stays warm, but like I said it doesn’t get soggy. My favorite things so far from this place is the Chicken Potstickers, The Orange Chicken(best I have ever had hands down from anywhere), and the Shrimp Pad Thai. It’s my new favorite place for lunch delivery at work :)

Just no. If you like real food that has substantial flavor, don’t waste your money. Two stars because the people were friendly and the space was very clean.

My wife and I went for dinner the other night as we’ve always seen it since we live in the neighborhood. I got the Khao Soi which was AMAZING. I ordered it hot and the waitress was cracking me up asking me if it was too hot every couple of minutes. It was… but that was my fault for being too macho. I always do that, but I’d rather it be really hot than not hot enough. Beers were reasonably priced; Ninkasi IPA for $ 4 and I really liked the atmosphere. Also, you can order delivery on Unilocal which is pretty awesome. I’ll definitely be returning.

Really love it. You can order delivery on Unilocal which is rad and not only that, everything we’ve had here is really good. Not to mention the delivery driver is simply fantastic. Thumbs up all around, and definitely being a return customer.

Let it be known, that we ordered delivery, so the quality may differ from that of eating the food fresh in the restaurant. Overall, the food was good, but nothing spectacular, and I’ve had better Thai at other establishments(Try Thai Village in McMinnville, OR). Unless my wife and I are too lazy to go out to eat and just want a delivery option that’s not pizza, we probably won’t be seeking out City of Thai too often. The pad thai was a bit dry, and so were the orders of simple white rice. Apart from food quality, service was friendly. Delivery happened in the estimated time frame, and the delivery guy was very nice. Even though I did give only a 3 star rating, I may need to try this place by actually eating in the restaurant. I may have a better experience.

I’ve ordered take out from this place a couple times since I live down the street. My recent order was yellow curry with chicken, red curry with pork, and crab & cream cheese wontons. I didn’t receive sauce for my wontons, which makes me sad. Without it, the doughy cheesiness gets old real fast. Also, what’s with not getting soup togo of you get a lunch special for take-out? It seems like a theme among Portland restaurant, which is lame. I want my soup! Yellow curry consisted mostly of huge pieces of underdone onion, potato and carrots with tons of sauce with very little chicken. Decent flavor overall, but the minimal protein wan disappointing. This place isn’t offensive, but it isn’t awe inspiring; probably what you might expect.

I love this place. Honestly my mom and I order from here maybe twice a month because I am obsessed with their pad Thai and she loves the sizzling spinach. The crab and cream cheese wontons are also amazing. We’ve been in once and it wasn’t bad but I’ve ordered for pickup maybe six times in the past couple months and other than it being a little cold once the food is always great.

I tried this place on GrubHub & got addicted. I’m obsessed with their coconut ice cream. They deliver to my house in like 20 mins. I’ve been ordering once a week.

pretty standard Thai restaurant. The staff is very nice. It is close so we get take out and it is almost only 15−20min to get out food. We have eaten almost the whole menu and nothing sticks out as either«to die for» nor horrible.

This place is super convenient for me because it’s literally my next door neighbor! It’s your typical Thai place and the food tastes pretty great and authentic. Their pad thai is my fave here. So if you live near the area, I recommend this place as your«go-to» Thai restaurant

This review is based on a single take out order consisting of veggie rolls, Tom kha tofu soup and cashew veggie curry. Everything was cloyingly sweet to my taste and therefore lacked the wonderful balance of flavors that typifies strong Thai food. Still, everything was fresh and clean. But the sugar levels ought to keep any diabetics you know far from these doors. The place came nicely recommended and is close to home, so I will probably give them a second chance.

This place is just alright. Having moved from Seattle where amazing Thai food is plentiful, we are struggling to find anything even close to comparable here. The service here is friendly and the food is good and close to home.

Great service! Sweet people! This review is for Pad Thai specifically. Went there for lunch. Enjoyed some salad rolls. Everything fresh and tasty! Service was perfect! Pad Thai tasted like it had ketchup in the sauce. I’ve experienced this before; some Thai restaurants use ketchup. I hate ketchup, therefore, I probably won’t order this again here. Also no fresh lime, no crushed peanuts, no cilantro. Bean sprouts were cooked in the dish.

Thai food in a cute mid-century building. I’m into it. We had the Pad See We noodles with tofu and the Spicy Basil stir fry with chicken — both were tasty. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly as well. If you’re looking for a decent Thai place in Hillsdale, this place is pretty cool.

YUM!!! I order Delivered Dish pretty much every day and I LOVECITYTHAI! I always order the same items: chicken pot stickers, golden calamari, and pad see ew. The pot stickers are some of the best I’ve ever had: crispy but not greasy and served with a dipping sauce that’s perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The filling is soft and moist and obviously made with fresh vegetables(you can taste it). The golden calamari is to die for! But only if you dip it in the accompanying sweet & sour sauce(not artificially colored red, I might add — — a welcome change). It’s actual calamari(squid) steaks, not just tentacles, and the pieces of calamari steak are big! You end up tasting the delicious calamari itself rather than just a big ball of greasy fried dough(which is typically what you usually get when you order fried calamari pretty much anywhere). The dipping sauce is the perfect balance of sweet & sour without artificial coloring or flavoring, and once you’ve tried City Thai’s sweet & sour sauce, you’ll always compare others to it and others won’t measure up. Finally, THEPADSEEEW(literally translated means«stir fry with soy sauce»! My new favorite obsession! Huge, soft, wide rice noodles tossed together with the PERFECT blend of soy sauces for a deliciously complex flavor. The noodles are soft but at all not mushy, and are all equally covered in the out-of-this-world-but-still-MSG-free-sauce. The sauce gets absorbed but that just makes the noodles softer and juicier. The protein(chk, beef, pork, or tofu) are cooked moist and flavorful without being over-seasoned or tough. And the Chinese broccoli(gai-lan) is sautéed just right to not be mushy at all. Overall, I’m ADDICTED to their pad see ew and have tried a dozen different recipes at home in an effort to mimic the flavor, but have yet to succeed. I call Delivered Dish almost daily and City Thai never disappoints. FIVEBIGSTARSFORCITYTHAI!

*My review is in regards to their lunch menu. They’ve got a pretty good lunch menu ranging from curries to noodle dishes, which are all priced at $ 7(includes soup and a fried roll). I had the chicken pad thai and it was very tasty and filling!
