Emmy did a great job giving me a growing-​it-​out cut! She made great suggestions and wasn’t overly chatty which I prefer. Very cute space with great vintage clothes and shoes! I will definitely be back!

Phoenix is amazing! Actually, everyone is super talented and friendly here. The prices are reasonable and there is absolutely no pretension. Bonus: you can always find some fun vintage treasure while you are waiting to be seated. I am always offered a beer upon arrival and everyone knows my name… kinda feel like Norm from Cheers and that’s just fine by me:)

Made an appointment with Sara last week for a hair cut and was thrilled with the results! Though I had never been to Teal Flamingo or met Sara before, I felt very comfortable in the space and loved the conversation, akin to visiting with an old friend.
I absolutely love my haircut! Sara did an amazing job framing my face perfectly and thinning out my thick, frizzy mane. Sara was very thorough, and discussed the options for thinning out my hair so that it would not get puffy near the scalp. The scalp massage was remarkably delightful during the washing and conditioning as well.
I enjoyed exploring the vintage goodies before and after my appointment and definitely found a couple items that I had to have. I love the overall vibe of this place, and was pleased that it is also queer-​friendly. I will definitely be back!

I love going to Teal Flamingo to get my hair done! Everyone who works there is super talented and I always have a great time when I’m there. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a salon atmosphere like this, it’s so welcoming and fun. I make the trek from Milwaukie just to go to this salon. It’s worth it!

Love, love LOVE this shop!!! Every time I go I leave with the perfect cut and color and new (recycled) outfit to complete the look! The gals there have a great eye for funky fashion and one of a kind finds. The staff is friendly, the space is clean and we’ll organized. The sell/​trade option is so great for when I’m sick of everything in my closet and their prices are SO affordable! Thanks for helping me stay fashionable on a dime Teal Flamingo!

This is a great place to shop for vintage finds or get a great hairstyle! Sara Chest and Phoenix Rath are amazing stylists with a great depth of knowledge and an eye for what works. Sarah is my regular stylist. I always leave with a bounce in step and my cut grows out so nicely, that I have no bad hair days waiting to get in for an appointment. Phoenix just did my daughter’s hair for her wedding. I cannot begin to tell you what a beautiful job she did. And fast! Everyone at the shop is friendly and are genuinely pleased to see you.

Love my haircut! Sarah cut my hair with the care and skill of a seasoned person who cuts and styles hair. The atmosphere is chill, they served me wine, they had a dog, and the cut was underpriced (so I tipped, but you don’t have to, but it’s nice when you do, because she deserves it!) All in all, a great spot with highly skilled stylists offering affordable cuts. Go there!

I was able to get a same day appointment with Cali (Calista). She did an amazing job cutting and coloring my hair. She asked all the right questions up front and also suggested a color that turned out perfect on my hair — it covered the gray and blended in with my multiple old box colors. The staff here is very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It is also a vintage store, so while you are waiting for the color to set you can walk around and shop. It is a very relaxed, community atmosphere. I would go back!

My usual stylist is booked a month in advance and I wound up needing my roots done sooner than I expected. My sister likes Phoenix at Teal Flamingo so I set up an appointment.
Phoenix is friendly, interesting, and has a ridiculously good memory (she knew a lot about me already from my sister). Best of all, she asked good questions about how I like my hair and bangs rather than just diving in there. *cough*BISHOPS*cough*
Honestly, the best bang trim I’ve had in Portland. I’m really happy with the shape of my bangs and will probably pop in again in a couple weeks to have it trimmed again.

Review of the vintage shop only — though based on my great experiences there, I’d love to give the salon a try as well!
Owner Sara makes great use of a tiny space with an organized, well-​curated selection of vintage clothing and a few décor items/​housewares. Oh, great jewelry, too — some new pieces there as well, I think. At times I’ve stopped in weekly, and I’ve always walked away with a little something (or 3) that I hadn’t seen before.
I finally got around to bringing in some items for trade, and was very pleased with the cash or store credit I was offered. Naturally I took the credit, because who am I kidding? I’ll spend it here in no time.

After calling to confirm that they did kids’ cuts, I took our 4-​year-​old daughter there. So happy with the results! Not only was the cut fantastic, but Maddie was awesome. She really took her time to understand what we wanted, and took her time again to get the cut just right. Our daughter usually squirms and fusses during haircuts, but not this time. It wasn’t cheap — 28 bucks — but worth it, IMO. We’ll definitely be back.
UPDATE, FEB. 1
We were back! This time with our 21-​month-​old boy. Another great haircut. Bonus: They now have a «kids cut» price, at $ 20.

I tried Sara at Teal Flamingo and am super happy with my hair. She is a total expert with hair and is comfortable making suggestions or taking your cues on how you want your hair done. Mine was the first, I wanted a change with cut and color. I had it cut 4 or 5 inches and she triple checked that I wanted it. I love it. I know where I’ll go for my next haircut. I also got highlights which she recommended toning.
Her salon is in a cute funky resale clothing shop. I loved the atmosphere of the store and Sara’s high energy are contagious!!!

I love Teal Flamingo for how easy it is to schedule with them. They use an online program to schedule appointments, which can send you reminders. I don’t have to try to call during business hours. Parking is available and the associated vintage shop is lovely with great prices. Sara is amazing. She cut and dyed my hair for my wedding and couldn’t have done a better job. I feel confident in her and trust her experience and judgement.

I’ve been wandering for quite awhile; My wanderings have lead me to some great finds; Teal Flamingo is one of these great finds. Not only is it a rad used, vintage and locally crafted accoutrements clothing shop, but the Proprietress Sara, is a rad hair stylist with a lot of sass and a very nice singing voice. I was able to trade in some clothes for an amazing (and much overdue) hair cut and styling. Sara listened to exactly what I asked and I could not be more pleased. I have found my clothes and hair nirvana! Go see her and buy something OK?

Hidden surprise in my neighborhood. Went for coffee today and found this great shop. Was able to sell some old clothes for a haircut and have credit towards next time. Great for my budget and glad they have new and vintage clothes for everyone and ALL sizes, not just skinny hipsters. Good music and cute girls working. I think next time I won’t wait a year for a haircut. Free beer and way better than Bishops!

Super excited that this shop joined the Hollywood neighborhood. I’ve never seen a salon with a clothing store in it. I was able to skip waiting in line at Buffalo Exchange to sell my clothes, and got a fair price and trade for my items. They didn’t make me feel like my clothes were bad or out of style either.
I’ve been going to Sara for about 4 years now and am so excited she has this new space with great energy. Her prices are amazing for how good her work is. I’m so glad I don’t have to drive around forever looking for somewhere to park either. Great location for shopping. Tell your friends and stop by to check it out!!!
