Great place for all things candy and ice cream. Fantastic customer service, huge portions at cheap prices. A true candy store. Cheaper than any others and higher quality.

Sweets has a wide assortment of candy. They have rows of jelly beans, some sodas, old candies and displays of truffles, fudges and Umpqua Ice Cream.
The store is fairly small, but stocked at high capacity. They have high quality chocolate, albeit in small squares, for less than a dollar. They package their jelly beans and gums into all kinds of sizes, fitting all kinds of appetites and price points.
In the end, I had Umpua Ice Cream and the soda Jelly Beans. This all came to $ 6, a low price for both combined and it was fairly satisfying.
Sweets Etc is a joyous experience.

Seven people, including two teenagers, walk in to a candy /​ice cream store on a very warm summer evening. They are all turned away. Why? Because it was 8pm. And dude closes. Right at 8. Not 5 minutes later. 8. 8pm. In the summer.
That’s cool. I can understand your desire to not make extra cash. Your loss was the gain of the frozen yogurt place across the street. The one star isn’t for the quality of your product. It’s for your lack of business sense. Rock on. Nectar FTW.

This place is high end. If you would like to buy a special gift for that chocolate lover or foodie in your life then stop here for fudge or specialty candies. But don’t be stupid and bring a child her unless you’ve got 16 bucks to spend on a small bag of treats. A chocolate covered pretzel could cost you 4 bucks. I treat myself here occasionally and it’s kind if cool that this place was in the movie «Rid of Me» but I wouldn’t make it a regular stop if you are on a budget.

I’m absolutely fascinated by the amount of obscure licorice this store carries! OMFG! In absolute awe!!! I have to come back because I really did not pay attention to anything else but the licorice.

So friendly and so delicious. My date took me here because I love black licorice and I found it amazing. So many varieties I never knew about. I literally learned a ton! The guy who helped me even said he hated black licorice but he knew everything about it. He gave me a ton of free samples without me ever daring to ask and he was very patient and friendly.
I have never gotten this good of service in a candy shop and rarely elsewhere. I will most definitely be coming back to try their fudges and other homemade treats, not to mention licorice ice cream! I can’t wait!!!

A candy shop within walking distance is a good thing. Sweets Etc. is a good thing. Good thing. This shop has a large selection of unique candies, but I’d love to have a bit of money to get something new. They have everything you’d want from the ol’ standbys (stuff like Cadbury) to fancy expensive imported chocolate bars. There’s even a wall of licorices if that’s your thing. Sweets Etc. also has bulk candy, as well as their own chocolates. Truffles, man. Truffles. Also: Umpqua ice cream, which makes Sweets Etc a must-​stop during the summer.

I work in Multnomah Village… which makes my proximity to Sweets Etc DANGEROUS. What a great selection! Lot’s of options by the pound, fudge, ice cream, traditional/​classic candies… and most importantly British candy!!! I heart Smarties!!! The prices are really reasonable, making it impossible to stop by without getting yourself something sweet. I am also a huge fan of the gummy butterflies. The staff is super friendly and if you are lucky you may get a free sample!

So sick of waiting at places! Worth the wait is only true if you are waiting around for a reason this breaks down to non-​sense portland has shitty customer service and they hire these privileged white girls who don’t give a shit about the company. Seriously waiting arond so she can scoop stuff around is b ullshit, she didn;t ask us to wait we just had to.

What a delightful store. It’s lovely to behold the amazing candy selection, and the jars behind the counter are such a treat. But honestly, their candy tastes even better than it looks. Really fantastic selection of deliciousness, including lots of great imports and hard to find candies. There’s ice cream in the back, too. The staff are joyful and friendly, just as you’d hope. You won’t be disappointed, although you may find yourself spending more money than you expected, because there is SO MUCH to choose.

This is a sweet shop that can’t be beat for selection and, pun intended, eye candy!
I could have spent hours in here looking at every little thing. There’s a huge Easter display right now of eggs and bunnies and chicks of every conceivable candy, color, and size. They have imported candy, licorice, chocolates, vintage candy, old-​fashioned candy, upscale candy, joke candy. You name it, they probably have it.
The guy behind the counter reminds me of a druggist dispensing prescriptions for various ailments. Prices aren’t cheap but then this isn’t something you’re buying out of necessity, you’re buying it for the fun of it. So take your time, look at everything, and enjoy the experience!

I love this place! Samples on the counter, fun candy on the walls, and staff who don’t mind at all if you are just browsing. They have several flavors of ice cream I love, and can’t find elsewhere. Licorice ice cream is my favorite. I’ve even been to some fun Friday events here.
Do not expect super low prices though. Be mindful of your order if you need to be mindful of your wallet (and most everyone does these days!). Your order can quickly get pricey if you don’t pay attention to cost. This is a store to go for an experience, holiday shopping, or a special gift, not for a bargain or a big candy stock up for your pantry.

Ice cream and candy. Oh, hell yes.
The ice cream is Umpqua, local and tasty. The cotton candy flavor was pretty good. I didn’t see any waffle cones, but when I order «a scoop» and get TWO scoops on a sugar cone for three whole dollars I’ll let little things like that slide. Although waffle cones are really really good.
The candy selection is pretty good. They even have some limey candy if you know someone with bad teeth that’s jonesing.

This may be one of the last remaining old-​fashioned retailers of tooth decay in the city. Adorable shop, with a case of homemade chocolates, truffles, fudge, peanut butter cups, sea foam (I thought you could only get that at the coast!), pralines, and whatnot. In addition to that large case, they have most of the British candy bars (Flake Bar, oh hello, Cadbury products), a wall o’ licorice, and lots of fun little treats.
All that candy plus an ice cream counter (Umpqua brand), it’s a kiddo’s or a sweets-addict’s dream. Thank God I am neither of those things. Just being in a room with all that sugar gave me the shakes a little bit. Nice store, friendly service, rounds out the block nicely.

Every once in a while you find customer service that goes above and beyond the norm. I found that this Easter season at Sweets etc. in the dulcet form of Jess, who works the counter on weekdays.
I had been searching frantically for a sugar free chocolate bunny. Now, if any of you out there have diabetic friends or family, you know that the availability of sugar free baked goods and candies is limited at best. And I wanted a solid chocolate bunny and couldn’t find one anywhere.
Jess couldn’t have been nicer — she saw my sadness at not being able to find anything and was game to try working with the sugar free chocolate. They didn’t have any bunny molds, but they did have a moose. I got a call less than a week later telling me my order was ready.
When I got to the store to pick it up (thank goodness they stay open a bit later in the evenings — I’m still baffled that shopkeepers don’t get that we all work day jobs and just can’t get in the door before 6pm — She dolled it up with a cute bow and exceptional packaging, found the sugar free jelly bellies and the sugar free gummy bears for me and now I’m good to go.
I can’t wait to see my boy’s face on Easter morning when he sees a massive chocolate confection in his easter basket. When you’ve been diabetic since age five, you don’t get a lot of special treats on the holidays. Halloween is a nightmare of denial, sugar free cookies at Christmas never have the right kind of icing, and easter has been, well… lackluster. Eating eggs on easter is all well and good, but how can you really enjoy it without the sincere pleasure of nibbling on solid chocolate bunny ears? Or in this case, moose ears?
Thanks Jess, for going the extra mile and bringing a little bit of joy into our Easter celebrations.

Is this the only candy store in Portland??? I think it might be. (And don’t say Moonstruck… that isn’t candy.)
In any case, it’s certainly nice enough, but to me, it’s barely a selection. There’s a lot of licorice, some ice cream, nice chocolates, but if you’re not in the mood for some rare thing from some foreign country you can’t pronounce, you’re kinda out of luck. Not to mention that a great deal of things on the shelves are just straight up plain milk chocolate. Sure the little ladybug and car wrappers are cute, but couldn’t you clear that out to put in something a little more, I dunno… different?
I only really come back for a few things: The huckleberry cheesecake ice cream (why is this not available anywhere else?), the licorice ice cream (watch out, your lips, teeth, and tongue will be an intensely dark forest green for quite some time), and the black licorice strawberries.
If you want a bunch of a few types of candy, go for it, other than that, I guess we’ll just have to wait for a bigger, less ‘fancy’ candy store to come in.

Walking in to Sweets Etc. was like stepping back in to my childhood! It reminded me so much of the sweet shop I used to visit on Sundays after I was a good little girl at Hebrew school back in Ashland.
There are rows and rows of sweets, candies, gummies, and chews along the wall as well as cases of locally made truffles and turtle clusters. I bought a couple of walnut turtles and they’ve also got peanut and almond varieties as well. It was a lot of work to walk out of there without buying one of each chocolate in the case!
Oh, also, they’ve also got Umpqua Ice Cream, which will be handy in the Summer months!

Be warned when you walk into this place, your teeth may spontaneously fall out. It’s an adorable little old school sweet shop. This visit found a whole new section of valentine’s candies, gumdrops and chocolates that made me almost wish I had a valentine to buy them for me. Then I decided, screw the valentine and bought them all for myself!
There is a great selection of gourmet and spendy chocolates and truffles, ice cream, and a wall behind the counter with jars of all the candy you remember from childhood. If only my mom was still living with me to take away the candy before I gave myself a stomachache and went into sugar shock. Now leave me be so I can get back to my sour watermelons…
