This was the worst mechanic experience I have ever had. Go to Alamo automotive instead. Please go to Alamo automotive instead, I just can’t reiterate that enough.
Two weeks after having spent $ 3500 on maintenance and repairs, on a beautiful Sunday morning, the car decided to not start. I should mention that the car had never had trouble starting in the 4 years that I have had it, but now suddenly it happened.
I took the car back to swede one and I was quoted $ 1399 for a fuel pump job. I was told on the phone that this was an 8 hour job, and that is why the estimate was so high. Being that I needed the car fixed, I agreed at 2pm on Monday for them to do the job. I was told then that they would have to order the part that needed to be ordered and would be at the shop first thing in the morning, but that the car should be ready by the end of the next day, Tuesday. To my surprise I got a call at around 11 am on Tuesday saying that the car was ready for me to pick up. Being a math teacher, I quickly realized that the job could not have possibly taken more than 6 hours. That is, even if they started working on the car immediately after I hung up the phone on monday until closing (5pm) and then started on it immediately on Tuesday at 8am and finished right before they called me, that would have only added up to 6 hours, at most.
When bringing that up when trying to pick up the car, the entire staff was incredibly dismissive and unwilling to work with me and adjust the total. Again, this is after having spent 3500 just two weeks before, for a whopping total of almost 5k on a car that is barely worth that.
I am incredible upset and surprised that they would not adjust the price for two hours of labor that were not used. I was told by another guy that this is a flat rate shop. So, if a job takes less than the time quoted, they will still charge the full amount. I was not told this in advance. I did not sign anything saying that I would pay for unused labor hours if the job was done sooner. But most of all, I am shocked that this awful shop would treat a customer that spent 5k on maintenance at their shop like this. Jim, one of the guys there actually started yelling at me and telling me to pay my bill and get out of there and take it to court. I just can’t believe that they would do this.
Please consider all the other options before bringing your car to swede one. They will overly charge you and possibly throw parts at you that you don’t need to make their ends meet. Like the cooling fan relay that I was told would fix my ac issues when I spent the original 3500. Turns out that it didn’t fix anything. And I was charged for the cooling fan relay and the labor for it. When I asked about it they said very casually: «oh yeah, you probably need a new compressor» totaling another 1000 bucks if done.
Thanks swede one for having zero consideration toward your customers, for charging for unnecessary parts, and for blatantly and explicitly overcharging in labor. And Dave, I can’t wait to see what kind of half ass response you’re going to come up with. I’ve seen how rude you are to people in person, and I have read what you respond to people online.
I would never again in my right mind take my Volvo here again. The guys at Alamo are great, honest, competent, and have awesome customer service skills, unlike the people working at swede one.

I came here because my usual Volvo shop, Alamo, was booked up. I regret this decision immensely. I needed a checkup for my car as I’m going on a long road trip soon and wanted to make sure everything was still running okay. I called ahead and made an appointment for 8:00 am, and when I came in, I was told everything would take one to two hours. It is past 12:00 pm and I’m still here. It took them 3 hours to decide that I needed a new battery and water pump despite being the literal first person here in the shop this morning (with an appointment!). An hour ago I was told it would be another 20 minutes to replace my battery. No word on that yet. The waiting room is frigid; if I make it out of here alive I will be surprised. There’s no coffee in the coffee pot. I wish to god I never came here. If you need repairs for your Volvo, go to Alamo. For the love of god don’t come to Swede One.

Worst experience ever. I went in 3 different times with 3 – 4 problems. They would fix one problem. My car started acting worse after they did work & I actually had something hanging with 3 bolts missing right after leaving the last time.
All of those times I had a coolant light on. Asked them to fix it every time & they told me it was just the light that kept coming on. Nothing was wrong. NOT TRUE. Now I am leaking coolant & may have blown a head gasket. I am very unhappy & will never ever go back. BEWARE. They are terrible.

They have always done a good job, explained what and why they were doing clearly, and charged a fair price. I recommend them.

Work they have done in the past has been OK but costly. This time they replaced a pump in the differential but the problem persists. After driving 20 about miles I parked in my driveway and after a short time discovered a small pool of oil on the concrete under the differential. With no way to check the fluid level myself and assuming all the fluid may have drained out in twenty miles, I called them. They gave me the «option» of driving the car in or having it towed. Why would I drive a car that may not have fluid in the differential? I got a song and dance about the fluid being overflow left on the chassis. Then I was required to pay for the towing! What happened to customer satisfaction?
Later that day they called to tell me they were reversing the charges for towing.

Once again I drive away a happy customer. I have had my many Volvo’s serviced at Swede One for the past 10+ years and want to send them some props. Dave Davis and his staff have always taken care of Volvos… they are the reason I continue to purchase Volvo’s and have them serviced only at Swede One. They care… they really do. I drive over 30 miles from my home everytime I have my car serviced which is not that often. They are always fair and straight forward and look for options (used or rebuilt) parts if I request. I would highly recommend Swede One to any Volvo owners. I am a realtor who drives way too many miles in my life and my Volvo gets me there all the time. Thank you Swede One!

Don’t go here!!! They are terrible!
I had almost the exact same experience as Melissa M.
At one point they replaced my fuel pump and my car began to have a large hum. When I called them about it, they said they gave me a «free upgrade» and so it was better pump and I should be happy with it! The only way to not hear the noise was to turn the radio on really loud. I went back to have them switch it out and literally three days later my car broke down again! I think they just put my old pump back in. I have now spent between $ 700-​$ 1000 on this problem. I will never go back!

They’ve worked on my car a couple of times (and did fine work) but the last two times I called for a job quote their prices were higher than anyone else so i stopped using them.
They seem more interested in selling used cars than actually servicing cars.

Overall very happy with this place. They are kind and helpful, explain all their work, call to follow-​up and so forth. They are also reasonably priced.
The only drawback is the location. If you need to wait for your car, there is literally nowhere to go nearby so you are stuck in the waiting room, which is pretty nice fortunately.

Really frustrated with this place. They didn’t finish the job. Didn’t return a voice mail about some problems. Then told my wife to come back at another time because they were busy. Basically, the moment they had our money was the moment they stopped caring.

I brought my ’93 Volvo sedan to this shop three different times when it started constantly stalling out, a problem that another shop later immediately diagnosed as a malfunctioning fuel pump relay. Because they were recommended to me by a retired Volvo mechanic with a great reputation, I kept believing that they were just on the verge of diagnosing the problem, and kept shelling out for repairs which ended up costing hundreds of dollars. They were blasé about the repeated repairs and inconvenience and never once offered to discount their services, even after multiple failures to fix the car. Even though I was constantly stalling out, they claimed that they couldn’t reproduce the problem in the shop or with a road test. After all those attempts, and the other shop’s ability to immediately diagnose and fix the problem, I feel they just didn’t try hard enough.
I accept that diagnostics can be tricky, especially on my particular model, but there’s no excuse for the lack of concern on their end. After the third attempt failed, they never followed up with me again to find out what happened. By contrast, my current shop (VOL-​Tech), who fixed this problem and several since, have called me each and every time afterwards to make sure everything was going well and that I was satisfied. Avoid unless you have a lot of money and patience to burn.
