Seven Star Acupuncture & Apothecary

Let me start by saying I didn’t actually receive any services… I was planning to get acupuncture in hopes of inducing labor (I’m 4 days past my due date). The acupuncturists may be very good at what they do, but I didn’t stick around to find out.
I was told to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork… Which I did. I was greeted by a sign at reception saying that someone would be with me shortly, so I sat down to wait.
The waiting area was quite dirty and reeked of cigarette smoke. It was also quite noisy from what I assume were the neighboring businesses. Definitely not a relaxing environment in my opinion… Or one I felt seemed sanitary enough for acupuncture.
I ended up leaving when no one showed up by my appointment time… Not sure if the treatment rooms are any better but I was pretty grossed out by the state of the waiting area. Definitely don’t go here if you’re looking for a sterile, spa-​like environment.

I suffer from SEVERE Osteoarthritis in both my knees and ankles and I can’t even describe the level of pain my knees and legs were at going in…10+++ may be close! Mainstream medicine is NOT working so I’ve decided on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Massage to get through my situation! JESS is the best! She was so thorough in going over my history and showed true concern and empathy in her treatment! Her personality made me feel comfortable immediately and her compassion was so appreciated! Her treatment was amazing and the way she worked with me throughout put me at ease. Certain parts of my legs she couldn’t touch because they were so sore (I assumed that would be the case), but she worked around that area magically and the treated areas feel amazing tonight! I look forward to my next visit to hopefully start working on the areas she couldn’t treat today! I would recommend JESS and SSA&A to anyone who believes in acupuncture! Thank you to to Jess and Diane for caring so much!

This was my first time ever receiving acupuncture and it was such a positive experience! Jess was super thorough and present and really listened to what I had to say. She took her time with me, making sure to explain the process and see if I had any questions or concerns. I don’t really have anything else to compare it to since it was my first acupuncture treatment but I will definitely be going back here!

Love this place! I had shoulder pain and after the first treatment it felt 100% better. Now I’m getting weekly treatments on my face love it! !Aisha is so caring. She really listens and explains everything!

I’ve had terrible neck and shoulder pain for a few months now. One morning I decided that it was enough. I called seven star and they fit me in that afternoon. I booked a 1hr massage. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly secretary. The massage therapist asked if I would be willing to try acupuncture to loosen up the deep tissue… she sold me. She also did a cupping procedure that really helped the issue…
This place rocks! They really care about the health and well being of their customers. I will definitely go back… hopefully sooner than later!

Wow, what a great clinic with caring and supportive staff! I had never had acupuncture before, and Kathryn Peak really made me feel at ease. She took the time to truly listen to me and address my concerns. I really enjoyed her professionalism and thorough assessment and treatment. I continue to see her for back pain, and she has been very helpful. The half and half (half massage, half acupuncture) is amazing! She has such a relaxing massage technique and her needling style is so gentle. I really appreciate that she continues to check in on how I’m feeling while the needles are placed so that we can get the perfect treatment, together. I have never felt so relaxed after any other massage as I have with the half and half. I would highly recommend seeing Kathryn!

Awesome community-​supported, sliding-​scale acupuncture clinic! The practitioners are knowledgeable & kind. The volunteers working the front desk rock! This is a great little spot in SE.

I had a horrible, terrible, very bad back ache. I was just working my day away when all of a sudden… I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even sit!
So my dude rescued me from work and took me straight over to Seven Star for a «half and half» of acupuncture and massage. I walked out of there a new person! This all happened on xmas eve… I was so happy they were open and had availability to help me out.
Wow!!! Seriously… WOW!
I had Lynx fix me up… I will be a lifelong fan of Lynx’s now. She answered all my questions and didn’t make me feel like an annoyance during this stressful moment for me. She was very sweet and kind.
They have a sliding scale for payment… so you can pay what feels right to you.
I read all the reviews before I decided that this was going to be my first acupuncture try… (I was planning to do this later on… but my back spasm got me there much sooner) and I couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Seven Star took me in same day, just hours after my other acupuncturist bailed on my for a labor induction session (epic fail on her part!).
Receptionist was super helpful and friendly. I went in for two sessions — one on my due date and one the following day. Both practitioners were wonderful as far as learning about my pregnancy and progression. I’m no beginner to acupuncture but I am to pregnancy and labor/​delivery. Both women made me feel at ease and let me know exactly what to expect, plus delivered information about how I could further speed along the progress. Two days later, I haven’t had contractions yet, but I’m hopeful baby is coming soon. The treatment I did receive really helped to open my pelvis and take away my lingering hip pain. Rooms and ambience were very comfortable. I think this is my new #1 go-​to place. Acupuncturist and massuesse Green was truly amazing and built great repoire right off the bat. Thank you!

Here I was, a first timer to acupuncture. I’ve had the same run-​of-​the-​mill problems as most people (aches/​pains, allergies, some insomnia and other little «mostly treated» ailments). I heard this place was great and they offered a sliding scale, which I was excited about. I called from work one morning and was delighted that they could get me in same day.
I was the last patient and not only did I feel rushed, I feel like I didn’t get the proper treatment. i had talked to a lot of people that had acupuncture for the same reasons as I and I felt like I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into (size of the needles, amount of needles, placement of needles, length of exam)… But I was wrong. I had a male acupuncturist (experience of six years) and he didn’t put the needles in any of the places I expected, fine. The needles were super thick and really painful, I expected the pain to cease shortly after insertion, but it didn’t (I even mentioned it), again if this was going to help with the major issues I was going through, fine. He put ten needles in and left me alone for about ten minutes, in which I couldn’t relax because the needles were puncturing places that were tense and painful.
After he removed the needles, I bled from almost every needle, it was hard to walk and my hands felt cramped into the next day! Everyone I spoke to was very surprised at my experience and I was told to definitely see someone else and give it a second chance.
Since then I’ve had cupping and acupuncture elsewhere and it was 100x better, I didn’t leave in pain, the needles didn’t hurt, I felt relaxed when the acupuncturist left the room and most importantly, I feel like my ailments have been TAKEN CARE OF… after all, that’s why we’re here, right?!
Side note: If you try this place for the first time, take note of everything you write in your records in case you go elsewhere… getting my records released was a nightmare and the staff was not friendly or helpful whatsoever, I was actually dumbfounded at the amount of effort it took them to release my records back to me.

Everyone I’ve gotten acupuncture from here has been great, friendly, helpful, and super responsive to my needs (especially if I don’t even know what my needs are :). I generally go for back pain, emotional instability, stress, jaw tension, and arm tension from the computer.
Each of the practitioners is a little different, so I can pick a different practitioner every time I go depending on what I want in a treatment. I’ve been to Aisha, Green and Alison, and love them all :) I’ve had a few massages (Shiatsu/​Tui-​na) from Green, and I’ve never had better! (I’ve never had one from Aisha or Alison, or the other massage therapists there, who I’m sure are awesome, too). They also will put a Chinese herbal formula together for you depending on what you need.
The sliding scale is generous and awesome, allowing me to pay more when I’m able, and less when I am not. They’re all real smart, too. Go!

I am terrified TERRIFIED of needles but I was willing to put my fear aside hopefully for relief of 4 months of pain… Glad I did.
My Pilates instructor suggested that I try acupuncture for the lower back pain I had been experiencing. After a lot of discussion about all of my neurosis I was told to lay on the table. One by one needles were inserted into my body. The first one was in my forehead and I broke out into a sweat, then realized it wasn’t THAT bad. Twenty five minutes on my back I turn over and get treatment on my back as well. I walked out of there completely relaxed and wanting to take a nap… what needles??? If anyone is in of stress relief, pain relief or just a general feeling of calm you should make your way to this little sliding scale clinic and you will walk away feeing great! Best part is, I keep going back!

Best acupuncture in Portland! I absolutely love it there! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere is great.
