Specialties
For more than 30 years Dr. Higdon has devoted his dental practice to the non-surgical management of temporomandibular disorders («TMJ») and related problems with the jaw system, such as problems with a bad bite. Very few in health care have been in a position to provide comprehensive care in this often misunderstood area of dental responsibility.
History
Established in 1980.
At that time Dr. Higdon recognized that a variety of conditions were not being addressed for which dentists should be professionally responsible. These included jaw pain, jaw locking, headaches, limited opening, pain with chewing, tooth grinding (bruxism). All of these conditions can be treated by a knowledgable dentist. And yet, this has not been a part of dental training. Often patients have a difficult time finding a knowledgable dentist to provide the needed treatment.

Dr. Higdon was the first dentist in Oregon to establish a dental practice that is entirely devoted to the treatment of «TMJ» disorders. Because dentists are not taught this important information in their professional training, Dr. Higdon has long been recognized as a professional resource for dentists who feel that a more knowledgeable person should provide this unique care for their patients.
