If minus stars were available, I’d use those! Having shopped at safeway in denver for many years, I halfway expected some sort of professionalism at other safeway stores. Holy! Crap! How does this store even exist! While searching the aisles for a very common product, I was approached by an employee, Bonnie, asking if she could help me find something. Its the«normal» approach for«loss prevention»(store dicks) employees to make shoplifters aware that they’re being watched. When asked about said very common product, I was informed, by her, that her store«sucks and you should take your business elsewhere». Uhhhh. Note to safeway! U’r not exactly in a food desert in Raleigh Hills, at 6 corners with what, lets say at least 4 other shopping options in a 2 mile radius! Is she a tenured employee, like a shitty school teacher who can’t get fired, cuz like other reviewers, Bonnie has turned this loyal patron into a new Fred Meyer customer. And they thank you Bonnie, cuz my Family’s monthly grocery bill far exceeds your obviously low salary, which probably matches u’r IQ level minus a few zero’s. Other than that, this store really does suck and I’m as white as white bread, so its not profiling!!! Bonnie just hates herself and wants everyone else to feel her pain.

BONNIE follows anyone with a dark complexion around the store with a suspicious scowl. This is a fact. I’ve complained once, and I heard an elderly black woman complain about her to management a month or so after I did and still nothing has happened. Tonight, after leaving the store with my purchases, I threw 2 small plastic shopping bags away that had some cups and general stuff that had accumulated in my boyfriend’s car away. He just had surgery TONIGHT and needed the leg room. I couldn’t get the heavy metal top to the trash off and almost cut my hand attempting to do so, so I just placed the bag on top of the trash. She apparently watched me do this from inside the store(For some reason her eyes are ALWAYS on me from the moment I come in until I leave, even though I am(for some idiotic reason) a frequent shopper at this location. She ran out of the store accompanied by a male employee and approached me in the parking lot as I was loading my car to say«You can’t just throw your trash away here!» I replied«I can’t? It’s a trash can. I would have put it inside, but I couldn’t get the metal thing off. Sorry.» She replied«If this is how you’re going to act, don’t come back to this store!» EXCUSEME? Is that how Safeway trains its employees to speak to customers? Look, I am fully aware that what I did might be considered annoying by sales staff(I worked in retail for over 10 years) but it was definitely not worth her verbally banning me from the store. I asked to speak to the manager. She said«I am the manager!»(Probably a lie) So I walked away, and she took a photo of me with her phone! I’ll be speaking with the real manager tomorrow.

I was treated like a queen here! Sure, the store is small– but I like that! I was meeting a friend here for lunch as there’s not a lot in the neighborhood and Safeway has a very good Deli. The sign on the building needs painting– badly– but don’t let that stop you! The inside is charming if you like convenience and service! And no waiting in lines. I walked up and was taken care of immediately and spoken to pleasantly. Josh, Marjie, Bonnie, Brenda, Rick and all the staff are happy to be working and where are you going to find that? I wasn’t treated half as well at New Seasons or at Market of Choice on my last few visits. You’d think those other stores would want to win my business as I’m not a regular there. Safeway does– and is just better. Too bad they don’t remodel this location, as there is a ton of competition nearby. But yay for me and those who shop here and discover this little neighborhood gem? Cause the fewer who know how great they are here, the fewer times any customer here will wait for anything!!! Great job, team 4510!

Old, old store but really personable employes. The produce feels so small compared to lifestyle format stores. Bottle return still inside(unheard of) and smell of rotten vegetables behind produce area. I wonder now that Albertsons bought out Safeway if this store has long to live.

I like to go here because it’s on my way home from work. Sadly, the manager here is always look mad and grouchy. Moreover, this place is always out of stocks. There is usually one cashier on normal day, they add 1 more on Friday night. It’s usually quiet. I came here yesterday and it’s not busy. I bought my stuffs and I swiped the wrong card, so I asked the cashier to let me redone my transaction. She immediately asked the manager Bonnies(for what I remember) how to do it. The manager said there’s nothing they can do about it. I told her that she can just let me return and repurchase. A simple problem sold. It’s just a basic customer service skill for cashier and the manager doesn’t even know how to do it? Or she just didn’t want to help at the first place. Next time I hope they can have a smarter manager that dont need customers show them how to do their jobs. Not done yet, while she was doing the transaction she didn’t stop complaining and grouchy. Told me not to do it again. She couldn’t get the transaction to the same amount on my receipt. Again, you don’t know how to do your job. She took almost 1 hour to just help me repurchased and she’s a manager. Wonder how long it takes for the cashier. I went home and feel so annoyed all night. You ruin my night. I should just leave and leave those groceries behind. Wasting my time. Such a bad experience. BAD customer service. I’ll never go back there.

I think I must be spoiled, I have been to other safeways and I love them. I park in this lot and already people are in the parking lot acting shady. I hesitantly leave my car out in the parking lot and i walk inside and the cashier is talking about people robbing the store blind and her not caring(oh yay dont I feel even better about leaving my car outside!) So I walk around to get a few things and they dont even have half of them. I wanted Rotel tomatoes they only had their brand I know im a little particular but its what I wanted. I went to get avacados, none of them looked good only a few were ripe but I decided that I would just stop by a fred meyer on the way home I was kind of sad I stopped here! They had a good sale on soda which they usually do but I wish I would have just gone further away to go to the better safeway.

Sucks that this is the closest Safeway to where I live. I only come here to get a couple things, when I absolutely need them. It’s oldskool. The parking lot sucks, and not just driving. Try pushing your cart out to your car and the whole cart rattles super loud over the terrible rocky pavement. It actually makes me giggle, cause its so stupid. This Safeway needs a re-model ASAP.

Old, old, old store, but the employees are very friendly. As another reviewer mentioned they have your basic grocery items but are lacking nearly all of the amenities that most Safeways have had for 10+ years now. The condition and selection of this store seems more suited to a small town circa 1982 rather than an affluent Portland suburb. This Safeway deserves a remodel! The parking lot has a ridiculous number of speed bumps considering I’ve never seen more than 3 cars in it at any given time.

Way to GO… SAFEWAY…ya got me !! It will NOT happen again ! This rant is directed at Safeway stores nationwide… not just my local one in Portland. Just before Easter they had a big promotion. «Buy $ 75 in groceries, get $ 10 off your next visit.» LIARS ! LIARS! LIARS! So today(less than a week from my $ 120 purchase), I go back… and guess what? Coupon mice type: «Must be used no later than April 10th» SCREWYOU, Safeway. I will get even with you. Not sure how, But revenge will be mine, Safeway !! And it will cost you WAY more than $ 10 !! (Ah, I feel much better now)

Many supermarkets have upgraded their interiors, offering tons of Organic options, with hot food counters and stir-fry and tastings of all sorts. This Safeway takes me back to when a market was just that — a place to buy stuff. The nice part about this place not upgrading? They don’t need to pay for it — beer and wine are cheap, they’ve got what you need, and the staff are nice.
