Me like. Me REALLY like. So much to choose from. Waiting for a table I was able to see a number of dishes that looked delicious. Salad rolls. Yes. Fresh. Crunchy. Elegantly presented. Red curry with shrimp. Excellent. Great flavors. Beautiful shrimp. A variety of eggplant and fresh vegetables. This is a family owned and run restaurant dedicated to the beauty of the food and the Thai culture. I don’t run into many dining experiences like this but when I do I find the it’s the best kind; great food, honest dedication, driving for perfection, warmth, hospitality… All things I liked to be served.

Holy cow. I was not expecting much based on the humble shopping plaza. The green papaya salad and seafood panang curry were incredible. I wish they had beer and wine but getting a huge 4 course dinner that fed 2 hungry adults for 34 bucks and enjoying the best Thai food I can remember more than makes up for it.

Went back again to give it a second chance. This time ate at the restaurant and no chicken dishes. We ordered phuket fried rice with tofu, drunken noodle with seafood and papaya salad all with medium spice. All the dishes were surprisingly good. Will be going back again.

Sa Bai Thai is the best Thai food restaurant I’ve tried. Their service is friendly, and their food is amazing. It’s a weekly(or more) stop during lunch for myself and many of my co-workers. I’ve had the Pad Thai, Phuket Fried Rice, and the Salad Rolls, and all of them are amazing. Definitely a place to try.

Perfection! Fresh ingredients — tasty spice with purpose. Looks dodgy from the outside, but it is fabulous food! Some homemade spiced oils on the table were excellent. AND? Inexpensive.

Clean, extremely friendly, fast and tasty; I stopped in to see if it really is as good as advertised — and I wasn’t disappointed! Ordered the Chicken Spring Rolls(had to try the peanut sauce for myself), and the Dumplings; tempted to try one of their many lunch specials that start daily once they open at 10:30(but this way I have reason to go back; and I will!). The Spring rolls were fresh crispy and cold — with a warm peanut sauce for dipping(so worth the $ 4.50). Dumplings had a nice flavor profile, but was disappointed I was served a sweet chili dipping sauce vs the advertised plum sauce — but the speed and presentation more then made up for the no plum sauce. I will be back for sure, a great find right on the way to Costco…

I’m really sorry that I can’t accommodate the owner. I did tell him that I would give him a lousy rating if he comped my dinner, but alas, no. The food is definitely worth the 5 stars. I had Thai eggplant stirfry, it was well balanced and very tasty. Brendt had Kua Kai which the owner steered him to after hearing of Brendt’s pepper allergy. It was flavorful and really lovely. The décor is tasteful and is a far cry from strip mall chic. We’ll be back even if he did make us buy our own dinner.

Epitome of don’t judge a book by it’s cover. In a what looks like almost abandoned shopping center this Thai restaurant is truly a gem. The mango seafood stir fry was fresh, flavorful, and had the right amount of heat. Would definitely come back.

ABSOLUTELYAMAZING. Every single dish is fresh, with the perfect amount of flavor. The teriyaki chicken is unbelievably fantastic. The pad see ew and pad Thai are to die for. Even the egg rolls are wonderful. The service is wonderful, it’s extremely home-y. Our server had a smile on her face the whole time, making everyone feel very welcomed. We complimented the owner about the food and he responded with«it’s not about the money for us, it’s about making it with love so everybody can enjoy it.» Never have I ever been so impressed.

I was in town visiting my mom and this place looked good for a quick lunch. The food was amazing and we got to speak with the owner and try his recommendations. Overall, this was a wonderful little restaurant and I will try to make it in the next time I am in town.

Super friendly and accommodating staff. In addition to the food being amazing, they can cater dishes to any dietary restrictions you have. I can’t eat seafood and I have a friend with a peanut allergy and we’ve both been able to eat here without issue. This is just a few minutes from my work and I probably eat here at least twice a month. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience or less than wonderful food.

Sa Bai Thai is a secluded jewel of terrific Thai food … way off the beaten path in a strip-mall in Northeast Portland. It’s not fancy. It’s not convenient; however, it is Thai … authentic Thai served with genuine Mom-n-Pop home-style friendliness. Before we get to the food, I must recommend the Homemade Spicy Sauce. Anyone that’s followed my reviews, knows I lika da spicaay. Get whatever heat level you prefer with your dishes at Sa Bai Thai, but be sure to try their spicy sauce for an extra kick. We tried 5 dishes. All were 4 to 5 stars. You’d never guess from outside the Thai flavors waiting at Sa Bai Thai. I recommend all of the following: * Pad Kee Mao with Chicken * Red Curry with Duck * Spicy Seafood Salad with Prawns, Mussels, Squid, and Scallops * Thai Eggplant with Pork * Crispy(Fried) Tofu Check out my pics of these dishes to get your mouth watering and then find an excuse to head to NE Portland or PDX cause Sa Bai Thai Cuisine was a special surprise of sweet(service) and spicy(sauce).

Best Thai food in town so far. It’s somewhere you’ll have to find intentionally. The owners also operate the restaurant and are awesome people. My family is large with young twins and they had no issues helping us. Food is the greatest part. Had the pot stickers, egg rolls, calamari, fried rice, and beef pad see ew. Everything I put in my mouth was magical. It was so good we went back a few days later for take out. Enjoy!

Yum. Sa Bair offers some of the best Thai food I’ve had in PDX. I can’t say if it’s authentic or not. Thai cuisine offers a flavor profile I like but I’m not an expert in what makes it good or authentic. All I can say is that I really enjoyed the food here. Everything is fresh and the portions and prices are good. The people are very nice and the place is clean and it has a casual, comfortable feel. I would recommend ordering your meal«mild» if you still like a bit of a kick and a lasting sting on the lips for a whiel after eating. Maybe order no spice if you are the type who is always saying, NOTTOOSPICY and then feeling upset when you can feel the heat on your tongue. The mild here is what many Americans might call medium or even hot. You will notice the chili. People are not exaggerating. Order No Spice if you are sensitive. You can always add hot sauce if you can take more, but I like a little heat and the mild was perfect for me. Looking forward to my next visit when I pick up someone from the airport. We’re too lazy to drive out this far otherwise, although I probably would if I

Wow! A hidden gem and worth the trek from North Portland! We had a delicious dinner here last night and we’re definitely coming back. Nice staff, too. We’re super picky about Thai food and have tried several places around town since moving here. This is our favorite by far! Here’s what we enjoyed: — Salad rolls: very fresh and flavorful. Nice presentation — Bangkok fried rice with beef: got it mild, but it had the right amount of spice and tons of flavor — Drunken noodles with pork(husband got spicy level hot for this, which kicked his arse!) — Bowl of Tom Yum with tofu: Steaming hot and tasty, with tons of mushrooms and tofu, and not too much tomato(some places overdo this). Yummy broth that was super flavorful… not too heavy on any one flavor, very balanced — Cashew nut with tofu: Great crunchy veggies and tasty sauce. Had the rest for breakfast today(don’t judge!) — Thai iced tea and Mountain Dew I only wish they had offered brown rice vs. white, but no biggie. For your first time here, recommend mild spice for all dishes to be safe!
