Simply fantastic Thai food. !!! Incredible flavors, huge portions, fresh veggies, pastas, and affordable. South East best Thai food but a little far out. It’s a dive and hard to find but Worth the adventure. Anyone who gave this a bad review is just claustrophobic. Don’t dine in its tiny. Perfect for takeout, call ahead get your food and run in Thai bliss. !!!

I have been coming here for years. The best Pad Thai around. The pot stickers are fried to perfection. & their sauces are amazing! Peanut sauce is a must! Pad Se Ew is so damn good. They know what they are doing. The places is constantly busy with to go orders and packed seating during lunch. The staff is so nice and friendly. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out!

This place is great for first time AND last time. I read a few reviews saying that this place is a hole in a wall and the food was good. Got hole in the wall alright but the food wasn’t good. It was okay/edible. The curry is really flavorless and the noodles lacks meat. The fried rice was okay but i wouldn’t go here JUST for the fried rice. The portion is big. My advice is not to go there on a hot day. No A/C and no fans. The other part is the experience. This place is small so you can hear everything, i mean EVERYTHING. I thought the workers were fighting the whole time(verbally). They spoke in Thai so i couldn’t understand if they’re just speaking to each other loudly or they’re actually yelling at each other. The lady was caught between taking my order, screaming at the cook and ringing up another customer. She was a little rude to me when i asked for pepper but I guess she’s juggling five things at once. All in all, I got 3 out of 4 things i ordered and i paid quickly and got the hell out of there. Sayonara!

Best Thai food! I really need to try something besides the Pad Thai but for now, I can’t get enough of it.

Just ate there for the first time. It was great! We love Thai food and eat it all the time and this place was very good. Very authentic. Spices were just right. Staff was very nice and thoughtful. Would come back often but we were visiting from California. Would definitely recommend it!

tl;dr: Just eat here. It is the best thai food ever. This is legitimately the best Thai food I’ve ever had, and that’s after crawling around Portland for a year searching for something as good as my best place in Seattle… The portions are huge(you can easily get two«I’m pretty starving» meals out of one entrée), the staff was friendly, the space was clean, they have nam pla prick on the table. Every table! But, more importantly: EVERYTHINGISDELICIOUS. Like, «consistently going back for another bite because you can’t believe food could be so delicious» delicious. We ordered Thai iced teas, salad rolls(fresh rolls?), potstickers, Pad Thai(chicken, 2 stars), and Pad See Ew(beef, 0 stars). The Thai teas are lovely, very fresh. They’re a bit sweeter than I prefer, but my other half drank his down with joy. The salad rolls were LOVELY. So flipping good. Very fresh, soft, basil-free(which is my personal preference) and the peanut sauce that came with it was so perfect. The potstickers were very good, according to my other half. I generally don’t prefer them, but he is a potsticker fan and ate them all with gusto. Pad Thai came out first, and was absolutely to die for. Just the right amount of tamarind, lime, peanuts… noodles perfectly cooked, soft but just enough chew. Everything about it made me feel like I had never truly tasted pad Thai before, because this was soon good. I suppose it wasn’t spicy even slightly, but was delicious like I’ve never even experienced before. The pad see ew was killer, absolutely stunning. Not as charred as I prefer, but soft, chewy, perfectly seasoned, and the beef was luscious. We tried their nam pla prick on both the noodle dishes. It’s so tasty. I could eat it on everything! Just writing this review makes me want more. It’s a 30 minute drive from our house and worth every second. We will be back time and again!

The best Thai food I’ve had in Portland. Seriously. We started with the golden Triangles=so much flavor and perfect crisp texture with a soft savory center. Then we ordered Thai fried rice with shrimp, Evil Jungle with Shrimp, Pad Thai with Chicken and Pad Kee Mao with Pork. Everything had its own unique flavor. Delicious, nothing bland perfect mixture of sweet, salty and savory. This is my new regular spot. Do not miss out.

Found this place using Google maps to look for restaurants nearby. Just a head’s up — this place is just a hole in the wall. If you’re in a large group, forget about it, and a dozen patrons in there will make it feel crowded. If you don’t mind the tiny space, the food is delicious. Had the yellow curry with chicken for lunch and the curry sauce has just the right blend of ingredients so that the coconut milk base’s flavor doesn’t dominate. I asked for medium heat which had just enough kick to keep my lips pleasantly tingling long after the meal. Definitely a local favorite and a place to count on for great curry.

The food was good, but nothing any more special than any other thai food joint. The staff was mediocre friendly but that didn’t bother me. They weren’t rude but weren’t overly friendly and welcoming either. The reason it gets 3 stars is because the place is SO tiny that it was quite uncomfortable to be there — which defeats the purpose of eating out. We were super cramped and right next to the door which kept getting opened and closed by customers, and never closed properly leaving a cold draft coming in at all times. It was one of those, let’s scarf quick and get out of here situations, unfortunately. I go out to eat 90% of the time not out of necessity of just needing food, but seeking an enjoying atmosphere to have conversation in. This was not the place for that. Good food if you just need food, not a place to hang out in and enjoy your company.

Was looking to try a new place and Chai Thai was a pleasant surprise. I ordered takeout and it was ready within 10 minutes, hot and good portion. I got the Pineapple Curry with chicken, delicious. My boyfriend thought it might be too exotic for him but ended up eating the better half of it! It is very tasty and has a good kick. I also got complimentary spring rolls with peanut sauce, they were also very good and the peanut sauce went very well. When i went to pick it up the atmosphere was inviting and the lady at the counter was nice. I will definitely be going back and recommend it to others.

I came here with the perception that Chai Thai is more popular and higher rated than any other thai restaurant in Portland, well here is my official review afterwards. I came here with two friends after a long day of hiking. We came in, and a lady welcomed us and allowed us to pick any seats. +1 in my book. She didn’t talk much at first. Cups of water came promptly(it was super hot that day in the 85s), our food was prepared quickly, and it was in huge proportions. For the price, I got what I paid for. Tip: their medium spicy is not to be underestimated. I had to drink after every bite, and she refilled my water at times so stealthily that I didn’t even know it. +1. After seeing us eat, the lady talked to us more. We shared interesting talks together, found out Joy was her name. Thank you for the entertaining conversations and keeping me and my friends entertained while we enjoyed the food. Chai thai is a great local family-owned restaurant and I’m definitely supporting them.

This place was super great – tiny, and set-up like a diner(with stools and everything). The food was made amazingly fast, and was really good. We had to order everything non-spicy(because two kids) but there was still a ton of flavor, and the portions were great. I would give this five stars except they didn’t have a high chair which made it challenging to eat with a squirmy almost one-year-old :) The staff was super sweet and this seems like a treasure way out here in SE.

This was a great discovery! Just visiting Portland, and was in the mood for some Thai food. Had the shrimp fresh rolls and red curry(spice level 3 — AWESOME!). Staff was very friendly. Would love to come back!

I just ordered lunch for two. Pad Ke Mao and Red Curry(evil jungle?). They were both very bland to the point of being tasteless. Some of the worst Thai I have had in a long time. I would have to say that the other reviews either do not know what decent Thai food is or there is a seriously horrible cook that pops in from time to time. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Unilocal to the rescue again ! My coworkers and I were looking to pick up some lunch today and we wanted a place that would be close, quick, and yes.good. I was checking out my Unilocal App and read a review by Elite Unilocaler, Jesy B she loved this place and I was convinced it would be pretty tasty. The place is a trip, on the inside it looks like an old ice cream parlor or a shoe repair business. It’s small and narrow with seating around the cashier area. It probably seats maybe 12 – 15 people tops. Not exactly the Taj Mahal but that’s Ok. I ordered the Evil Jungle(L4) L is for«lunch special» It was really wonderful, not oversalted and a perfect balance of fresh veggies and noodles in a silky curry sauce with fresh cilantro on top, definitely Get This. My Boss loved her Pad Thai, she said it was one of the best she ever had. She had what I call, «love in her eyes» So, I was kinda blown away by the food here, I would go back for sure. Great take out spot !

Almost unanimously loved it was great Thai food(we had the evil jungle plate and drunken noodles) portions were really good, both couldn’t finish. Seating was very limited, but you can tell that from the outside so no reason to raise a fuss. Food was delicious of course and the staff seemed to know everyone there, she was really sweet.

This is the kind of place you need to call ahead and order since its so packed and busy because the food is amazing at low prices. Think of the«Soup Nazi» from Seinfeld. You deal with the attitude to get the best tasting food in the world. The owner spends more time on cooking good food vs. being«polite» and babying customers. I hope she doesn’t change a thing!

Solid Thai food outside the main part of Portland! I ordered the tofu pad Thai and it was very tasty — just needed a little bit of a kick to it. The Thai tea was also very good. Easy to see why this is a popular spot for Thai in the area!

Food adventures. One of my favorite things to do. Not a crazy adventure. Only 100 blocks from where we currently live, but still a part of town we don’t normally go to. Some friends told us about Chai Thai. Glad to have these friends. Chai Thai is very small. Probably room for about 20 at tables and another 5 – 10 at the counter. We found a seat right by the front door at the counter. It was amazing how many times I had to get up from my seat to shut the front door as nobody knew how to properly close it. Don’t know why you needed to know that, but I like to share. The kitchen was tiny. Just barely enough for 2 people to be back there cooking. The woman behind the counter was very friendly. She seemed to know a good amount of the people that were coming in or leaving. That is a good sign of a good neighborhood establishment that people keep coming back to. We started our meal with shrimp rolls($ 8) which were good if not spectacular. Six come in an order with some sweet and sour dipping sauce. For my main I hope I had the Evil Jungle. It has been a few weeks. Looking at the picture I took seems to match up with the description. Thai special curry sauce dispensed onto rice noodles with bell peppers, bamboo shoots and basil. You get a choice of meats(or tofu) and I chose chicken. I like spicy, but decided to keep it on the milder side to make sure it wasn’t overpowering on my first visit here. It wasn’t spicy at all so I will opt to go hotter the next time we come out this way. And we will come out this way(I know you shouldn’t start a sentence with and) again.
