Specialties
Handmade small-batch ice cream, locally made and sourced.
History
Established in 2004.
We all have a calling.
Ours happens to be ice cream.
Lisa stumbled upon an artisan ice cream void in Portland, Oregon. Her solution? Fill it with distinctly original and extraordinarily delicious all-natural ice cream sandwiches. Trained as a chef and invigorated from a skiing adventure in Colorado (where her pristine winter retreat — a yurt — was named «Ruby Jewel»), Lisa was ready for action. After countless late nights churning out batch after batch of cookies and ice cream, Ruby Jewel was born. First staring on the Food Network’s Recipes For Success and then the Cooking Channel’s FoodCrafted, the frozen treats quickly garnered a loyal following that has grown from Oregon to New York City, from Hawaii to the Bahamas.
True to our Portland roots, we opened Ruby Jewel Scoops on North Mississippi Avenue in 2010 and on Southwest 12th Avenue in 2012 serving ice cream sandwiches, sundaes, and scoops of every flavor.

We all have a calling. Ours happens to be ice cream.
In 2004, Lisa stumbled upon an artisan ice cream void in Portland, Oregon. Her solution? Fill it with extraordinarily delicious and distinctly original ice cream sandwiches. After countless late nights churning out batch after batch of cookies and ice cream, Ruby Jewel was born. Lisa sold the first Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwiches out of a cooler at Portland farmers markets and the treats quickly garnered a loyal following — you can now find Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwiches in grocery stores from Alaska to Los Angeles. Though Ruby Jewel has received national attention, appearing on the Food Network and in Oprah Magazine, all Ruby Jewel ice cream continues to be carefully hand-crafted daily in our North Portland kitchen.
Committed to supporting the local community and economy, Ruby Jewel uses only the best ingredients thoughtfully sourced from farmers and food producers in Oregon and around the Northwest.
