Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider Taproom

This was a great place to stop for a no-​frills drink. I sampled three ciders, and each was interesting and delicious. There was a winter cherry cider that was particularly intriguing. They also seem to have frequent events such as live music. I’ll definitely be back!

Good stuff — especially the two seasonal cider offerings.

This is where you get the best cider made in PDX and possibly some of the best to be found anywhere. The small taptoom attached to the brewery makes for an intimate time. Limited hours but worth seeking this spot out.

$ 27 dollars for a flight of 12 tasters is pretty pricey in my opinion. And, to be honest, we liked maybe 3 of the 12. The Hallelujah Hopricot, Revival Hard Apple and CCU Winter were our favorites. A majority of the ciders had a really funky flavor so if you are into that, you might really like it. For me, this is one of those places that I go once, but won’t go back.

This was a great place to stop in and get a cider taster with a couple of English friends who were visiting portland for only two hours on their two week holiday. Only thing is, I wish dogs were welcome inside, as there is not food served and my very well behaved golden retrievers had to sit outside the garage door while we sat inside (there is no outdoor seating).

I admit that going to a bar to see your ex whom you are ready to throttle might not place a person in a generous state of mind — but still this place sucked.
The cider was sweet and nasty tasting like cider cough syrup, the bartender was surly, and the place closed too early. The atmosphere is that this bar is way cooler than you are.
I might give it another chance since I genuinely love cider and would like to like this place. Not so far.

Smaller than I expected, but a fantastic selection of cider in a very welcoming environment. It’s a little off the beaten path, in a more industrial hidden area, but Pine State is nearby! :)
Good prices for flights and fun cider based cocktails. Staff was awesome. I will be returning soon!

I used to hate ciders, but Reverend Nat changed my mind. I originally tried their Tepache! at the Convention Center at a beer festival, and since then I’ve been converted. Tons of different flavors (I personally love the Hopricot and Tepache. Both flavors are also found at stores like New Seasons and Whole Foods. Prices are about $ 6 a bottle) and they normally have 2 beers for people who don’t like ciders. Bike parking is available.
They always have friendly staff and a huge selection. Selection always seems to be rotating.
Main downsides to Rev Nat’s:
1) Not much seating with only 1 table in the entire place. Wouldn’t recommend this place if you travel in groups. On the plus side, because it can only hold a small amount of people you always get great service.
2) No food is served here, so don’t expect dinner and drinks at this place. On the other hand, within the same building is a place to eat.
Maybe there aren’t any downsides to Rev Nat’s.

Wandered here after an indulgent meal at Pine State nearby. This is a really casual (aren’t they all in Portland???) taproom with lots of amazing cider on tap. Lots of different size glasses to customize what you want.

The passion fruit cider was decently good, as well as the standard apple cider. But I’ve had much better ciders in France, big difference of quality.
At $ 15 for tasting 6 4-​oz ciders (and $ 27 for all 12 ciders) it’s definitely not cheap. Only some ciders are interesting, most are not that great.
Some ciders cannot be tested as part of the $ 15 testing tray of 6 ciders.

I’m a beer snob, but I like cider. In fact, I love Reverend Nat’s Cider, and wanted to check out their taproom. I was pretty disappointed…
They’re running sample sized pours for $ ²⁄₃ and 8oz pours for like $ ⁵⁄₆. Cool if you’re just there to taste, but a few drinks adds up really fast.
On top of that, the place is pretty tiny and super warm on a hot day.
Great cider, but not necessary to pick it up at the source. (Also, the Tepache is awesome)

Insane amount of ciders on tap. Really nice bartenders. Get the taster trays for a fun experience with a buddy!
My fav: Tepache mixed with any of the mild apple/​pear ciders. Yesssssss, perfect for a hot, summer day.

Huge selection of ciders, of which you can try all of them for $ 22! The cider with passion fruit juice was a standout (though much much more tart than I was expecting) as well as the tepache (semi-​sweet made with pineapples!) — I’m also pleased to see Rev. Nat’s in many more taprooms in Portland and in Washington!
I’m knocking off one star because an employee was a teensy bit pretentious about their cider. The overall atmosphere was very laid back and welcoming, but he was a bit annoying.

Despite the fantastic ciders I have to write this review. Rev. nat’s had a cider fest event today with signs on the street drawing you in and the whole block cordoned off. looked great at 8:30! when purchasing tokens they failed to mention they would not be open until 11 as their hours state. by 9:50 they were all but kicking people out and said the taps were closed. when I asked the bartender what to do with my remaining tokens, he said tough luck and claimed they were «clearly advertised» as only being open until 10. in fact they were not at all advertised as having shortened hours AND no one bothered to tell us when we walked in off the street to enjoy the festivities. he was a real asshole about it and that was completely unnecessary. frankly I won’t be back because of the horrible service.

This was a really fun thing to checkout. You can try all of their ciders/​brews for 22 $ bucks and each one is completely different. The only downside is no food or snacks to have along with em so eat before you go!
We loved the traditional cider, the tepache and the Anjou pear especially. :)!

Tried the Tepache & cider combo and was hooked on the spot. I’ve only recently been introduced to good cider (the dry stuff!!). However, I’m convinced that one stop at Reverend Nat’s will convert most. I cannot wait to go back and try some more. :)
They’ve recently added another bar to sit at, so there’s plenty of room for all. So if you’re in the neighbourhood stop by and try some quality cider — you definitely won’t regret it (or drink any more of that sweeter than sweet cider you get at the supermarked!!).

A nice room for sampling and buying some of their very tasty cider, I love the Revival and Hopricot in particular. Only seats about 8 though so if you want to chill I’d be careful to go by on slower hours. They do growler fills so that’s what I came by for and I’m glad I did as will be my dinner guests.

Amazing cider, great staff, comfy taproom.
Dunno what more you can ask from a place.
Don’t serve food but can bring it in from anywhere else to eat while you drink, HUGE plus!

I’m a huge cider fan, and there’s plenty of that at this taproom.
For first-​timers, I’d recommend a «flight» of ciders (six of them for $ 8; flight of 12 for $ 16) to get a more complete tasting experience.
Their flagship cider is Hallejujah Hopricot, made with apricot juice. There’s even a watermelon cider that was made available this past summer.
The panda already knew what he was getting, though.
Tepache is a Mexican pineapple drink. Reverend Nat’s makes their own and bottles it.
So what do I get? Spicy Hot Tepache — because it’s made with ghost peppers. A few sips and I was sold. Great refreshing flavor, with a slight kick.
You should be able to find bottles of Reverend Nat’s cider up and down the West Coast.

Dear Mr. Reverend Nat, I do believe you are doing the Lord’s Work here.
I love 100% of everything about these ciders. And the last few years in Portlandia, we’ve seen a boom in the cider biz. I believe I have tried them all. ALL. At various cider festivals, events, and countless taster trays around town.
These ones, though, are the best.
Pippin. My personal favorite, with his tepache a close second, after I tried it at Mi Mero Mole during its Cinco de Mayo debut. You bet your bippy I was right up there in that tap room soon after for more.
The bar at the taproom is more like a cove, seats just a few people, but do go visit the Reverend some time and let him pour you a flight of his favorites, they’re all delicious. No sugar bombs here, either. They’re so good because they’re on the drier side with lower sweetness. Olé!
