reFORM Pilates & Movement

reForm Pilates studio is wonderful. The teachers are great and make everything feel personalized to your individual body and needs. They have an excellent variety of options: from private reformer sessions to belly dancing and barre classes, reForm has something for everyone at every price point. They renovated recently and the expansion is beautiful! Lots of light and brand new equipment. Couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Before starting Pilates June of last year (2014), my back/​shoulders/​hips/​neck were a mess. I’ve worked with Matt in private sessions since then to correct issues with my posture, flexibility, and stabilizing muscles. It has made a world of difference.
He’s a Pilates genius, sometimes it feels like torture but I always walk away from their amazing gym feeling taller and better equipped to take on my work day. Makes me wish I could have a private session every morning.

After over 10 years practicing Pilates and trying many studios around town, I continue to stand by my conviction that Reform is the best in town. The instructors are so good at what they do, they all have years of expertise and continue to learn and bring new techniques in, and the personalization and care they give to each workout is unprecedented. I feel like a taller, leaner, stronger, and more relaxed woman after every workout at Reform.

Very nice studio with a great vibe and plenty of equipment. I booked a couple sessions when traveling and they got back to me promptly and matched me with a great teacher.

I have been a reFORM client for almost ten years. In the first two years, my body became stronger and leaner, my posture improved, and I learned how to avoid injury. As I progressed and aged, I learned how to use the exercises to heal myself when I do suffer from back or hip pain. I keep coming back because of the quality of instruction, the variety of approaches that keep it interesting, and because there just isn’t a better Pilates studio in Portland.

I have worked out at other Pilates studios in Portland but never knew how satisfying and effective Pilates could be until I found Reform Pilates and Movement.
Upon completing my first Reform workout, I immediately felt a difference. Reform instructors are much more focused, attentive and communicative than my past instructors. These qualities not only create great results, but keep me coming back two times every week for more.
I am now surprised to find myself in the best shape of my life!

I have been going to reForm Pilates for four years… the longest time I have EVER stayed with an exercise program. When I started I wasn’t sure I even had a core much less how to improve it. But over the years I have not only discover my core but learned how to strengthen it and use this knowledge to assuage back pain and improve my posture. All of this in an environment that is welcoming, totally non-​competitive (a big deal for me) encouraging and supportive. FYI I am well into my sixth decade… if I can be successful here what ARE you waiting for?

I was suffering from moderate/​severe fibromyalgia and depression when I started private sessions with Teresa. I recovered from two surgeries with her as my rock and now I am off all pain medications; despite going from being a student to a very physical full– time job. I have been getting training from the other owners and staff for about 8 months and it is always a very positive and demanding experience. Reform has revolutionized my existence!

Instructors know the intricacies of the body and how it moves. Even in trios they provide tailored feedback to individuals, keeping in mind weaknesses and injuries. Workouts have been fun, challenging, and versatile. I feel stronger after each one. I also enjoy the mat classes as a compliment to the reformer/​chair exercises.

These guys are the greatest. Caring, responsive, thoughtful, careful. All of their instructors are extremely knowledgeable and take a real interest in your progress and health. I love spending time with the reFORM crew.

I love this place. I started coming on the recommendation of my doctor back in April. It was my first experience with Pilates. The instructors at reForm are great. They are explanatory and great at teaching a newbie like me. Over the last 6 months I have learned a ton and even got my husband to join in the fun. Matt did a great job introducing him to the ropes and he is hooked now too! I strongly recommend reForm if you love Pilates or are interested in trying it!

I am addicted.
I have been having back problems since December, I went to a chiro, then physical therapy. My PT suggested that I try Pilates to strengthen my core (god knows I need it). I looked on Unilocal and found this place right next door.
I signed up for the introductory private sessions, after my first one I was exhausted and slept better than I have in years. The next day I was sore in places that I didn’t know existed before but I felt great. I have since been back 6 more times and signed up for a lot more private sessions… I LOVE it. This is the only exercise I have ever enjoyed. It’s no impact and really teaches you about your muscles and makes you very aware… my body is changing in a good way and I feel really good.
If you are looking for a place for Pilates, I recommend this place, the staff is great and very accommodating to schedules.

Have you ever tried pilates? It looks so easy and low-​key and then you give it a try. All of a sudden you feel muscles that you didn’t know you had and your posture improves, your energy improves and your attitude improves. The folks at ReFORM Pilates are awesome, it was a good studio before but when the instructors bought the place from the owner it got even better! I have a number of sports-​related injuries and, although I knew that I was compensating for them, I have found strength returning to the injured areas after years of working around them. Exercise has never been this much fun and I have to admit that I look forward to pilates. Do yourself a favor though, mat classes seem like a good way to give pilates a try but it is THE HARDEST introduction, the equipment helps you to find and engage the muscle groups you need for the mat classes. Start with equipment sessions and fill in with mat classes.

Jessica is a complete nerd when it comes to the body and movement and I LOVE it! You want your trainer, your doctor, your coach to be a nerd and so passionate about their skills and profession that they can’t help but teach, shape and change you.
I love Reform Pilates and all the instructors at Reform that Jessica sees.

Reform is a gorgeous new facility, with excellent instructors and a really fantastic fee structure, which rewards you if you practice more. I worked with Kelli, who was amazing and helped me understand the way I use different muscles which I had never realized before. If you go, ask for Kelli!
