Pumpkin Patch

I love the farmers market. We live close and go every Sunday, it’s better to go early in October, due to the crowds of families for pumpkins for Halloween. Love it.

Three stars because even with the gross food, the pumpkin patch was awesome and overall the vibe was great.
However…the animal barn was HORRID. Animals had enough water but not enough space. Really uncool to keep animals in areas where they have barely enough room to move. That is NOT GOOD AT ALL. THAT IS TERRIBLE.

Great maze with lots of options for types of clues to help you get through. They also have a great store with lots of fresh veggies and fun food. We had a great time there and would definitely go again!

I try to do most of my fruit & veggi shopping here during the growing season because it’s clearly marked if it’s locally grown & cheaper than the big grocery stores.
I avoid it like the plague on the weekends during the Halloween rush.
This past fall they didn’t seem to have the same variety, my choices seemed limited but maybe that was just me. I hope that changes next fall.

One of my favorite pumpkin patches! It’s very important for me to actually go into a PATCH. Not just grass with pumpkins thrown about, but to actually go out into the vines, where the pumpkins grow. This is what I want, and this is what this place delivers.
I’m also a sucker for shopping, so I love the farm store. Lots of fresh produce and goods to choose from. They have these mini pies, and I swear, the raspberry rhubarb is the best pie I’ve ever had. In my life. That’s saying something.
They also have a cute little gift shop and plenty of food stuffs to choose from. Always gotta roll out of there with a caramel apple and kettle corn! Their prices are good, the selection is great, and I love the hay ride. There’s also an animal barn for the kiddos (who am I kidding, I like it too).
Sauvie Island is beautiful, and I love any excuse to come out here!

A nightmarish experience trying to leave this pumpkin patch yesterday. We got into our car to leave at 4:30 and didn’t make it out of the parking lot until 6:30…yes, it took 2 hours to exit a Costco-​sized parking lot. And then another 40 minutes to get off the island. There was no one directing traffic at the pumpkin patch until we had been waiting in the exact same spot for over an hour. People were begging/​harassing the poor guy whose job it was to pick up trash in the parking lot. It was a stressful situation and a safety hazard. As for the pumpkins, they were pretty picked over and there were quite a few moldy ones. Be warned — this place can not accommodate large holiday crowds. I think I’d be much happier getting my pumpkins at Safeway next year.

friendly, fresh, and they actually grow the majority of produce they sell. as island residents, we drove right past the other «farm market» (that gets most produce shipped in like any other market) to go to the Pumpkin Patch.
and receiving one star ratings because the whole island was entirely over populated on a crazy weekend hardly seems fair.

This was the epitome of a wasted day. The Pumpkin Patch is fine, if you can get to it. We went on a Sunday morning two weeks before Halloween and traffic getting on and off the island is a nightmare. The 1.5 mile drive from the farm to the bridge took literally over an hour both ways. Most of the pumpkins in the field were rotten and the farm itself doesn’t offer anything that any other pumpkin patch wouldn’t. Will not be returning next year, or ever. There are plenty of other area farms and pumpkin patches that offer similar amenities. Not worth the wasted time in the car. Avoid the hassle.

This pumpkin patch was nothing special and felt like a wasted day. It took 2 hours to get to this pumpkin patch when it should have taken 20 minutes. Parking was impossible to find. The pumpkins are very over priced but fortunately the person collecting my money couldn’t do math so I ended up only paying 6 $ for two medium sized pumpkins. Then when it was time to leave, the parking lot was a disaster. The farm needs to have more than one person directing traffic. People were driving over cones and through ropes in order to cut people off and get out a few minutes faster. It took me an hour and a half just to get out of the parking lot! Basically a trip that I wanted to take 2 hours ended up taking 5 hours. Huge waste of time for a very unsatisfactory pumpkin patch. I would NOT recommend this place unless you want to sit in traffic for hours and hours.

The Pumpkin Patch was a fun experience but in the end came off as commercial and somewhat impersonal. Our experience happened on a late Sunday morning. Parking was easy, although we did have to walk a bit. Not a big deal.
The first thing we checked out was the Animal Barn. I was disappointment to find out this wasn’t a petting experience, although I suppose this is probably better for the animals in the end anyways. Not too much to see here. The pheasants were the most exciting part. Other animals included chickens, peacocks, a cow, etc.
Next my niece paid $ 4 for an elephant ear that probably cost $ 0.25 to make. It was greasy and overall not a standout elephant ear in any way. However, it was prepared fresh and came out quickly.
Next it was time for corn on the cob… yum. Another heavily marked up item. The most terrifying part was the big globs of butter available to put on the corn. Everyone touches the handles provided to apply butter, then touches the salt, then touches the corn. Talk about public health… yikes. The corn was delicious and perfectly cooked. The employees were very friendly too.
Time to check out the marketplace! What a wonderfully inviting store. They had pumpkin carving supplies, jellies, wooden block letters, and lots of produce. However, I saw nothing organic. I then asked about the corn and was told it was all GMO. Blah. There did have enormous cabbage, which was visually interesting, but I didn’t buy anything due to the lack of organic options.
Alright, here we go… the pumpkin patch! We waited in line for about 10 minutes to hop on the hay ride. It was kinda fun… probably worth it. Riding out I was excited to run to the very back of the field to find the very best pumpkins. Trekking out the the back of the patch were the pumpkins were still on the vine was a good decision. There were prime pumpkins out there. I found two perfect ones I couldn’t decide between and ended up buying both (medium-sized…only $ 3 each). Worth going out to the back to find the good ones.
We easily hopped on the hayride back and paid upon disembarking (cash only). Needing some more cash we took a trip to the ATM. Terrible experience. $ 4 charge and it didn’t even work correctly during the first attempt at a transaction. Best to plan on bringing cash before you arrive here.
Looked at the gift shop. Nice, but didn’t find anything to purchase.
In the end it was a fun time, but really no reason to return, except for maybe those perfect pumpkins. Everything else was too commercial, unhealthy, and GMO. I made a joke that they next thing they should put in should be a Healthy Eating Education Booth to offset some of the food here. Honestly you’ll find me down the road at Bella, where they have organics and berry wine.

I’ve been to several of these since moving to Oregon and this was by far the best! The cheapest too… The patch you get your pumpkin from is where they are actually growing! Your not picking for a bunch of pumpkins that were dumped in a grassy field. Great food and super helpful staff. They also offered u-​pick flowers! I’m a picky broad and I loved this place :) Its great also for those who are looking for a more adult visit. There are totally things there for kids but unlike other farms I’ve been too… they aren’t running around screaming and crying everywhere.

Hands down five stars. I’ve been meaning to write good review on this place. My daughter loves the free barn yard show, the food at the burger stand is pretty good, service is excellent. Produce is always fresh and reasonably priced. I love the gift shop, great original items at a great price, I buy most of my gifts for family there and the main lady who runs the shop is very nice. Too bad Bella farms down the road tries to take away business from the Pumpkin Patch, they don’t even compare. Also, the haunted Maze is well worth the price, safe and always fun.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! My family visits The Pumpkin Patch every week or two this time of year. This last time I bought a bunch of squash, a couple of tiny pumpkins and some habanero salsa. (wish you had Ghost Pepper salsa, but that’s ok) Everything is very yummy and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Keep up the great work guys!!!

I love everything about this place!
Fresh produce market with very reasonable prices (far less than supermarkets). Or go out to into the fields and do u-​pick.
Walk through the free barn of animals. They have chickens, ducks, rabbits, pheasants, peacocks/​peahens, emus, a llama, and more.
In the fall, it’s a fun place to go for pumpkins, hay rides and of course the famous corn maze.
Less than 15 minutes from downtown Portland this is a wonderful place to enjoy with friends and/​or family, or even alone.

I think A LOT of people mistake Bella Organics for The Pumpkin Patch. I went to Bella last year, it failed in comparison to here! I loved this place the year before and hugely regretted going to Bella just because they had a groupon. I’ve NEVER seen a groupon for here.
The maize is always well designed and of course it’s going to be muddy, that’s why you should come prepared for cold and mud. If you don’t like mud, don’t come to a farm.
The market is fantastic! And there’s a great selection of pumpkins whether you choose to pick out your own or pick one out from ones they’ve pulled from the farm.
All in all, I love this place, brings great nostalgia.

I’ve only been here a few times (always for the maze) I loved it! So much local fun, even if it’s gross, mucky, & raining. Always wear rain boots! This is the one thing I do every year & love it, because it gets me in the fall, Then I get all excited because the holiday season is right around the corner.
The corn maze is so much fun. I love their produce you can purchase. They have so much fun stuff to buy from local places. I the most amazing apple cider, & caramels. Both were from local farms they sold here. This is probably one of the best corn mazes around Portland & Vancouver!

We’ve been here for the maze and now for u-​pick strawberries.
Corn maze is corn maze. You’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all. So this review is strictly based on u-​picks.
We went for strawberries and were pretty disappointed. Small, very poorly managed field near the bard with small plants and more weeds than berries. Lots and lots of moldy, small berries.
I get it, you are paying less to do the work yourself. But just seems poorly managed. The girls in the produce stand were nice enough. You get charged for the weight of whatever container you pick in, so be aware. If you chose a larger box than the amount of berries, that’s being figured in.
We may come back and pick again, just with a different expectation. Or we may find one of any number of other places on Sauvie’s to pick at.

I admit I’ve never picked/​purchased a pumpkin here, but that aside, if you’re willing to go out to Sauvie Island, it’s a pretty GREAT PLACE to do a ton of U-​Pick fruits!!!
Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, peaches, marionberries, and even veggies are all available during their respective season… U-​pick prices are competitive with other farms in the area, and they have a nice big barn full of pre-​picked, fresh, mostly-​local fruits and veggies for those that don’t want to venture out and experience the joy of working the land and picking what you eat. Oh yeah, and in case you didn’t plan ahead and bring your own u-​pick boxes, they usually have free ones, as well as newer/​fancier boxes for purchase.
I did the corn maze a couple years ago and it was pretty fun, but it’s not enough to compel me to go every year. I at least recommend you do it and/​or take your kids at least once if you’ve never been before.
Come here for U-​Pick stuff and I doubt you’ll regret it. If you find a farm that’s better, let me know and I’d be happy to give them a try! :-)

Got lucky with the weather last weekend and spent the afternoon at the Pumpkin Patch in the warm autumn sun. We were surprised but glad that it wasn’t overly crowded. Got lost in the maze, caught a hay ride, picked a pumpkin, and ate fresh kettle corn. It was a perfect afternoon.
The store at the Pumpkin Patch is one of the best priced one on the island. It’s a short drive for me to get to Sauvie’s Island and I love getting fresh produce from the Pumpkin Patch store. Beats any farmer’s market in town.
The sweet corn I bought last weekend were very yummy and delicious. I love the fresh seasonal veggies they offer and definitely like to keep it local!
If you’re out at Sauvie’s Island for any reason– bring a big bag and shop at the Pumpkin Patch.

I probably been going there for the last 3 years. I love how they change the maze. However the trivias that help you through the maze haven’t. I vaguely remember them like dejavu. great family time although try not to let your kids run off… you really could get lost in there!
Other than maze, they also sell local produce, got festival like foods (elephant ears. etc), petting zoo for little ones, pumpkins, and little cow trains. Lots of fun fall activities.
tips for you guys :)
* wear rain boots or shoe that you don’t care about. even if you go there on a sunny day… the place is either dusty or muddy.
* bring cash. most vendors are cash only. they do have atm there.
* pups are allowed. :)
* during high season (closer to halloween) the traffic can get pretty bad. although you may have to park far, finding a spot isn’t a problem.
Highly recommended for some pre-​halloween autumn fun.
