Mr .Taxi PDX

I reserved a 4:30am cab to get to the airport. Thank goodness my neighbor was awake or I would have missed my grandfathers funeral. The cab never showed. They never called either… even after I called and left a voicemail. When I made the reservation the person on the phone said they are always on time and asked me to please leave a review.

Called 30 minutes before and they were there right on time. Clean cab and very friendly.

Unreliable. I called Mr Taxi the night before leaving for the airport. He never showed up. No one answered my call that morning. I had to make last minute arrangements with another company and was late. I should have read the reviews more carefully. A lot of vague five star reviews and specific one star…

Mr. Taxi saved the day. .. twice. During my stay in Portland, my brother had to leave the city earlier than the rest of our family. I called Mr. taxi the night before and he was right on time early the next morning. My brother is military so it’s important that he got back on time. When my sister and I needed to fly back home Tom picked us and was on time again even though it was about 3:00am. He’s nice, quick, and reliable. I’ll call him again the next time I am in town for sure.

I called the day before my flight to schedule a 4:30am pick up to take me to the airport, and clearly gave my address. The guy that answered seemed to understand the timing and address, and I confirmed that he had my number. The day of pick up he called at 4:20am and I reminded him I needed to be picked up at 4:30. At 4:35 I called and he said he had taken a wrong turn, but evaded my question when I asked when he would arrive. At 4:40 my brother offered to take me to the airport. At 4:50am I got another call from the taxi guy and I’m not entirely sure what he even said to me. I told him I no longer needed him as I was supposed to leave twenty minutes ago. He apologized and hung up.
He was at least twenty minutes late to picking me up for something as important as getting to the airport. I have no idea when he would have actually arrived but I’m certain I would not have made it to my flight. Communication does not seem to be a strong point with this company, nor punctuality.

WTF, the guy calls a half hour before saying, «what’s your address again?» so I tell him and confirm that he’s going to pick me up on time. Then they guy calls saying he’s at my address but I don’t see him, then he says I’m at address xxxx «SW» portland I tell him it’s xxxx «NW», but hey it’s only 8 min drive so maybe it’s no problem but 20 min later he hasn’t shown up and I’m calling him no answer! Finally i called another cab company, the picked me up 10min later but by this time it was too late. Flight missed, $ 260 to change my flight, and not making it to see my friends for dinner. Don’t use this company if you have a plane to catch. It could be an expensive mistake.

Hmmm a lot of 5-​star reviews from users with very few write-​ups… I don’t want to say they’re fraudulent but this is not a 5-​star company. I’ve used them twice based on this site and I wont be fooled again.
First, they didn’t answer the phone either time. They called back 90 seconds later when I was ringing a new number.
Second, there is some major language difficulties going on here. I tend to think I speak clear enough to be understood verbally (after all the Pizzas I have delivered always arrive OK), but the first time the dispatcher asked me to text him the address, and he’d call me back; the second time the driver called me three different times to ask where my housing street was, and finally said he was close.
We waited outside for 25 minutes before he showed up. The car was filthy, and my friend said he didn’t notice a license posted.
This company could improve with just a few changes.
1. Get a professional dispatcher that answers the phone and speaks clearly. Have Google maps ready and input the address the caller gives them, confirming they heard you correctly. Put the location of the cab that will respond in the directions and give the caller the estimated time of arrival.
2. Keep the vehicles clean and in fully working order.
In the meantime I’m going to find a new cab company to call for pick ups. I just don’t know which one, it seems all of them in this city have their detractors…

My sister was stranded in the middle of nowhere in Oregon with no cell phone or wallet, Mr Taxi was kind enough to pick her up and take her home. He accepted payment over the phone from LA when no one else would! He is a life saver, called me when he picked her up and when he dropped her off!

We used Mr. Taxi for R/​T service from PDX to Salem.
$ 150 each way
The first car was a very old Mercedes 500 series. It had seen better days. The AC was broken (and it happened to be 85 and humid in Portland that day) so we drove for 1.5 hours with the windows down. NOT ACCEPTABLE
The second car was a very old Town Car. It was beat up on the outside and had a «tramp stamp style tattoo» sticker on the back. The inside smelled but the AC worked.
I will not use this service again.

I called this service at midnight the night/​morning before my bf and I 6:30am flight out of PDX. The man who I spoke with over the phone was very pleasant and sounded happy for my business — something that is always awesome whenever you spend money on anything, it made me feel like I already was making the right decision in using Mr Taxi.
The cab called 20 minutes earlier than the scheduled pickup to confirm, which is very comforting when its early and you have a flight to catch, and he arrived 10 minutes later, early for the pickup, just to make sure.
The driver was very friendly and we enjoyed the ride. The car interior was clean and comfortable. I definitely recommend this company for getting to the airport. Thanks!

I have had bad experiences with every cab company in Portland, and unfortunately this one was no different.
First of all, the operator didn’t speak English very well; normally that’s not something I mind, but he didn’t understand my address the first time and had to call back. If he had asked me to spell the street in the first place, it could have been easily resolved.
The taxi I ordered (40 min ahead) still arrived fifteen minutes late. That is just not okay when you’re heading to the airport. I saw the cab drive by my house once without stopping and assumed it would turn around and come back. When it didn’t reappear, I went outside to look for it and saw it stopped at another house on the street, obscured by a hedge so I couldn’t see it from my house.
The driver wasn’t familiar with the area, which is fine, but he didn’t have a GPS and was using his smart phone for directions. I don’t really feel safe when someone is looking at their phone while driving so I ended up giving him directions half the time instead. It seems like the cab company should invest in decent GPS units for their drivers.
The driver was polite enough, but it didn’t make up for arriving so late and not even finding the right house.

I called Mr Taxi tonight because my boyfriend fell asleep so I had no way to get home. The man who answered the phone was so nice and patient with me. I even gave him the wrong street but he just called me back several minutes later to tell me he couldn’t find it.
Then my boyfriend woke up and said he’d come get me and that a taxi would be way too expensive. I felt really bad about having to tell the mr taxi man that I didn’t need him to come the 45 minutes to get me. Immediately he was like «oh that’s okay, you’re boyfriend will get you home safely? That’s all that”s important.» He had even begun the journey to come pick me up.

I called them three times. The guy twice told me «5 minutes.» No one ever came. I waited 40 minutes on the street — and I was sick and it was getting very cold. To leave a woman just standing on the street like that and never show up is unbelievable. I had to call my friend to come get me, and he did.

Mr. Taxi is aweomse. Very friendly, on time, and cheaper than the others. I have used him to and from PDX and he was kind enough to call me when I landed to let me know he was outside waiting. Great guy!

What fantastic service! Mr. Taxi picked me up at 4:30am without a grumble or groan. My towncar was lovely and the driver was so courteous and friendly that I completely forgot about the ungodly hour that it was.
On top of the service, the price was very good. I live only a few miles from the airport and Mr. Taxi charged me a fair rate for the distance. I absolutely will use Mr. taxi again.

We needed a ride to the airport and the taxi was exactly on time. Our driver was courteous and friendly. He helped us with our bags and took us on the most direct route to the airport. In a time when excellent service is a rarity, they provided it.

I live in SE Portland and I needed to be at the airport for 04:30. I saw that this company had great reviews, so I called them up. I told the guy I needed to be picked up at 04:00 and the rate was $ 40. I went to sleep, woke up, took a shower, and called him to make sure he was on his way. He arrived at my house at precisely 04:00. The driver was very nice and gregarious. The vehicle was clean and presentable.

Very good service! !!my plane was 3 hours late but He still waited for us and had a flat rate!!!
