Motel 6 Portland Downtown

The rude guy with the eyelashes has no home training if I could give no stars I would because I just witnessed him throw bags at the housekeeper like she was trash lets just say he’s lucky I was calm enough to not give a Cali tongue lashing!

Room 207 had bed bugs and a razor blade in my window seal. wouldn’t reimburse money moved me to a different room. The advertise movie channels they don’t have and channels with no audio on the tv. place is a dive just like the city of Portland.

I travel a lot and stay in a lot of «cheep» hotels… Although I spend over $ 100 mid week off season for a room for 3… If there was the option to leave half a star or less… I would have… The room was old and gross… The phone did not work, the batteries were taped into the Chanel changer that did not not work and the sink and tub did not drain… We did have clean but old towels… Good thing– public transportation train stops into the center of the city were close… bad news is they rattled by every 10 minutes late into the night and super early in the morning… The only saving grace is that the roof did not leak (although it did not rain) and it appeared to bug free… (Hopefully)… We will see… Staff was helpful and accommodating but we’re unable to fix any of the broken issues during our stay… Great café across the street though…:-)

If only there was less than a star. Gross carpet, insanely dated bedding (had a little blood on the underside, awesome). It smelled sooooo bad, smoke and musty. The trolley/​train thing goes by and shakes the whole place every 10 minutes.
Sometimes you just have to stay the night anyways

Only stay here if you are on a tight budget. It’s pretty basic. Bed and bathroom were clean enough but the carpet was black with wear and the furniture was falling apart and didn’t even fit in the room. We arrived to find the housekeeping staff having a little end of shift party in our room but they were quick to clean up their empty beer cans and move along.. you just get what you pay for I guess.
Good for city centre access on foot and plenty of parking

I stayed here because honestly it was the cheapest and closest hotel to the convention center. I made the mistake of registering for a convention too late and found hotels in the area running minimum $ 200 up to $ 600 a night during the convention. It was ridiculous… even though my company was paying for it I felt bad so I chose motel 6.
The best thing this hotel has going for it is location… aside from that it is really a shit hole. My room was tucked in the corner so it was supposedly quiet, but I had trouble connecting to wifi. I had to go outside my room to connect and then it would drop out all the time. I did find that taking my phone out of the case helped with the wifi.
The bed… dear god I have had more comfort from sleeping on the ground. I don’t know if they ever changed the mattress since the hotel was built. The carpet was so dirty my feet would leave black marks in the shower. The bathroom was about the size of my coat closet at home.
Mattress cover had a burned hole from cigarette and the sheets had some stains. Let’s just say I slept with my clothes on… including socks. At least the AC unit was working well, but very noisy! Thank goodness I brought my ear plugs.
The manager interaction was interesting. I believe he was the owner. I went to the office to get change for the soda machine (I only had a $ 20). The first words out of his mouth were, «I hope you don’t need a towel.» After that he was a little more jovial… I guess people like to steal towels? Don’t know why… they are stained.
It seems the owner puts just enough money into the place to keep it running. Aside from that, everything else is spared.
It functioned, but if you want any form look at another hotel. If you are attending a convention book early!

As I had a good experience in Motel 6 Anaheim, I safely decided to book in another trip. My overall experience was very bad because:
1. The bed was terrible and the matress has a big hole as I have never seen in any other hostel, motel or hotel. Also the furniture was too old, the image of the television very bad and the air coditioning too noisy.
2. Every time I took a shower there were a lot of water on the restroom floor and even on the room’s carpet.
3. For the three days I booked, in one I did not have room serivce apparently with no reason and when I requested towels and soap bars, one of the two towls given me was dirty with brown spots.
4. The wifi conection did not reach my room.
5. I had problem with key card not working twice.
6. My room was near a corner between two busy streets. Besides the noise of buses and trolleys once there was a homeless on the motel hall near my room.
7. I am a non smoker and agreed to stay in a smoker room as there was not another option availble. Even though I recommed to better clean the room as all my clothes were smelling nicotine after three days on the room.
8. The name shows «downtown» but the location is not so close to be reached by walking to or from downtown Portland. This information shoud not be highlighted on the motel name.

Terrible. The room is dilapidated. There was no parking for my staff or me. The customer service was miserable from the middle aged employees. The younger man who started work around 3:30pm was willing to at least TRY to help us solve the parking issue. The room smelled. Several items were broken in the room. There was still trash in the room when I checked in. Never again.

Do not go there unless you are desperate. especially with kids! My daughter actually found a heroine spoon in the room and the manager would not move us to another room nor give us our money back! This place is very very gross. Even before my 10 year old found the drug spoon. the room smelled really bad and the floors were wet. This place is super gross. Don’t go there. period!

Ick. The room stank of BO and cigarettes. The bed was more of a bowl. I was going to give one but threw and extra star in there for being under $ 100 and available last minute on labor day weekend.

Let’s put it this way. 5 gallon buckets as used ash trays outside each door, grimey rooms, hardly enough parking (now I have to wake up early to go put money in a meter, or move my car) because I had to park my car 2 blocks away on the street), and one I was really surprised about; they don’t offer an iron or ironing board at all. First time I’ve run into this. How am I supposed to iron my clothes I travel with for business meetings? I travel for work as well as fun, have stayed at a few cheaper hotels in the past, but this is by far the worst in a long, long time.
Management was short and purse, didn’t seem to care. They should at least let people know they can’t accommodate everyone’s parking, and lack of amenities.(too many to list, or I might be nit picking) ex: no alarm clock, WiFi is super slow and constantly disconnecting, to from 1995 with 12 channels., etc.
Will not be back, this hotel might be worth half the price I paid (60 a night) if you’re in a pinch.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in ! Huge holes with broken springs in the bed, stains on the mattress and linens. Got cussed out by management for asking a question, got walked in at 10am by cleaning people. Great location though !

Oof, what a bummer. After 10 (!) looong theorycraft-​filled hours of driving up from SF for a gaming tournament, my teammates and I navigate to the Portland Motel 6, looking forward to getting out of the car, and the manager wouldn’t honor our reservation from a month prior.
As far as I can tell, either (1) he somehow intentionally gave away our rooms because of the convention this weekend (all the hotels are packed — e.g., we were going to be happy to pay $ 100+/night for this Motel 6) or (2) got confused by the complicated situation and wanted to save face by denying we had a reservation. I would be okay with the latter (plus a substantial apology): people make mistakes, and the reservation was indeed complicated (we had a lot of back and forth since we had to coordinate 6 people), though we had hoped to mitigate that by the 45-​minute long phone conversation with him where everything seemed to be pleasantly settled.
Even the former would have been your run-​of-​the-​mill avarice.
But… being extremely rude /​yelling at my exhausted teammate in the parking lot should NEVER be acceptable. Seriously? (My teammate is so lawful good we call him «paladin» — if he’d wrangled with the misanthropic fire mage (me), it would have been a different story (and yes, I hope to pilot aggro/​burn tomorrow!).)
It’s a shame, because I go to Motel 6 all the time without issue (I like to think I’m low maintenance and not too old to kick it in a dive, plus, it’s cheap! More money for packs, amirite…). Luckily we knew a few other teams who here in town already and they bailed us out — we’re staying in a «grown-​up» hotel tonight and hope all of tomorrow is enough time to figure out our remaining nights’ situation. Sigh.

Ok, this is motel 6 and when I am going for a conference, I usually try to find the closest motel/​hotel to my destination and the most affordable. The front desk Latino guy (forgot his name) was helpful and friendly.
Motel 6 is Motel 6, so I expected it to be just «blah.» The water pressure in the bathroom was not good. There was dry blood on the bathroom wall (I didn’t notice it until my friend pointed it out.).
Perfect location from the airport to the hotel, TriMet transit stop was one block away. Now, even though having transportation close by might be a good thing, it is also a curse. The nights we stayed, (I am a light sleeper) the transit noise was loud. Did not sleep at all! I was so anxious and ready to leave because I figured I would probably have better luck sleeping on the plane!
Randomly, some guy was knocking at the door around 1 am, then there were «our neighbors» screaming and yelling, very obscene. We called the front desk, but not sure that they did anything. After 10 minutes the guy knocking at the door left, and about 1 hour later, the people in the next room shut up.
I’ve stayed at the Red Lion Hotel right across from Motel 6, it was okay for what its worth. This time around was overpriced for what I was willing to pay so this is how we ended up at the Motel 6.

It looked as though someone sat at the edge of the bed with no underwear on. No compensation for the poop stains on the sheets.
Corporate won’t do anything because it’s a franchise. Just ‘take a report’.

Disgusting. It would be over priced at $ 30. The owners/​managers have zero pride of ownership, and it shows. The smells are atrocious. Had to move the night stand (mistake) to find an outlet only to find old cigarette buds and trash. Slept with clothes on ~ filthy bed! 1980s TV. Burn holes. Electrical wires banging against the window ~ see pic. Worst Motel 6 ever. Manager has no business running any business, of any kind.

I wanted to like this place. Horrible late night service. Upset that I woke him up. Locked out of my room … Pathetic service … Sleep on the ground for free, you will find it far more rewarding

This is THE WORST Motel 6 I have ever stayed at. I’ve been on a road trip for about a month now, this is my fifth stay at a Motel 6 in the last month. This room is the most expensive room per night I have yet experienced, and BY FAR the trashiest.
The room smells like ferret pee. Ferret urine is a very specific smell and this room reeks of it. The heating/​air conditioning unit is by far the worst bit of technology in any hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. It is either searing hot, or freezing cold… which makes for an awful night’s sleep. There are no clothing hangers in the room. I’ve never stayed in a hotel that did not have clothing hangers in the room… so I had to slump my drenched raincoat over a chair, which made the carpet wet.
The place has a major problem with its key system. My key hasn’t worked properly since arriving. The manager got really annoyed that I was having a problem with my key and assumed that I was not doing something properly. He came to «assist» me with my key and discovered that the batteries that power the door lock are dying. He took my key and said he would be back in a few minutes with a new key and to fix my door. That was six hours ago… I’ve given up hope.

It’s a convenient location with a bed to sleep on and a place to shower without the worry of getting shanked hahaha
PROs:
* Convenient location! Near the Rose Garden, Burgerville, Red Robin, Denny’s, and about 10 blocks away from a Safeway
* They offer free coffee in the morning at the office.
* Decent television, mainly local channels plus ESPN, Food channel, and some others
* Free WiFi which had pretty decent speed. Ask the office for the password!
* Room was clean, it didn’t have any strange smells, and it came with a refrigerator.
* Solid amount of parking. Apparently ALL the rooms were booked and I was STILL able to snag a parking spot. Even if the lot was full, there were a couple extra street parking spots as well.
* Bathroom was typical. We took showers and baths and noticed that the hot water kept coming… meaning they have a pretty good sized water heater!
* Front desk employees were kind. Though I’ll admit I did not utilize them for anything other than checking in.
CONs:
* It isn’t the classiest of places. But c’mon… it’s a motel 6
* The bed had zero support. You lay down, and then you sink like a rock hahah
* It’s NOT the cheapest spot in the area. After doing some research online this was NOT the cheapest spot around. If I had researched a room further in advanced I probably would not have come here.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I was heading to Portland to watch a Blazers game. The only criteria I was looking for were: cheap and near the rose garden. To be honest I found cheaper rates at the Econolodge online. However they appeared all booked up. I tried to call a couple of the Econolodges only to get hold music for over 10 minutes. I hung up, called this Motel 6, and someone picked up immediately. I was disappointed that this place was a bit more expensive, but I was happy to see that we could walk to the majority of places we wanted to visit. It served its purpose well, I can’t complain.

I read reviews below, and was expecting the worst… but was pleasantly surprised.
The room was clean, it did not smell, and the bathroom was clean and big.
We had plenty of towels. We got room service the next day, which was not expected.
My friends stayed across the street and they did not get room service.
The gentleman at the front is not super friendly, but the cleaning staff is.
Yes, they only have soaps, no shampoo/​conditioner, but the biggest shopping center in Portland is an 8 minute walk away. Get some Bath&Body Works…
The MAX train is a 3 min walk away on both sides of the street.
How can you go wrong with that?
Free WiFi, but a bit slow.
The bed was really comfortable! my friend and I slept through the night.
No sore back, and we could not feel the other one move at all.
The pillows are not the best, but who cares? If you are out and about exploring the city, the food carts, the night life, you come back to motel to sleep only.
And sleep we did. (did not hear the train at night)
