Miss Portland Diner

Came here for a late breakfast on Saturday morning and it was everything you would want and expect from a diner! Friendly and fast service, and quintessential diner food. I loved my scrambled eggs and the home fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Finished my meal off with a slice of lemon coconut cake — perfection! Will definitely be back.

Great atmosphere great food is in the park always a seat available. Just a very good place to go with the family and eat good desserts great service.

I would be happy to visit this place every time I go to Portland. The food is solid, the place is clean, the staff is attentive. What more do you want when you are trying to sober up after a night of cards and alcohol?
The Irish Benedict rocks and so does the biscuits and gravy. The gravy is way helpful on the sobering up thing…

This cute little diner is way better than it seems from the looks of it! I happen to be pretty judgey when it comes to diners because I had a bad experience at one and I just am always skeptical about diners haha. Anyways this one blew me away. We went there after a race we ran at 7 in the morning! We got great seats and fast service. We both got the scrambles… sooooo good! They have a big selection for their scrambles and it is much appreciated when you are a hungry bear who just finished running a race at 7 in the morning. I can’t remember the name of it but the scramble with sausage and apple and onion in it is too good, I highly recommend it.

This place is the most underrated breakfast spot in town. Skip the entry area and hop up the steps to the diner cart seats. Better than s greasy spoon and just as charming, if not more. The breakfast burrito with Apple sausage is my staple but I’ve been very happy every time I’ve ventured away from that. Service is always wonderful to boot!

Have been to the Miss Portland for breakfast in the past, and have to say it was very good, high quality diner food, and who doesn’t love that. I read a review in the paper a while back that advised of a tasty Reuben. So of course as part of our Reuben quest (to find the best Reuben in Portland) we stopped in this past weekend for lunch.
I have to agree with the review from the paper… very good Reuben. Great marbled rye bread, not too toasted and not soggy (very important). Very tasty corned beef, nice swiss (on each side of the meat, maybe the secret to not being soggy). Right now it is #2 on our list (behind RiRa!)
If you like a good sandwich, cannot go wrong on this one.

The Miss Portland Diner is a quaint little place full of character. You can sit in the dining room or «upstairs» in the old car. I’ve been for both breakfast and lunch recently, and the food is very, very good. My grandma and I had their egg scrambles– mine was called «East End“and I think my grandma had the Greek. I was very happy with my choice. Today we went for lunch, and my grandma was surprised by the size of her salad– enough for leftovers! I enjoyed my sandwich and the accompanying cole slaw. The staff is friendly and accommodating to all our requests and needs. Even the bathrooms are clean and inviting. This little restaurant is a must-​see!

Had the creamy sausage on a biscuit and had to try their buttery pancakes;Beyond delicious. The dinner was inviting as it felt like southern comfort!

Weird but decent? I didn’t know about the parking and had grabbed a metered space out front, on busy Marginal Way. The outdoor seating and sunroom did look nice but I opted to eat in what was the original main part of the Worcester Diner car. It is cute and clean if you get one of the Old school waitresses, the younger girls definitely have a ‘when I get to it’ approach to bussing their tables. This makes for a relaxing atmosphere, and there seems to be a friendly chatty repoir with the kitchen. Since they preseason the homefries I opted for the ‘fresh cut’ french fries with Maine potatoes. For the $ 1 upcharge they shouldn’t have been twice cooked off and mushy. But they did have malt vinegar so I played nice. Eggs perfectly poached. Hollandaise very lemony, no pepper or heat whatsoever, and very little of it – a drizzle as you can see– and for $ 2.75 nope not gonna buy extra. And now, the corned beef hash, oft mentioned on the menu. It is homemade. The corned beef has terrific flavor but has been shredded to the point where it has the consistency of wet tuna fish. It is then mixed with very finely minced potatoes and… carrots? All that said, it tastes nice if you’re expecting a jar of gerber corned beef dinner; I don’t think I’d order it again but it was presented nicely and texture aside tasted fine. Also: I honestly don’t know why anyone would dust my eggs with dehydrated chives. Euw. And the English muffin tasted, well, musty. The music is great, and I can see Trader Joe’s from here. I’ll be back, because pleasant service and quick food trumps weird for me any day :)

My second visit to this diner. You’ll be served like a local yet treated like a special guest. Great place to eat in town w ample parking. Both times have been for lunch but will be planning my breakfast visit soon. Grab a seat at the counter or enjoy outdoor seating nice to have options. The turkey wrap was w real roasted turkey and warm sweet potatoes. Love that many local food producers are highlighted by Miss Portland.

Great food, good service, and a nice, quick line. None of that ‘wait for two hours’ nonsense. This is where to go when the snooty places are too much… in fact, I’m just heading here first next time.
I also loved their treatment of a Veteran and his service dog. They gave them a preferred place to sit and wait and brought a coffee while they got the table ready. Very classy.

I came here with my boyfriend and his mom a while ago but just realized I never wrote a review. My boyfriend and I both had the Sausage Gravy Biscuit because that’s his mom’s specialty and while it wasn’t quite as good as hers, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. They used Italian sausage instead of the traditional breakfast sausage, and I found myself liking the unorthodox choice a lot more than I expected. The gravy was flavorful, and the biscuits were rich and buttery. It came with two eggs, which were perfectly fried, and home fries which I honestly don’t remember at this point. All in all, for $ 8.75, it made a very satisfying and filling meal for a reasonable price. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere can’t be beat, as the restaurant is located in an old-​fashioned diner car. I would definitely come again!

I guess we just keep hitting this place at off times, judging by the other reviews here. My son and I ate here this morning before our kayak tour. It wasn’t great. The server was kind and working hard, but the kitchen was very slow. We waited over 30 minutes for our fairly simple egg dishes. Then when mine came out, it was wrong; the do-​over eggs were under cooked, as we’re the «grilled» onions in them. The hash browns were blah and the toast was over toasted. Certainly not a breakfast experience worth the $ 28 we paid. I don’t think I’ll give Miss Portland another chance.

Father’s Day morning the squeeze and I were feeling some brunch to-​go, unbeknownst to us most of the breakfast locations (actually pretty much all of them) either don’t do take-​out, don’t do it on Sunday, or weren’t doing it on this past Sunday because it was Father’s Day. The only place available to calm our take-​out needs was Miss Portland Diner.
We’d never been before, the diner thing didn’t really catch my interest, so this was a first for us. The only reason I’m giving them three stars instead of fewer is because they were super friendly, helpful, and accommodating even though they were absolutely swamped. We waited an hour for our food, but they told us to expect a wait time of 45 – 60 minutes, I appreciate their honesty with that and we were fine doing our own thing.
What I’m most disappointed about was the actual food, I’m hoping maybe it was because it was so busy, but if a restaurant can’t keep up food quality with traffic then that’s a problem. I ordered the ‘Bayside Breakfast’ which comes with two eggs, french toast (or pancakes), bacon (or sausage), and homefries. I mean for only $ 8.99 it’s a good amount of food, and they burned the bacon like I asked (don’t judge me, I love bacon burnt to a crisp). The homefries were way undercooked, they were hard and crunchy with not much flavor, the eggs I ordered poached had cooked centers and were completely unseasoned and bland, and french toast was plain. Honestly the best thing about it was the burnt bacon.
I hope we just went on a bad day, but I’m not sure we’ll be running back.

Beautifully preserved Worcester diner. We stopped in for a drink and were delighted to find them promoting as many local establishments as possible including dairies to breweries. I had an Ishmael from Rising Tide Brewing Company, a company of which I had no prior knowledge. There is a dining room area, but to the right is access to the actual diner. Please eat in the diner, it is a treat you don’t want to pass up. Everything looks and feels so old and well-​preserved, it’s like stepping back in time.

Eggs Benedict are awesome! Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it is a little cramped in there. Other than that, awesome food and great service!

We were staying in Old Orchard Beach but stopped in here on the way to the breweries in Portland. This place is wonderful. It was so good we came back the next day for breakfast, even though it was a 30 minute drive in the wrong direction we were heading.
The menu had a lot of variety but wasn’t overwhelmingly big either. The food tasted fresh and wasn’t heavy and greasy. I loved that the syrup was 100% pure maple and not the artificial kind. I’m not a coffee drinker, but my family commented that it was some of the best they’ve had.

We make this a must-​stop every time we are in Portland.

Eggs Benedict is my favorite, but today I chose the flat bread breakfast pizza and I LOVED IT! How about Whoopie Pie Cake? Awesome coffee too.
Taylor was a very cool waitress. Always a good trip to Miss Portland Diner!

This has been the BEST breakfast I’ve had on this New England vacation!
I ordered:
Omelet with mozzarella cheese, peppers, mushrooms and spinach. So fresh and amazing! Rye bread! The BEST on the planet! You MUST get rye bread here.
Breakfast potatoes came with it and were wonderful!
The coffee… amazing! The best diner coffee I’ve ever had!
Blueberry cake: ahhh the best ever! Melts in your mouth!
My son had the buttermilk pancakes. He loved them. Fresh strawberries on the side. Fresh! Not in syrup.
My daughter had the waffles. Fresh and homemade! Awesome!
My husband had eggs Benedict. He said they were solid, but not the best he’s ever had. And he kept stealing bites of my rye bread and blueberry pancake.
My meal, however, was pretty much the best breakfast I’ve had. I highly recommend this diner! LOVE!
