MAC Cosmetics

Go to Nordies. This place is dirty and is very poor Customer Service-​wise. I called them to see if they had the product I needed. They said they did. When I got there an hour later they didn’t even know what I was talking about and then tried to sell me something I didn’t need. This store is bad for the MAC brand.

The first time I came in Was last week, there was slow walking traffic and was treated super well. the artist gave me a sneak peak of the winter collection and scheduled me for a make-​over to try it and buy it. I walked out with some goods but wanted to come back for a friend in mind.
Today’s the debut of the line, I was scheduled for my eyes done and they skipped over me for a walk-​in. I’m sorry you’re chasing soccer moms in here, but don’t walk past one customer for another. And no, I won’t wait «like 8 minutes». There’s a make-​up store a block down on 23^rd that had a wonderful purple eyeshadow pallet I found, it’s local and were happy to take care of me. I came in for some quality care and left pissed!

Customer service is nonexistent. Rude employees who catered to customers that looked more affluent apparently. I asked about having my makeup done and they said yes for a $ 50 purchase. No problem I had read that policy in researching and my daughter had hers done just a few months ago. They then come back and say it isn’t a purchase but a fee. Ummm, what? No thanks! I won’t be back!
Haha, so glad they were jerks. I ended up going to the Mac counter at Macy’s at Lloyd Center. Renee did a great job on my makeup (no charge) except the need to purchase $ 50 in products. I ended up spending $ 116 and received a $ 20 Macy’s cash coupon! Laughing all the way back to Macy’s!

I absolutely love MAC products, but the girls at this store are extremely rude! Every other MAC store that I have been to the girls are always extremely helpful and friendly, but not at this location. They say behind the counter and just stared at us, and when we asked for help they acted like it was an annoyance. I would rather drive 20 min out of my way to shop at the Bridgeport Village location than shop at this store.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this store! The staff was super friendly and honest with helping me find the perfect shade for my skin tone.
I bought a creamblend blush and the staff had even taught me a few application tips to make the pigmentation of the blush more subdued and less bright! As a tourist from California, I thoroughly enjoyed that one of my favorite makeup stores was tax free! Thank you for the makeup tips and for being so helpful!

I LOVE Mac, but the service at the 23^rd ave one was AWFUL. The lady straight up avoided me, she walked the long way to other customers to not talk to me. I kept looking at her trying to get her attention and she finally helped me find the lipstick I wanted. Then when I told her what I wanted, she got it out of the drawer and then proceeded to help a new customer and completely ignored me for over 5 minutes and left me standing at the register, even though there was another on shift. I just walked out without getting my lipstick :(disappointed and NEVER going back there.

I love MAC! I worked for them many years ago in Hawai’i. This store has really friendly helpful staff compared to the ones in department stores (but department stores are usually understaffed).
The reason I docked a star is the selection. Granted they are in a tiny location but pigments other pro stores have are not available here.
Also if you need something specific, call ahead and save yourself the headache of parking. They are very pleasant on the phone. I traded in 6 of my empties for an eyeshadow (something the department store counters don’t offer) and got a beautiful pearl glide eyeliner.
I wasn’t wearing make up that day and they didn’t treat me any different (some make up stores I feel like I need to get dressed up to shop there…).
Hopefully they will carry more pro stuff (like the reflects gold glitter I’m obsessed with) or just more in general. But that probably won’t happen till they get a bigger storefront.

The sales associates at this location always help me find exactly what I want, even when I’m not positive what I’m looking for. They are patient and willing to try out five different lip colors to find the perfect one.

I really, really wanted to like MAC. I think that their sales team is super kind, and this review is not a reflection of their efforts.
MAC is still using animal testing as a normal means of making their cosmetics. This is completely insane to me, and I’m not sure why so many celebs who endorse PETA are also endorsing MAC.

Ok. I am not a make-​up person, so it is almost hilarious that I am writing a review for a make-​up store. But, what I really want to do is write a review to highlight how WONDERFUL and KIND the STORE MANAGER of this location is. I SO wish I was better with names right now, she was from the Berkeley location previously… which I remember because I went to Cal Berkeley myself. Anyways, I had to give a TV interview for a UK News Network regarding cancer treatment/​health care and she helped me get all set up since I normally don’t put much makeup on at all and I am not exactly feeling my best these days. She was super patient, helped me pick out really natural looking pallets, made up a «how to» sheet for me and walked me through the whole thing without an appt. She was extremely gracious and kind and you just don’t run into tons of people like that in this world all the time, especially in retail situation. So, this is my official online thank you to her. Thank you! :)

All of the artists here besides 2 give or take the day are the most friendly, talented, helpful people I have ever encountered at any MAC (including nordstrom counters). I defiantly recommend everyone coming to this location for all of your makeup needs !

A wonderful thing about aging is having your skin freak the f**k out and mine did just that. I’m in my mid 20s now and my skin just isn’t the same as it was when I was 18. I recently went through a terrible hormonal break out and realized the foundation I was using was not helping (looking at you Bare Minerals, PS it has LEAD in it. LEAD!!!). I tied like hell to find something at Sephora and after they pointed me towards a $ 60 bottle of foundation I had had enough. $ 60, are you kidding? No way in HELL am I paying that much! I decided to give MAC a try since I sampled a gf’s foundation and really liked it. MAC has a reputation for being heavy handed but that’s not the case at all. I went in expressing my skincare concerns and how I was interested in the Mineralize liquid foundation to the gal working and she confirmed that yes, Bare Minerals has lead in it and assured me none of their products contain any lead. I tried it on and loved it the only problem was that they were completely out! Blergh. She sent me home with a sample and I’m on a list when their next shipment comes in but after the second time I went in there to see if they had and they didn’t I figure just order it online. Not a big deal now that I know exactly what I want. Besides their products totally fitting within my budget and them being helpful, this store is beautiful and I could seriousllllllly drop some dough on makeup even though I wear the bare minimum! They also do classes and events so I can’t wait for the next one!

I’ve been buying M.A.C since I was a teen. They work on my skin perfectly. My favorite product is their concealer, more specifically Select Moisture Cover. The NW 25 tone covers any imperfection in my skin. Now I’ve been trying their Mineral Concealer, I was surprised to find out that it also comes in NW 25. I like it very much so far, it distributes better than the other one.

M.AC. it’s like the mothership. Is that what it stands for?! Mothership [of] All Cosmetics? Either way that is what I have dubbed it.

Your mind will be blown with the array of color variety and products. Tis true I was once an all around MAC person… aka I used nothing but their products… but sadly their pressed powder it a bit too much for my skin. Haven’t used it in years; not sure if any ingredients have changed but I’m sure there are tons of different options now if you have sensitive skin.
Other than that you can’t go wrong here. Their constant rotating Viva La Glam line is nothing but show stopping. The high pigment eyeshadows and lipsticks are amazing and long lasting. I recommend their different shades of eye primer too!
The gals that work here are always super helpful and I’m always jealous of how darn good their makeup looks. Flawless!
Seriously can’t leave this place without splurging just a tad.

I’ve gone here twice to have my makeup done. I would have happily paid the $ 50 charge for the makeup application alone — the face that I get $ 50 worth of product as well? Icing on the cake.
I’ve lived near the M.A.C. store for years but was always too intimidated to go in — I needn’t have been, as my experience with the sales girls at this location has always found them to be knowledgeable, approachable, and very skilled at what they do.

Made a $ 150 brush purchase a few months ago and have to say, the brushes live up to the hype. Got four shadow brushes and a foundation brush. Everyone says it but it is true: good brushes are a makeup artists’ tool and they are an investment. Crappy brushes and crappy technique = crappy face. A little technique goes a long way with great brushes. My next purchase will be the pencil brush.
This location also does events, if you’re interested in that. You sign up with your email and they’ll let you know when new lines come out and you can go preview/​pre-​shop before the dregs have their chance. Love this location (near Kiehl’s and Lush, Beauty Bar, Starbucks and Two Tarts!), love the store and products. Haven’t had too much interaction with SAs. I usually have a good idea what I’m going in for and have a ticking parking meter.

M.A.C. products are high quality and long lasting.
The sales associates at this location (on more than one visit) are only moderately helpful and friendly.
I was ready to spend some cash on a «new look,» and I asked for suggestions for new eye and lip colors. The associate only made 1 suggestion for each. I ended up buying both the eye color and the lipstick and have really liked them both, but would have been willing to buy more if she’d shown any real interest or offered more guidance.
I can’t help but wonder: is it because I am 40-​something and therefore not their target market?

If you peruse my photos posted here on Unilocal,you should be able to figure out quite quickly that I know absolutely NOTHING about cosmetics. The last thing I wanted to do today was drag my ugly mug into a make-​up store, but I needed a practical, useful Christmas gift for my youngest daughter. I know she uses this stuff because I overheard her talking about the MAC store the other day. I started going on and on about the iPad and the MacBook Air and my progeny’s eyes started rolling. «Not THAT Mac store, DAAAAAAAAD! Duh.»
Anyway, I was expecting similar eye-​rolling ‘tudes when I stomped my motorcycle boots into this store, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted with a friendly smile and when I asked if I could get a gift certificate, there was no hassle. I’ll never have any personal knowledge about the quality of MAC products, but they seem to understand the meaning of the word service. The young ladies in this shop were all super nice and friendly. I thank them sincerely for helping me scratch one of the most difficult shopping chores off my list this year. Thanks!

I know MAC isn’t considered local, but one day when I was insanely desperate (I’m talking level 3 pimple on the chin), many discussions with multiple friends led me to MAC, a makeup brand I had never used.
So what better time was there than this, and at the new NW 23^rd location, even, to try it out?
Though again, not local, this MAC exudes the high-​end, hip but funky feel of 23^rd, and does so in a way that has me welcoming them with open arms.
The girls in the store are cute, and I should add, super nice, and instead of trying to peddle a bunch of merchandise I didn’t want (or need), my salesgirl explained to me that the only thing I would need was a concealer that matched my exact skin tone, and perhaps some make-​up remover wipes (the same one she used).
I actually ended up saving money, as opposed to going it alone and buying God-​knows-​what in attempt to hide the monstrosity on my chin.
