So much fun! Got to be comfortable, watch a movie, drink some beer. And I was treated like a grown up. The staff know their beer and gave great customer service. If I’m ever in Portland again, I’ll stop in.

This place is pretty cool, nostalgic that’s for sure. It is recommended as one of the best romantic things to do in Portland. My husband and I came here as part of our 35th wedding anniversary celebration itinerary. We started off with drinks at the bar. We ordered our food with the drinks and asked for the food to be brought to us when the movie started. There is no waiter service once your initial order is brought out to you. The theater rooms are small. The seats are not as big as I expected them to be and do not recline. The«trays», in between seats, to hold your plates of food, are quite small. It all worked though. Just know it is not your typical modern luxury theater. I did love being served on real plates. Even the popcorn comes out served in need nice white deep bowls. I ordered the chicken panini, it was really tasty. The bread was toasted to perfection and the filling mix was very well seasoned and delicious. My husband ordered the mushroom pizza, he enjoyed it. I tried a piece and thought the crust could have been a little crispier but overall the pizza was good. Um… the popcorn, well it was pretty much… the best! I think I want to go back just for that, evenly buttered to the max, lightly salted and perfectly fresh.

I was here the first time for a movie. I thought the bar was cute. But the theatre was dirty. We were in 5. It looked like the aftermath of some wild party. Littered floor, suspicious white stains on the seats. Maybe because of the $ 5 Monday special. Maid’s day off?

A nice café to go to on a Friday night and hear live music. Solid menu with lots of interesting options. I got the pork sliders, fries and a salad, everything was excellent quality. I got there around 8 pm on a Friday and it was very crowded, but by 9:45 pm it was fairly empty. Pick your vibe, whether it’s bumpin’ or chill, the LIving Room Theater café is a can’t miss.

Wandering the Portland streets on autumn night, a short walk away from Powell’s stopped here for a movie. No trailers or commercials played before hand the movie started 20 – 30 minutes after the original showing time The restaurant/bar space creates the real mood live music jazz on that night

A nice little movie theatre with super comfortable seating and food and drink options to come watch an indie or older flick on a rainy day. It’s super close to the huge Powell’s, so if you’re visiting Portland and bummed out on a rainy day, come by and watch a flick, then head over and read books all day long! My only complaint about this place would be that the actual quality of the theatre isn’t the best, the screens are pretty tiny, and I feel like there’s always so much outside noise, from people constantly talking throughout the movie to the sounds of people eating and banging their cutlery together. There’s also a very limited movie selection, so if you’re looking to watch the newest flick it’s not the greatest place. That being said, I think it’s a pretty unique and cool experience, and on Tuesdays it’s $ 5 tickets all day, and normally only $ 7 for matinée tickets with a student discount, so I would definitely say stop by and catch a movie if you’re visiting the area or if you find yourself around there!

I was looking for a different movie experience for our Portland road trip(having had a very positive experience in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse), and I was very happy to find that the Living Room Theater is just like it! They also have a restaurant/bar space outside the theater if you choose to not watch a movie. The only difference is that they offer slightly older movies(not brand new releases). It actually worked out perfectly because we ended up watching 2 movies(on separate days since they changed the movie line-up while we were there) that we had originally wanted to watch but didn’t get to in theaters.

This is only a review for the food! We were poor planners and didn’t get seats ahead of time on a busy Friday night. Oops. But we were hungry, and the food selection seemed Ike a decent option. The pulled pork sliders were disappointing, and the sauce was sticky. The steak skewers were good in theory, that sauce was the best! But the pizza was the worst. Tasted like the way a damp room smells. I don’t know, but if all pizza tasted that way I’d wear a size 2! The majority of our food was lukewarm. Our servers were nice, but we were put into the first booth which is a bit like eating in a cubicle. I guess it could be seen as romantic? Who knows. The popcorn looked great and the beer was good,‘so maybe just stick to the typical movie theatre fair.

Sadly, Living Room Theaters has started showing commercials before the trailers and the film. I hope that management will consider running the commercials(Starbucks?! Ford?!) prior to the posted film start time, which is when the trailers should start. I’ve deducted a star from my previous rating because of this development.

On a normal vacation trip I would never expect to go to a movie, but I’m so glad we decided to come here! We came on a Tuesday so tickets were only $ 5 each(holler). We grabbed a couple homemade ginger ales, a large popcorn, with butter, hello, some red vines and sour patch kids. I’m pretty sure it was like $ 20. Plus the $ 10 for the movie, amazing. Popcorn tasted fresh, but the ginger ales seemed to be missing something. They lacked flavor which was disappointing. Weird that literally no one checked our tickets when we walked back into the theater… Loved choosing our seats ahead of time, and found them to be roomy and comfy. Totally enjoyed every bit of our experience!

Love this place ! Great place to watch movies with flair ! They offer food services while you watch your movie ! When you walk in you walk into a full bar and restaurant. The drinks are great and reasonably priced considering it’s a movie joint ! It’s a great place to hide from the heat ! We all know us portlanders don’t have A. C! Love this place for date night ! Overall vibe, food, and service is great !

I heard that the food was bad but you know what? For the price of everything this place kicked butt. Pay $ 5 for an independent movie. Also go during their happy hour for their $ 5 meals. A $ 5 pomegranate martini. For just $ 15 you literally get dinner and a movie. Kick back and enjoy! Sweet deal.

Reviewing solely just on the food. Ambiance was nice, service was alright, although pretty empty on a Thursday late afternoon. The guy serving us was super friendly, he would just disappear for long periods of time and we didn’t know where he went. We ordered the pulled pork sliders, and two pizzas(meat lovers and chicken prosciutto arugula). The chicken prosciutto pizza was the best thing I had here. More like an individual pizza, it had great flavour and tender meat. Meat lovers was alright, nothing worth to remember. The pulled pork sliders were dry, lacking some kind of bbq sauce! It’s created differently than I expected, and had balsamic vinegar(or soy sauce?) drizzled all over the mini sliders, giving it a weird taste combined with the burger bread and dry meat slices. Perhaps another night would have been better!

My fave place to catch an offbeat fiilm and the best happy hour in town for my money. But shhh let’s keep that a secret. The last movie I saw here was the academy award noms for animated short. I love the in-movie service and think $ 10 is a great value for what you get here. I wish parking was better downtown but lately(for hh) we ride the streetcar, that works out well.

Sometimes if you just pick and area of town and get lost you can end up getting really lucky. We were kind of in the area and trying to go to the Multnomah Whiskey bar. Unfortunately since we didn’t have reservations they said it would be a 2 hour wait(um not happening). So we chose to leave and find somewhere we would could consume alcohol without falling asleep before we got a drink. Fortunately we stumped on this place. We decided to go in becsuse they 1) had this jazz quartet playing 2) I could see thr bottled of alcohol through the windows 3) there were open seats at the bar. So we went in and ordered a round. Friend ordered a Manhattan and I ordered an Old Fashion. Now here is the good part 1) I didn’t realize this place was actually I movie theater so I have got to come back to watch a movie 2) the bartenders were super friendly and made us feel instantly xomfortable. 3) Our first round of drinks only cost $ 14, say what. Yes that is as much as 1 drink a lot of places in Seattle. I think that about sums up everything you know about this place. Next time we come back we are going to see a movie here and if they have comfortable seats and will let you drink in the theater I am updating my review to 5 stars.

They’ve got a good thing going on here. First, it sort of is like watching a movie in your living room. There are big comfy chairs and couches and coffee tables to set your food and drink on. And you can get beer and what not, which is old hat now. What place doesn’t have beer? Hell, even Regal Cinemas has beer. But Living Room Theaters does you one better. They have a full bar. I had a Spanish-freakin’-Coffee last time I was here. But wait, there’s more! They have a FULLRESTAURANT as well. Not just popcorn or pizza. You can order food from a proper menu, and when your order is ready a waiter brings it out to your seat in the theater. How’s that for happy slacker fun? I like this place.

Cool little venue to watch movies. We went on a Tuesday so it was only $ 5 for a movie.(Mon & tues are discount nights) We ordered french fries and a popcorn and both were delicious. The staff were very friendly! I appreciated that you order your food and then they bring it right to your seats. I also liked the fact that you can pick out your seats as you purchase the tickets so that way you aren’t in a rush to try and find a good seat!

Such a great theater! Great location(right by Powell’s and Sizzle Pie!), your choice of seats, small room and comfortable couchy seats with armrests that can be raised up and pushed back if you’re on a date(wink wink!). They show some foreign language films too, so that’s nice. Oh, and you can order food so they come deliver it to you during the movie — how cool is that?! Big warning, though: the bathroom mirror is a one-way mirror; I’m not sure if the guys can see into the women’s restroom, but we sure can see the other side! Can give you a bit of a heart attack while you’re adjusting your hair, to see a dude walk by staring straight at you.
