Food courts in shopping malls appeal to me at times because they’re cheap, fast, cheap, there’s a variety of choices, and they’re cheap. OK, that pretty much emphasizes the main reason why I eat at food courts occasionally. Kelly’s Cajun Grill is one place I’ve been to several times at different locations because it seems like they’re located everywhere. Typically, you get to choose an entrée and two side dishes. Bourbon Chicken is probably the most popular choice there, but I usually choose Lemon Chicken for my entrée because it ALWAYS seems to be their listed«special» and is cheaper than the other entrees. It consists of boneless pieces of breaded fried chicken with a lemony flavored glaze. I’ve had it a few times and usually it’s pretty good, but sometimes the pieces are a bit crunchy like they’ve been sitting around for awhile(after all, it is MALL food). My side dish choices are usually mixed vegetables(so I can have a somewhat balanced diet) and their big chunks of skin-on fried potatoes. I appreciate that their mixed vegetables includes broccoli.. .a «superfood». Also, I actually like the chunky potatoes a lot because they’re nice and browned. For this particular visit to the Kelly’s Cajun Grill at Lloyd Center, I made the mistake of choosing beans and rice instead, and they tasted old and stale. I won’t make that mistake again. Anyway, whenever you’re in a mall food court and can’t decide where to eat, I can suggest Kelly’s Cajun Grill to get big heaping portions of food for a small price.

There is rarely. A wait/line, so it’s great if you’re in a hurry and want to grab food fast. The food is average, not great. The one exception is the steamed vegetables, which in my opinion are excellent. The combo meals are very reasonably priced. One complaint that I have is the Bourbon chicken is always over-cooked. Of course they have to ensure it’s thoroughly cooked, however, not over-cooked to the point where its tough or even hard/crunchy on the outside.
