Working with Kassab jewelry has been nothing short of amazing! My fiancé had a custom engagement ring made in Washington, but it was too difficult to get back there to have my wedding band made. Not a problem for the team at Kassab! Right when we walked in we met Penny, who acts as if we are her only customers. She texted us updates throughout the ring making process, and made us feel right at home. She had my engagement ring cleaned for photos and gave us all sorts of advice on jewelry care and men’s rings. We will definitely be lifelong customers of Kassab thanks to Penny!

1 word of advice for ring shopping: Penny. Penny was patient, friendly, warm and efficient. I don’t think i knew it at the time, but in hindsight, the feeling of not being «sold» but that she was on my side, looking out for my best interests regarding price, size, look, rather than trying to push the biggest or most expensive product.
I’ve been places where any friendliness felt forced, or like the salesperson was doing you a favor. Not with Penny. She taught me as we went through the process, so I am not just completely satisfied with my new ring (stone lost in old ring) but much more educated!

Penny Kelly is simply the best. We went to Kassab for my fiancée, he was not successful in finding a ring he liked. She was patient and quickly assessed what he was looking for and found him the perfect ring before he ran out of steam.
And she found the right wedding ring for me, too! After shopping for months for the right wedding ring to match my very unique engagement ring, I had given up hope. But Penny (effortlessly) found the perfect solution.
She went above and beyond when the ring was not quite right and fixed things immediately. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Her eye and her instinct are impeccable.

Well, if you are anything like me, you don’t know the first thing about diamonds and let’s face it, jewelry. That’s ok, right? Just go online and do some homework. Or go to any jewelry store and ask.
Ask any man that has gone through this process and they’ll tell you one thing: the people in most stores don’t really feel like they’re there to help you. You get the sense you aren’t being told the whole truth and deep down, you know you are being cheated somewhere.
Not at Kassab. And I’m going to let you in on a little secret: there is no one better in the business than Alyssa. The moment I walked in, she immediately sat me down, asked me some really high-​level questions to get the process started and then, we were off to the races! She showed me settings of all kinds and I asked her tons of questions around metals, styles, designers, sizes, etc. At no point did I feel like I was asking a dumb question and I gotta admit, she made the experience kind of fun.
Men, your loved one is going to be thrilled with whatever you get but it’s only natural to feel a little worried about your choice. What better way to make that choice than to have someone like Alyssa guiding you every step of the way?
After selecting my top choices for settings, we moved onto the diamonds. Here again, I was able to ask everything I wanted and at no point did I feel pressured one way or another. The decision was mine alone. But if I needed another opinion, I had it.
When we priced the setting and stone out, I felt like Alyssa had performed a magic trick. The price was very reasonable for what I got.
And the good news kept coming. I popped the question and my girlfriend (now fiancée) said yes! She loves the ring and she says she sometimes «gets up in the middle of the night just to look at it». That’s about as glowing of a review as one can hope for. This is all due to Alyssa and Kassab Jewelers.
If you aren’t convinced yet, think of it this way. You will spend 2 – 3 hours with whoever ends up selling you a ring. And yet, the ring will be with you and your sweetie for the rest of your lives. Why not spend those 2 – 3 hours with someone who is trustworthy, really down-​to-​earth and will seriously give you the best ring buying experience?

I did a fair amount of research online to determine what type of stone to purchase for my engagement. This is also where I stumbled across Kassab since they have an entire section on how to choose the best diamond (color, clarity, etc).
The reviews spoke for themselves so I went in and had a 30min~ sit down with Alyssa. She got an idea of my budget, what I was looking for, and helped make the entire process ridiculously easy. She even helped work around my short time frame to ensure the ring was ready by the time we flew out for Hawaii. Compared to Kay/​Jared/​etc, there’s no contest. Alyssa was knowledgeable and helped find the perfect stone for my budget and all of the qualities I was looking for in my diamond.

Amazing experience does not do the experience I had with Penny Kelly of
Kassab Jewelers justice. Was shopping for a surprise engagement ring for my girlfriend. I live in NYC, and there was a specific Barkev engagement ring that I had my eye on that I knew my girl would love. After much searching, the only place I seemed to find the ring was: Kassab Jewelers in Portland, OR. I was worried how I could make this work since it was a surprise engagement and, like i said, I live in NYC. So I called Kassab Jewelers and spoke with Penny Kelly. First of all, you can tell right away that she absolutely loves what she does and it’s not all about the dollars and cents with her. She got me the absolute best deal on the ring. But more than a sales rep, I wanted to propose soon but all my credit cards were maxed out… so guess what? Penny was able to act as a liaison to a major credit card company and I was able to secure a credit card because of her (with 0% interest for 13 months if I may add). And with the additional credit, I was able to pay for the ring in full, thus speeding up when I would receive it. Penny knew it was a surprise engagement so she made sure to only contact me via email and when it came time to send the ring, she made sure to sent it when she knew I would be home to grab it the morning mail to keep everything a surprise. Everything worked like a charm. Finally the perfect moment came when I was at the beach with my girl, the sun was setting, no one was around… we had the whole beach to ourselves and that’s when I got down on my knee, the tide splashing up against me and took out the ring.

Needless to say everything worked like a charm and my fiancé and I are very happy. If you are an out of state buyer like me, no worries, Penny Kelly of Kassab Jewelers will 100% take care of you.

We had a great experience purchasing our wedding bands from Alyssa at Kassab Jewelers. Alyssa was very nice, personable, and not at all pushy. We went in knowing exactly what we wanted: my husbanded wanted tungsten and I wanted platinum. She showed us a few options we didn’t know about and ended up going with her recommendation (cobalt for him and white gold with inset diamonds for me).
Kassab is honest and has a wide variety of products. We felt the prices were fair and the service was amazing.

My fiancé (soon to be husband in just two days yayyy) designed my engagement ring here and couldn’t have more good things to say about everyone there, especially Penny. When it was time for us to look for a wedding band I knew right where to go. Penny was so quick to responded and had so much knowledge that helped me through the process. You can tell she cares about meeting the customers specific needs. She made the buying rings process so enjoyable for both our rings. Ok story time: But I’ll cut to the chase and won’t make anyone read the whole thing just to relay the fact that hands down, best service and quality work that Kassab does… its personal, its memorable, its perfect — the ring and their service! Coming from the Central California region and thinking about trusting a jeweler I would work with remotely was a brand new idea to me. We met manager Penny on a visit to the Portland area now almost a year and a half ago and got us started with looking at possibilities for custom work. It still wasn’t quite time yet but fast forward to May 2015, Penny remembered everything and we picked up right where we left off almost a year ago then, I was amazed that she remembered our names, our story, our design, it was all there, nothing needed to be repeated and I was just stunned. In the design process, between Ratany, Alyssa, and Penny — they were all incredible help over the phone since I didn’t live in Portland. My favorite quote that I’ll always remember «Honey I’m buying these diamonds as if they were mine.» And I and knew felt just how sincere she was when she said that. She found the perfect diamond, made magic happen with a ring design that was almost impossible to custom make, and the team at Kassab Jewelers made it happen. I couldn’t be more grateful for the expertise, help, and service that we will never forget. I loved the ring, she loved the ring. These guys are awesome! I am trying to sell my sister Engagement ring and I needed the GIA report. Knowing that I wasn’t going to buy anything they still helped me out. They gave me all the current information on the ring and told me what’ve should sell it for on an open market. The staff went above and beyond! Robert Simpson spent extra time with me not only giving me the current value, but some tips and tricks to sell the ring. This is the kind of customer service that is hard to come by these days. They could have easily told me they were not interested or couldn’t help me, but they didn’t. I can’t say enough about them. When I do end up looking for a ring my self I will make sure to stop on and check them out.

I cannot explain to you how disappointing this jeweler is! My now husband purchased my engagement ring from Kassab. Ratany Ouk was his sales person. From the beginning the experience started off great for Michael and he was very pleased. Diamond selection, ring selection, customizing with Tacori and etcetera. Here’s where it went south. Michael proposed to me in April and I received my gorgeous ring! One problem… my ring was a little too tight to get over the knuckle but fit perfectly at the base of my finger. My finger ended up swelling to the point of my ring being impossible to remove from my finger from the constant chore of trying to take my ring on and off. If I may digress for a moment Ratany was the one who suggested to my husband that we go a ½ size smaller vs. going with the ring size he knew worked. We traveled to Portland from Seattle Wa to have them look at my ring. Michael called Ratany to let her know I would be in and that he wanted me to look at wedding band options for both of us. When I arrived they attempted to work my ring off my finger, however my knuckle was just too swollen and by that time cut up (let me clarify my knuckle was swollen and cut up prior to coming in from me trying to remove my ring). They proceeded to cut the ring and literally pry it off my finger by pulling on the ring and spreading it as wide as possible until it was so disfigured and misshapen. It literally brought tears to my eyes to see the mangled diamond and platinum mess. Everyone around me seemed to be jovial and laughing like this entire experience was no big deal, all the while I was quite distressed and very upset. Perhaps for them its a normal daily activity to cut and spread rings apart however for me it was my first, only, and hopefully last time. After the very botched removal I then I started asking questions about the integrity of the basket, head, prongs, accent diamonds, and etcetera. As I asked the questions It felt as if they were talking down to me, getting annoyed with my constant questions of concern, and continued to tell me it would be taken care of by Tacori, who will make their decision as to re-​making or just repairing. I specifically asked for them to re-​make the ring given it’s current state but they continued to be short with one word answers which really amounted to more stress, doubt in their abilities, and uncertainty for Michael and I. In the same visit I also inquired to look at wedding bands for both my husband, and myself per the earlier call Michael made to Ratany. Ratany spent no more then 15 minutes with me and seemed extremely dis-​interested in my business which is disappointing given my husband spent a lot of money and time on my engagement ring. I really thought that she would be excited and interested in helping me but unfortunately that just didn’t seem to be the case. Nonetheless I still asked for some follow up from Ratany in regards to the wedding bands for the sake of comparison and cost. We didn’t receive any information for nearly 4 weeks regarding the wedding bands until after my husband asked her for the information again. Further more she did not update us as to the status of my engagement ring. My husband had to call and email her each and every time to get updates from her as to the status of repairs with Tacori. This brings us to present day, March 11 2015. My ring is now back with Tacori. This time we took it to LT Denny in Seattle who is the oldest Tacori dealer with impeccable customer service. The owner is working with us and helping us through the new prong issues. As Tacori is evaluating my ring they informed us of several things. We learned that Tacori did not set my diamond. The jeweler at Kassab set my diamond and it sounds like the jeweler filed the prongs and basket down too thin ultimately creating integrity issues. We now have to pay additional money to Tacori to have the head and basket re-​made. I am fine with paying it at this point due to the fact we WILL NOT have Kassab work with my ring again! We are further more resolved to pay Tacori as Kassab became completely unprofessional more so non-​existent after the original sale of my engagement ring and diamond. Therefore we unfortunately have no faith that they (Kassab) will do the right thing this time around. I would be careful if you choose to shop Kassab. The best advice would be to please do your research and meet other jewelers! We are willing to say that Kassab might be a legitimate jeweler; perhaps we just came across the wrong Sales Person. It is really unfortunate that the experience started off great for Michael, but after all the money passed hands, there was just a night and day difference with the customer service. It’s just sad that this all came to be in the manner we are now writing about. It’s really just sad and disheartening. Ultimately we are elated with Tacori and their staff, they definitely go above and beyond.

My fiancé and I had a terrible experience here last weekend. We went in to get wedding bands, and were greeted by the manager. She was a bit overbearing and «salesy» for us, but not a huge deal at the time. Where it went south was when, in discussing ring width, she made a homophobic comment about «Not wanting people in Portland to think the wrong thing about me» based on the size of the ring. All she had to do was say «Men typically get rings that are at least Xmm wide. But she wwent out of her way to say something we both found hateful.
And if that isn’t enough for you: We found the exact same ring across the street, at a store full of nice people, for more than $ 200 less.

My fiancé and I were visiting Portland and walked into Kassab on a whim. She tried on rings and found the engagement that she loved. Our salesperson was absolutely wonderful while we were in the store (emphasis on «in the store»). Since we were from out of state, I had to continue communications with the salesperson via phone and email.
All in all, I quickly became very disappointed and irritated. I felt like our salesperson started brushing me off whenever I would call to inquire when I would get the ring and to ask why I didn’t have it when she said I would. I spent a good chunk of money on the engagement ring and was made to feel like an annoyance when I asked my questions. I’m a really understanding and easygoing person, and all she would have had to do would be to take my phone calls and communicate the status of my order. Good thing I didn’t have any time-​sensitive proposal planned based on the initial timeline she gave me.

Penny and the jewelers at Kassab were so great at helping me redesign my grandmother’s outdated ring into something I absolutely love! Every step from first meeting to the unveiling was super fun. They worked hard to make my budget work and put together a ring that far exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much!

PENNY helped us put together the most beautiful ENGAGEMENT RING!
We’re from Seattle and decided last minute to take a trip to Portland. I gave Penny short notice (1.5 days) and she somehow was able to ship in some loose diamonds for us to look at on a Sat. Got to choose from a DOZEN that were within our price range and the specs/​criteria I gave her. We were looking for a round 1.2ct-1.5ct. All other places we went to only had 3 – 5 diamonds for us to look at and just weren’t impressive. My favorite setting was one I saw at EE Robbins… she also had it shipped in as well! Their prices were better than chains stores in Seattle and with no sales tax, we were able to get a big stone with great quality!
Penny goes above and beyond, is patient and honest. I am so so happy with our ring! My only negative thing to say is that this ring is so beautiful that it’s a distraction while at work and driving haha.

Back around 2009 my dad and I went mining for Opal in Nevada, and Sunstone in Oregon.
I brought some very nice pieces to Kassab’s to custom make some jewelry. The first contact with the store was the only good part. The young man who helped me showed me some earrings and ring setting for a pair of Sunstone Emerald cut earrings, and a large emerald cut cocktail ring, along with a Opal necklace I created with added diamonds.
Once my pieces were sent to the folks in Seattle it was all down hill. No time frame, no phone calls 3 weeks later letting me know the status. I had to call and find out they were ready. Then who ever they used to cut the Sunstone did a terrible job. The Schiller which was strong in the piece, was not cut according to Sunstone standards. Know if the cutter didn’t know how to cut Sunstones, they should have just said so.
I ended up with a 3 KT ring and a pair of 3kt earrings. The opal turned out lovely, but the service was horrible.
I should have to call every 4 weeks to find out what’s going.
I forgot I also had Alexandrite custom set here in 2007 and that took forever with no follow up either!
I guess I didn’t learn my lesson, but now I have.

Mom and I took a girls trip up to Portland for a few days and stayed down the street from Kassab. So glad we got to cross paths with Ratany! She was incredibly helpful and patient and was able to quickly figure out exactly what we had in mind and provide some really options and help educate us on some of the different things to consider.
Even weeks after our trip she’s stayed in contact and been quick to respond to any requests and questions I had and was able to locate stones that we were interested in. Couldn’t recommend her more.
The store has a ton of different settings with CZ on them rather than actual diamonds. I thought this was really helpful to be able to try on more rings than regular stores have because they were set with CZ vs. with diamonds. Jewelers just can’t realistically have that larger of an inventory with real diamonds, so it’s a great place to go if you are just starting to ring shop and need help getting a better idea of what you and ask for Ratany, cause she’s AMAZING and will be able to help you find exactly what you want.
