Zelda’s Shoe Bar

The new space on Alder is light and airy, and it seems to have influenced the entire spirit of the place. Gorgeous shoes, of course. Yes, expensive — but beautiful. Overall, Zelda’s has stepped up its game with a nicer, happier feel.

The shoes I got had a manufacturing error. I asked for some assistance. It took awhile because their contact page on their website actually does not work. It was active on their website, but apparently the emails go no where when you send it from the contact page. After some calls and other emails, they offered to have the shoes fixed. I didn’t hear from them for almost 2 months. After emailing twice to inquire about my shoes I was told they couldn’t fix them and i could come pick them up. They did not offer credit, an exchange, a discount, or anything. Sigh.

Went into Zelda’s Shoe Bar at 1:30pm on Thursday Sept 4 to buy a couple prs… had a hankering for retail therapy and pick me up. The clerk (shorter woman, short red hair, glasses) way too busy chatting up her customer to even give a hello to myself (or anyone else that walked in after me either).
I understand taking care of your current customer at hand but to completely ignore or give snide looks to the other customer/​s looking to spend $$$$ on shoes that day is pretty frustrating and demeaning. So I took my $$$$ over to big box retailer Nordstrom– they were more than happy to help me. FYI I was the shorter brunette w short hair and black sweater.

I am so confused by this place. They had a nice selection of boots but not one available in my size. Every shoe had a tag on the bottom listing what sizes they had left. I have seen this in sale sections of shoe stores but not for every single shoe. I went in there ready to spend money and left disappointed. They lost a customer ;-(

So, when I travel, I almost always end up buying something I don’t really need, but end up really loving. Like the bag I bought in September at Zelda’s. Buttery leather, beautiful tan color, and, bonus, on sale. The saleswoman was super helpful to us while we were in the store, and I had a great experience shopping there.
Fast forward a week. I’m back at home in Atlanta, beloved bag by my side. I went to pick up the bag and the handle completely came apart, dumping my things everywhere, and leaving me with what was essentially a giant clutch bag. Not good people, not good! When I got home that night, I emailed Zelda’s to let them know what had happened. By mid-​day the next day, I had a nice note back from them, expressing their horror at the bag failure, and asking me to ship the bag back — they’d either repair or replace it. They were able to repair it in about a week, and shipped it back to me good as new.
So, yes, yay, I’m a fan. Thanks for the beautiful bag, and the matching customer service.

Mmmm shoes. I love that new shoe smell: I got a big whiff yesterday at Zelda’s yesterday.
I have been on the prowl for a specific style/​color for a few days now. The thing about Zelda’s is that it is a fancy little boutique. You will find a few (emphasis on few) really nice shoes and styles there. Another thing about the shoes at Zelda’s is that the heels are not high enough. I am not looking for stripper shoes, but I do like high heels. Those sensible shoes are just not for me.
You will not find rows and rows of styles and colours like you will at a place like DSW or Macy’s. And the prices, even the sale prices, are fancy. The one pair of shoes that I would have settled for were on sale for $ 349.00. I am looking to spend no more than $ 100.00, and I don’t want to settle. I want the perfect wedge sandal in grey. Summer is practically over after all so why spend a ton of money on something I will not get to wear a lot?
Zelda’s has a very limited selection of beautiful, high quality shoes and is worth a quick peek if you happen to be in the neighborhood. But I would not make a special trip, especially if you have a certain style in mind.

DO NOT GO TO ZELDA’S! I wish I could give negative stars. They are rude old bitches. I know, those are mean words for a shoe store but I have been there three times and they treat me like an invisible street lady every time. The last time I was there the haggard old bag wouldn’t even look up from her paper to greet me. I looked around for bit, picked up some shoes and even commented on how cute they were yet I GOT NO RESPONSE from her. I thought that maybe that was their approach to customer service but while I was there 2 women in their 50’s came in and that sales clerk all but gave them back massages. The selection of shoes is fine but not anything that you can’t get somewhere else and the service is only good if they decide that YOU are worth it. Fuck those old ladies and they are the reason that no one with any real style wants to shop on 23^rd.

Ok so I’ve been dreaming of purple suede boots for about 6 months. I assumed I would never find them in Portland. I happened to be on 23^rd and thought I would just pop in for a quick look and low and behold there were here just waiting for me. Dark eggplant and above the knee. I get compliments everytime I wear them. Great selection of boots, shoes and purses. Lovely sevice that matches the lovely selection.

I love this store! So many fun and unique styles that you won’t find everywhere. The shoe prices equal the quality, and I have never had to «break-​in» a shoe as the quality is top notch! I get compliments every time I wear anything purchased at the store, from the shoes to the clothing.
Libby and Katie are so friendly and will give you the straight scoop on the items. They are also great with remembering their customers! I can’t say enough about this store — it is my «go to» for any occassion. Shop here if you want to stand out!

Who is supposed to shop at Zelda’s? Cause clearly I am not she.
Zelda’s walks this fine line between «funky» and «matronly» (aka boring) and «classy» that I’m not particularly fond of but probably my mother would be. And that’s good, right? My mom’s gotta buy shoes too!
They’re all really well-​made, lovely shoes and are priced accordingly. Zelda’s is good for a browse, but rarely a buy.

Zelda’s Shoe Bar is an itsy bitsy teeny weeny shoe boutique, carrying a fairly limited selection of shoes for your stylish feet. The prices are… gulp…spendy, since Zelda’s only carries designer labels. If only they took the bar part seriously and served martinis, I just might fork over the extra dough after being a little tipsy!

Cute shoes unlike those found at your typical department store. The selection is somewhat small and prices are high (but not higher than average for what you’re getting).
I love to stroll through this place and covet all the lovely shoes and imagine me taking them out for a good time on the town.
