Havana West

Havana West is the current name for the place that used to be known as Hal’s Tavern. Looks like they got rid of the l’s Tavern part and added the vana West part. Nothing else has really changed here. Or at least it doesn’t seem to have changed from what I could see.
I had only been to this place once when it was Hal’s. Liked the place fine enough. Seemed like an old man/​dive bar to me. That’s not a bad thing. I just like to look at some girls on occasion and that didn’t seem to be a place that attracted too many woman. On the other hand, Havana West seems to do just that, so there is something that seems to have changed. Again, I’m basing this on the one time I went to Hal’s. I could be way off here.
It was late on Sunday night and after hitting Holocene for some music, the hungers starting getting to myself and my friends. I don’t normally like to eat late at night, but I was too hungry not to. After trying 2 other places that weren’t serving food we wound our way over here. They were still serving albeit only appetizers. Fine. Food is food or at least it was on this night. You’ll find all of your fried foods represented here. Most will run you about $ 5.95. We had cheese sticks, jalapeño poppers and chicken wings. Nothing was spectacular, but nothing was horrible either. This is fried food. You know what you are getting and it probably isn’t going to be anything to write about. Yet here I am writing about it.
I guess their main menu has changed a bit from the old Hal’s menu. Or at least I think it has. I see advertisements for this place in the Mercury or Willamette touting their burgers. Guess I’ll have to get back and see what that is all about.
