History

Established in 2009.

I worked as a caregiver since I was in high school. As time went on I began housecleaning and organizing on my own and in 2009 Gratitude Assistance was born. In a way I am following in my Dad’s footsteps – he ran a home-​care business for 15 years. He taught me the value of deeply caring for his clients, I feel lucky to have witnessed this as a model for my business.

Hello, my name is Kelley and I am the owner of Gratitude Assistance, LLC. I’m a true Portland native. After going to Oberlin College for East Asian Studies, and living in China the last semester, I happily returned to Portland and settled here. I enjoy creating art and music, studying spirituality and various healing modalities, and being an aunt to 10 nieces and nephews!

Kelley has an amazing sense for organization and making spaces look and feel beautiful and harmonious. I had her help me with some major interior renovations (i.e. decluttering and optimizing the layout of rooms) and really valued her input while brainstorming. She also happens to be an artist and had a great eye for where to hang art in my home.
She’s very even-​keeled, attentive and thoughtful — very relaxing to be around and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her high degree of professionalism and integrity as well, not always an easy thing to find in the world of freelance assistants. I will definitely employ her services again.

.gosh! I hired Gratitude Assistance for housekeeping and I’m glad I did!
I wish I would have taken before and after photos of my cottage!!! Kelley and Brandon came over and met me and my dog. I showed them around and they immediately got to work cleaning my cottage.
Kelley was clear with the cost, what they could/​would do and gave a pretty dead on estimate of how much time it would take for the first cleaning. They use all natural cleaners and bring their own gear. She emailed me when they finished and sent the bill. (paypal is method of choice for payment)
When I came home and saw how awesome my cottage looked I wanted to invite every single person I’ve ever met over right away so they could enjoy a dog hair and crumb free environment! SO GORGEOUS!
I have hired them to come over every other week. And, yep, I’m full of gratitude!

Working with Kelley is both an enjoyable process and a result-​driven, practical activity. We focused on my craft and storage areas to prepare me for a move. Kelley is a sensitive listener, particular aware that parting with items may be emotionally challenging. She is very gentle with her suggestions.
When I worked on this project on my own, I was shocked in how little I got done in two hours – specifically two shelves. With Kelly working with me, I was shocked that we got four more shelves, a closet, and half of a cabinet sorted and organized.
She helped capture some specifics that I can do between visits and sent me the list via email.

Kelley was extremely helpful to me. She visited my home office twice and in those two visits, got more organization done for me than I was able to do in three years. Her approach is very organic — she will walk with you through your work day to find out how you actually are going to use your space and then start working right then and there. She even had a portable vacuum and dusting cloths and cleaned while she organized! Totally worth it, and I can’t wait to move to Phase 2 of the project.

I highly recommend Kelley’s services. We had four separate appointments over five months and worked for three to four hours each time to clean out and organize my two-​bedroom, two-​bathroom condo and the garage. She is an expert in the field, who has a great process. She asks how I use different items or categories, so the arrangement of everything is as convenient as possible. Making the new space attractive as well as functional is one of her talents. At the end, if something can be reused, she takes the bags to Goodwill. She carries out all of the garbage and recycling. Not having to deal with all of those items is a big relief.
Kelley has tremendous energy and yet also has a calming presence. She has a natural gift for organizing and making spaces visually pleasing. I can’t thank her enough.
