Eyes At Bethany Village

Heading into eyes at Bethany with 2 small children both needing exams was a little nerve racking! But Dr Paul we so great with them it was a breeze. Both kids loved the experience and their new glasses will be ready for their first day of school. I highly recommend Eyes at Bethany for their clean and spacious office and knowledgeable and friendly staff !!

We have had one of the worst experiences with «Eyes at Bethany». We got our daughter’s glasses made with them in Sep’14. In June’15 when we went to our Doctor for follow up, the doc told us that the glasses are not as per the prescription. The error was also not a small one but rather a huge one. In the meantime our daughter’s eye condition worsened and the doc wanted to find out if the worsening is because she was wearing the wrong glasses. So the doc wanted her to be switched to the right glasses ASAP. We went back to the shop explaining the issue and they agreed to redo the glasses. We called a week back which was the ETA for the new glasses only to find out that the glasses are still not ready and it will be 8 more days before we get the glasses. Their explanation was they decided to call back the doc to verify the prescription because the prescription is not clearly written. We have the original of the prescription with us and there is nothing in there that you cannot read. And even if they really wanted to verify the prescription there was no reason to have wasted a week for this — when it was important that to get our daughter wearing the right glasses soon, which she has not been wearing for 10 months because of «Eyes At Bethany» mistake.
Too disappointed with their process and their way of dealing with customers, while we still await the receipt of the right glasses.

They are focused on up-​charging you here. They may also parade you out to the reception area to have the receptionist help with the up-​charging of some new product he’s hawking. It has not been a good experience for people close to me. It’s worth a few extra minutes to go elsewhere.

Great job, from reception, to eye exam, to glasses choice and fitting. Very happy with my first bifocals (eek!!). Good experience.

My family have all been patients at Eyes at Bethany Village for the last 6 years. However, notice that I wrote in past tense. We have left this practice after years of staff turnover, what used to take 3 days for contacts to come in when ordered has been getting longer and longer even though full payment has already been made (last month my son’s order took 3 weeks!).
And the final straw for my family was this week when I phoned in and requested to have a copy of my contact prescription to be ready for pick up (so that I could order through Costco since my child’s order had taken over 3 weeks and I wasn’t going to order through Eyes at Bethany again). My husband picked up the prescription, which was handed to him in a sealed envelope, the next day. He went to Costco to place the order and was unable to because the written prescription in the envelope had expired last month. The Eyes at Bethany staff didn’t provide that information to me when I requested it nor did they tell my husband when he picked it up. What a waste of time for my poor husband.
I phoned into Eyes At Bethany and explained the predicament. She was well aware that they gave my husband an expired prescription. When I asked why they would do that she said that the prescription I had on file was expired. So I then asked why they didn’t provide me with this information when I phoned in and requested it and her response was that they simply provided me what I asked for. She went on to lecture me… saying things such as «how were [they] supposed to know that I wanted to fill the prescription elsewhere» and «you’d be surprised how many people ask for a written prescription just for their files». I was appalled by her lack of apology and that she was actually trying to put the blame on me. Especially when I asked her why they wouldn’t tell me that the prescription was expired and I was due for my next exam and she responded again that they «didn’t know what I wanted the prescription for and they gave me what I asked for».
When I let her know that my entire family would be leaving the practice as a result of the declining service, her response was «OK». And the call was over.
Dr. Wehner is a nice man. But nice doesn’t make up for decline in service, lack of professionalism, and just awful customer service from staff. Our business has now been taken elsewhere.

I’ve gone to Eyes at Bethany Village for years and have always had a great experience. They explain everything to me and educate me about eye health and always happy to answer any questions I’ve had. They are definitely experts and are always up on anything new in the field.

I have had very good experiences at Eyes at Bethany Village. Dr. Wehner, the ophthalmologist, is up on the latest equipment, including a machine that looks into your eye to see 80% of the inside of your eye. Very cool. He has also balanced my eyes (one near sighted and one far sighted) to allow me to see better and read better than I ever have. I would definitely recommend him to others.

I did not have such an experience as the first person… Went in there with a prescription from another place. They were courteous and helpful. Like all (non-​Costco) places, their glasses are EXPENSIVE. However, I’ve had it with Costco: They USED to provide quality glasses and service. And although their service is cordial, they don’t take the extra step to ensure that what is ordered will actually work. Worst of all, the quality of their glass is atrocious. The last time I went, I had to return the glasses — they simply didn’t work.
Back to Eyes @ Bethany: They took care of me and the glass I purchased are THE best I have ever had. By far. So, if you want quality, then this place works just fine.

I read the reviews below and feel I need to give a different perspective. I’ve been going to Dr. Wehner since he opened his practice at Bethany back in 2003. He is awesome. He has told me more about my eyes than I ever would have probably wanted to know. He’s very thorough, caring, and knows what he talking about. He’s very upfront about costs that may not be covered by insurance and it’s YOUR DECISION whether to have that exam or not. He will not try to sell you lenses or contacts that you don’t need. Even if you do need them, he doesn’t force you to buy them at his facility. But he’s honest about whether you need them or not. Can you say the same for the Mall stores? And Jennifer… shame on you for thinking an appointment a YEAR later is a «follow up» exam.
I have highly recommended Dr Wehner to many people and will continue to do so.

I really wanted to like it. It’s close to my house. It looks small and nice. I like supporting these Bethany businesses.
I tried it first for an eye problem. The receptionist was snooty both over the phone and in person, which was a little weird but I pushed through. I then waited for over 20 minutes with no one else coming in – the place was dead.
I eventually saw the optometrist, who charged me $ 80 to tell me to go spend $ 12 on eye drops that didn’t help.
(By the way, an opthamologist – a real eye doctor who actually operates on eyes – found issues that he described as «seriously concerning» and was shocked an optometrist told me to «just use eye drops!» I’d be concerned about your eye health with this place!)
92 bucks down the drain – my eye problem no better for it – and a few months later, you think I would have learned, right?
Alas…apparently not. I still wanted to give them another shot and thought my first experience was probably a fluke – it’ll be great next time, right? I called to come in for a follow-​up appointment a year later (a different receptionist was there) and was REFUSED service if I did not pay for a full eye exam even though I had already had one. Yes, REFUSED. In capital letters.
I am still in shock, but please – don’t make the same mistake (s) I did and try going to this place. Even if you think it would be handy cuz it’s close to home. Even if you think «How bad can it be?»
Don’t waste your precious time or your dollars, friends. Peace out.
