Extended Stay Properties NW Portland

I came to Portland for a temporary work assignment and I stayed in the 1 bedroom McCormick Pier property for about 5 weeks from mid-​September to mid-​October of this year and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. Rob was incredibly helpful and responded quickly to any questions I had. Payments were processed weekly on my credit card and the deposit was refunded in a timely manner.
As for the property itself, it was beautiful! The condo has every amenity that you could want in a place. From a fully stocked kitchen, to towels and linens, to a very comfortable pull-​out bed and 48″ LCD TV, to the expansive views of the Willamette River right from the living room and balcony, which is a perfect place to have your morning coffee and enjoy the sunrise… The property was just top-​notch. My only complaint is that I couldn’t stay longer!
When I return to Portland, I will not hesitate to stay in one of their properties again.

No stars is not a choice, so one was chosen. These are suggestions if you rent the room at Honeyman Hardware Lofts leased by Extended Stay Properties NW Portland. First, prepare to be pressured to extend your initial, mandatory 30 day rental period, before you even check-​in, by the hard sell, repetitive email from the landlords stating that other tenants are planning to book the minute your lease ends, and prepare to receive the same message after checking-in…the whiff of desperation by Extended Stay landlords to try to keep the loft rented to pay their lease is understandable after we stayed there.
1. Insist on a check-​in and check-​out walk-​through of the loft with the landlords to document the condition, normal wear, and itemize anything not nailed down, if you want your deposit back otherwise you may lose it to false accusation of damages and theft
2. Purchase insecticide spray to at least stun, if not kill roaches, because pest control is not provided by Extended Stay Properties NW Portland
3. Purchase air freshener to mask the odors of cigarette and «other» smoke wafting into the loft from the hallway (in this «no smoking» allowed building)
4. Purchase ear plugs and an eye mask to mute the cacophony of all night gear grinding and diesel engines of the convoy of postal trucks at the intersection right outside loft’s panel of windows, and to decrease the glare of the 24 hour parking lot lights at the post office shining through the flimsy blinds
5. Plan on a non-​interactive mode when exiting the main door of the lofts to avoid any wrath from the multitude of transients that you try to ignore or decline giving money or cigarettes to, and though most of them are harmless, you will experience some screaming from the untreated mentally ill and substance abusers.

The landlords at Extended Stay Properties NW selectively neglect to tell prospective tenants of the location of the loft and its proximity to a large population of homeless people, again, most who are harmless, but to travelers not accustomed to living in or visiting an urban setting in a gentrifying area, it may be disturbing — nighttime, solo wandering in the vicinity of the loft is not advised by this renter
6. Plan on wasting a half-​day and many quarters to lug laundry to the basement’s coin operated machines and feel lucky to coordinate obtaining a dryer after using a washer, the cost to wash & dry is expensive, but the human and pet hairballs embedded in your clothes from the shared community experience– are priceless
7. Prepare to uncomfortably hear from the male landlord about how previous tenants were– we heard how one used excessive electricity to heat a loft in winter, and realize the next tenants will hear from the landlords about how we allegedly damaged the loft and stole a fridge bin, yes a fridge bin! Do mature, responsible adults, who pay eight weeks for rent, damage a loft and steal a fridge bin?! No, but the landlords unjustly stated my husband and I did, and we lost a significant amount of deposit money, because they have direct access to a renter’s bank account

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment at Hoyt 10 for 7 weeks. Rob & Heather are very detailed, responsive, and super accommodative. The room was exactly as described, the extensive list of household items provided really helped to make us feel like home. Best location in town for new arrivals: pharmacy downstairs, numerous restaurants and shops, three grocery stores within 10 mins walking distance, easy access to public transportation, convenient parking, safe neighborhood etc. Portland is an interesting city, I’m glad I started my new life here at Rob & Heather’s property. What a pleasant experience!

I have nothing but praise for Rob and Heather. Although I only met Heather for a brief minute when we were exchanging a coffee pot that went on the blink, my communications with them were wonderful.
I stayed at one of their properties, 10^th @ Hoyt, for 5 months. This honestly was the best place I have ever lived. The location is perfect, as was the property and management. The apartments are fully furnished just as they show in their photos. They have thought of every detail (I kind of wish they would help me with my condo!). The furnishings are not yard sales finds, but good quality, coordinated and tasteful. They supply everything you need including detergent for the washing machine and dish washer. Want to make fancy cocktails? They even have a full set up of bar tools. It is all high end and spotless. My friends that visited were very impressed. Full cable and internet is included.
There was underground parking available for an additional fee, which was very worth the price for me since I have a vehicle. A car is completely unnecessary in the Pearl though. The streetcar runs right outside the door, and there are Flex Cars and CAR2GO available if you want to drive. There are more restaurants, coffee shops, bars, boutiques and stores concentrated in the area than anywhere else in the city. There are 3 grocery stores within walking distance, and you are above a Rite Aid. They choose their locations very well.
I only wish I had been there during dryer months because the rooftop area is stunning. It has a hot tub, fireplace, large gas grill, and kitchen area available for the residents. I loved the view of the city, and the hot tub was relaxing.
They respond to emails very quickly, and if anything goes wrong, such as the coffee maker it is taken care of just as quickly. The check in and check out instructions are clear and they are available if for some reason you might need assistance. They promptly refunded my deposit after I left.
I had rented a furnished studio from another company for a month previous to this one bedroom, and there was no contest. Extended Stay Properties NW blew them out of the water in every way! I would highly recommend staying at their properties!

I was moving to Portland from the East Coast after having never been to Portland before. Since I didn’t know where I wanted to live, I was looking for a Furnished place to stay while I got to know the different areas. I stayed at the Freedom Center on NW Pettygrove Street from August-​November 2014 and it was wonderful! I was moving from across the country and only arrived with 2 suitecases. The apartment had literally everything you could ever need. It had all bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, dishes, etc. The unit even had a TV with a DVR! I was also there during the super hot summer and the unit had an air conditioner which was definitely needed!
All of my communication after my arrival was with Rob, and not only was his responses super quick, but he was also a pleasure to work with. The check in/​check out instructions were extremely clear. I was arriving late at night and had no problem getting the key from the lockbox. The photos Rob sent about my apartment was exactly the unit I stayed in– all the way down to the artwork on the wall. It was beautiful.
It’s walking distance from the major grocery store (Safe Way), the Bridgeport Brewpub– my fav, Lovejoy Bakers, and many other restaurants/​coffee shops that are all delicious! I didn’t have a car, but the Streetcar is located just a few blocks away as well as many buses. Downtown is also just a 20 minute walk on a nice day.
The Freedom Center had a young professional vibe. I would say most people at this particular location are between 25 – 40 which was perfect for me. I was very comfortable staying at the Freedom Center considering the fact I moved to a new city knowing no one. I would recommend anyone moving to Portland who doesn’t know the area to use Extended Stay Properties.

After getting less than impressive service from my corporate relocation contact, I decided to look on my own for short-​term corporate housing. Very glad I did. I stayed in early June for a few weeks at 10^th and Hoyt. Being from LA, I wasn’t sure what to expect but the location, building and room were excellent. Perfect location in the Pearl District and a 15 minute walk to my office in downtown. Walking distance to markets, restaurants, etc. Very clean, safe area with young professionals and retired folks strolling around, walking their dogs, etc.
Room was spotless and was fully-​furnished although I didn’t use 90% of the stuff offered since I ate out, etc.
The instructions for checking in and out were perfectly clear and easy to follow.
Very well-​run operation by Rob and Heather… we never actually met but all communication either by email or phone was seamless.
Only small hiccup was my rent was on auto-​pay via my credit card and the 3^rd party firm processing the payments continued charging me after my stay was over. Rob and Heather went above and beyond to correct the issue even offering to reimburse me in person with cash or check for any outstanding credit card charges.
I would highly recommend them for any corporate housing or vacation type stay in the Portland area.

We stayed at an Extended Say Properties NW Portland apartment in the 10^th@Hoyt building (925 NW Hoyt).
The building was perfectly located in the Pearl district. easy walking distance to restaurants, food carts, stores, galleries, museums, Powell’s bookstore, and more. We walked all around the Pearl and to other neighborhoods on the west side of the river.
The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated. It was well stocked with towels, sheets, pillows, plates, utensils, pots, pans, cleaning supplies, etc. There were big windows and plenty of light. The furniture and appliances all worked well, as did the heating and air conditioning (there was a heat wave when we arrived and it was snowing when we left so we had a chance to use both).
Rob and Heather did everything they could to ensure that our stay went smoothly. They provided clear instructions for arrival and departure, and responded quickly to our requests before our arrival and while we were there.
It can be nerve wracking to sign a contract on an apartment unseen. I asked them many questions (by phone and email) before selecting one of their apartments. We were fortunate to have a Portland friend who was able to visit the apartment to confirm that it was as good as it sounded. The posted pictures and videos were accurate and there were no surprises when we arrived.
We chose a larger one bedroom apartment with a north-​facing courtyard view, which was probably quieter than ones that faced the street. We also rented a parking space which is a necessity if you have a car; this is not included in the price, but the fee they charged is the fee that the building charges them.
We had a great three month stay in Portland. I would use Extended Stay Properties NW Portland again if I had the chance, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a place to stay in Portland.

I stayed in a unit at the Honeyman Hardware building when I came to Portland for work for a couple months. I wanted to be close to my new office and in an area with a lot of options for entertainment/​food/​drink and public transportation. Having traveled a lot for work over the years I’ve been in all kinds of accommodations from hotels to houses and apartments. This one really felt like a home. Of course it is not *your* home with *your* stuff, but it was great to come «home» every night and relax on the couch, make my own dinner in the kitchen (a real treat after 4 months in a hotel last year!) and enjoy the cable and wifi. The bed was comfortable, which is really important to me. Rob was really nice, helpful and flexible with my not totally defined timeline, which I always appreciate. I’d recommend them to anyone coming in to town for contract work or looking for a place to start out while looking for their long-​term home.

Rob and Heather are great host and take good care of their properties.
I stayed in a small studio at Freedom Center for six weeks after moving to Portland, which was very nicely furnished with every imaginable item you might need. The bed was comfortable, I cooked meals in the kitchen and enjoyed the great location in the Pearl. The pricing is also fair.
Highly recommended.
