I needed to have a suit altered, I also needed the suit ready in two days.
After taking the measurements and giving me his recommendations, he gave me the price and offer a rush service for an extra fee.
I dropped the suit at 4:30 PM and it was ready to be picked up by 10:30 Am the next day.
Not only did they do the job super fast but also did an excellent job with the tailoring.
I will continue to go there with my tailoring needs and would recommend European Master Tailor to anyone who needs an excellent tailor in the Portland area.

These wonderful people did an excellent job altering my tuxedo. Long story short, they surpassed my wildest dreams of removing the pleats and fixing the overall fit of my tux, bringing the style of this little suit into the 21^st century. They pinned it up, chalked it, and took it off my hands for a few weeks while they worked their magic. I was so very pleased when I got it back yesterday that I just had to write a review with a HUGE thank you to these truly magnificent master tailors. The price was appropriate for the amount and quality of work that they did, and they were honest in their estimate of the turn around time. I am 100% satisfied and will go to them for all of my tailoring needs. Thank you EMT… you are AWESOME!!!

Had my wedding suit tailored here a couple of years ago. Reasonably quick turnaround and looked sharp. They won’t give estimates over the phone, even for basic alterations, which is a bit frustrating. I called to find out how much it would cost to do a simple hem on a pair of jeans and I have to bring them in just to get a quote. If I hadn’t already had some good work done here, that would probably turn me away.

I was set to wear a traditional Indian sari for my wedding but realized that the sari blouse didn’t fit just 10 days before our wedding. I panicked and had the idea to deconstruct an old ball gown so that the top half of the dress could be used as a sari blouse. I realized this was an odd and difficult request but the folks at European Master Tailor were eager to take it on. They perfectly constructed a new top for me in just TWO days! I am so thankful for their great work!

I took three suits here recently to get tailored. The work is impeccable, despite needing significant alterations. You pay a premium for the work, but paying more for quality work that will last is worth the money. Highly recommended, and I will only use them for my clothes in the future.

I brought in six shirts, a sweatshirt, and three pairs of jeans, for repairs. The items ranged in condition from some that had huge blown out holes, to some more minor stuff.
Silvian and I discussed options for each garment, and he quoted me prices for those options. We decided a couple of the garments were not worth salvaging — but for many, there were options.
It did end up being a little bit expensive, but when I came to pick up my clothes (and yes, they called me back right around the time they said they would!) I was glad I did go with European Master Tailor.
They did a great job on all of the clothes — and in a few cases, succeeded in repairs that were desirable, more challenging to execute, and therefor not committed to. For some of the dress shirts, I was surprised to see that the mend was able to be done with such little visual impact, given the size of the rips that already existed when I brought the stuff in.
So anyway, it wasn’t as cheap as I was hoping, but well worth the money for some great quality repairs. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, and will return.

TIP: Great tailor with excellent skill, but be willing to wait awhile to get your clothes back… (approx. 3 – 4 weeks)

When it comes to clothes, I am a firm believer in the adage: «Fit is everything.» Unfortunately great fitting clothes come at a high price. I’ve found a loophole when it comes to denim though. Instead of spending $ 180 on designer denim, I prefer to buy a pair of Levi’s and have them tailored to fit my body for less than half that price. Problem solved.
A few weeks ago, I scored an awesome deal on a pair of jet black denim jeans. Waist fit snugly, but the baggy cut made me look dumpy. «No problem» I thought, «I’ll take it to a tailor.» After a few minutes on Unilocal,I stumbled upon European Master Tailor.
The shop is conveniently located downtown, right next to my cobbler (Derek’s). There was a line, so I patiently waited for my turn. I asked the tailor (who I’m guessing was Sylvan himself) to taper in the legs a little and shorten the length. He was really nice about the whole process, easy to get along with. He estimated that the job would take 3 weeks, which was fine by me. I wasn’t in a hurry to wear them. I paid about $ 40 for the whole job.
I returned to pick them up and tried them on. So. Much. Better! I was very happy with the results, and I’m curious to see what else he can do.

First of all, the prices here are too high and, secondly, the work they did was horrible. Silvian and the girl at the front desk were so unprofessional when I told them that they left a stain on my pants. They never apologized or acknowledged the problem. Instead of fixing the problem, they came with all kind of excuses. Stay away from this place if you can!

Dishonesty and unprofessionalism are the words that comes to mind when writing this review. Took my brand new jacket for alteration… three weeks later, they called me informing me that my jacket has a hole. Clearly, the jacket got caught with a sharp instrument. Instead of admitting their mistake, they found every unreasonable excuses. To make matter worst, they wanted me to pay them to fix the hole. They could easily resolve this issue by fixing the hole. And their prices are too high. Please, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I brought in a 10 year old Tom Ford suit. A might fine garment but a bit too large for me. Silvian expertly slimmed the coat and pants and save a virtual work of art by keeping this suit in the game. If you ever need any alterations to fine garments, please visit EMT and they will be the solution.

I needed two jackets tailored on a very short timeline and Silvian got them done even faster than he promised. Impeccable work — I’ve never had suits fit better. When my wife saw them, she said she didn’t want me leaving the house looking so good. I can’t recommend Silvian highly enough!

This place is very professional. Sylvian fixed a suit that another trailor nearly ruined.

Quality work. I chose EMT based on the Unilocal reviews as I didn’t want to take any chances with an expensive sport coat that was a few sizes too big through the body. The results were fantastic. Do recommend.

As careful as I try to be with things, I managed to rip a hole in the front of a favorite dress (with the hook on a hanger). I can sew some myself, but I took it in because I really wanted it to be done well. I tried not to think about it. They called me just a week after I’d dropped it off and they were done and the work was excellent. Just how I’d wanted it fixed. Highly recommend. I’ll definitely go back.

It has been 18 months since I first reviewed Sylvian and he continues to do outstanding work for me. He’s personable, reliable & professional, giving me the ability to send people to «my guy» with confidence that they will receive the same treatment I do…

Extremely satisfied with the results. Took Silvian an expensive sports coat and a two piece suit, and both of them turned out better than expected. Surpassed my expectations. Highly recommend him and his business, really knows what he’s doing. Definitely coming back.

I promised Silvian that I would write this as soon as I got back to my desk, as I was just so outdone with the work that he did on my blazer!
I had the great fortune of inheriting several high-​end clothing items from a family friend, with two of these being black Armani blazers. They sat in my closet for many years, as I wasn’t in to blazers until recently. Instead of going out and buying new ones, why not use the ones I had? I tried the blazers on and they both were too big. The blazers gave me a boxy look; the length was too long and the waist and sleeves were too big. I knew it would be a tough job to get done, so I came to Unilocal to look for a reputable tailor and that’s where I came across European Master Tailor downtown PDX. I knew the price wouldn’t be cheap, but what’s a few dollars on a timeless Armani blazer?
Silvian did his measurements and told me it would be 5 weeks (it was actually ready in about 4) due to the extensive reconstruction the jacket would undergo. I went to pick it up today and when I put it on, I was wowed! I couldn’t believe it was the same blazer I dropped off that was about 2 sizes too big! It fit me perfectly and beautifully!
I will be bringing my other blazer in as well. Is the work cheap? Nope. Is the work worth it? Yep … and more! After this experience, I would not dream of taking my high-​end clothes to be tailored anywhere else in PDX! Thank you Silvian for your hard work and thank you Unilocalers for putting me on to him!

Sylvian is by far the best tailor I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. I’ve been going to him for over a year now and I couldn’t be more happy with the quality of work he produces. On top of that, he and his staff are extremely helpful and willing to work with whatever situation you may have. I’ve come to him with rush jobs where I really felt he went above and beyond what a normal tailor would do. Everyone I’ve recommended to him have been equally as satisfied and impressed.
European Master Tailor is by far one of my favorite business establishments in Portland based on the quality work and exceptional customer service. It doesn’t get any better than Sylvian.

I brought in 5 pairs of pants to Sivlian. Three that were being taken in at the waist, hips and thighes, and two that were just a simple hem job. He had me try on each pair of pants with the shoes of my choosing, and suggested were the hem should be. He also made good suggestions on how much to take in on my bigger pants.
Two weeks later they were done, $ 97 dollars. Overall I was very pleased. The work he did was fantastic and fit just perfect. My only complaint was the amount of time he took, but I half expected that. The price seemed a little high, but I have paid very little before and was not happy with the work.
I will be back, but I won’t take any rush jobs to him.
