Devine Chiropractic

Note: This review is only for Dr. Kevin Lewis who also sees patients at this clinic. I have not met Dr. Devine so I can not comment on the services he provides.
I went there for a massage through a coupon bought at amazon local. Usually my experiences with coupons have been ok so far regarding medical services, eye checkup clinics etc. When I saw the coupon with massage therapist there, I thought maybe I can take a look at their chiro services if I am happy with their massage. The massage was ok, I felt relaxed afterwards. The front desk told me that I can set up a free appointment with a chiropractitioner as it comes with an offer with the massage coupon. I assumed it would be with Dr. Devine because thats the name of the clinic, so I thought I would give it a try because I have never been to chiropractic clinic and wanted to see if it can help me with my chronic back/​shoulder pains. I was so so wrong. First, I shouldnt have assumed that the doctor wud be Dr. Devine. On the day of the appointment, the front desk told me that they will take some experimental readings on me and next time the Dr. is going to discuss the plan of treatment for me. Thats when I came to know that my next appnt is with some other Dr. — Dr. Kevin Lewis. I was little disappointed but then I thought maybe I should still give it a try.
During my appointment with Dr. Kevin next week, he showed me my «treatment plan» for 36 visits (!!!) with 3 visits per week in the beginning. I was little surprised — why would I have to visit 3 times per week? Since I have never been to a chiropractic clinic, I thought maybe thats the norm. They took my insurance information the previous week, and based on my «treatment plan» the doctor recommended I do complete 36 visits to see total effect, and showed that apart from my insurance I will have to pay around $ 700+ for the entire thing. He took 1 hr to explain what good chiropractic does etc etc. He was not willing to discuss my physical condition (based on previous week’s readings/​experiments) unless I committed that I want to go ahead with the treatment plan (or maybe he was eager to get his 1^st payment before he rendered his assessment, so you see that the visit was not «free» after all, that the front desk claimed it to be). anyways I was surprised but still thought I should at least try one adjustment.
After the Dr. adjusted my spine, I didn’t get any immediate pain or soreness. But from the day after, I could barely walk — my lower back started paining so much that I went to my PCP and got pain killers and strong prescribed medication for nerves. I am still on painkillers and following up with physio therapy, specialist visit etc.
Horrible experience. My PCP and all other doctors and friends I have spoken to after this, told me that this is not the way chiropractic works. You go when you are in pain, pay the visit and get adjusted. The doctors/​staff should be clear about whats going on. This clinic’s staff didn’t even mention to me that my insurance is out of network with them (yes, I know I could have done the research before going there but it is also the staff’s responsibility to let the patient know before charging in-​network or out of network amount)…I went to another chiropractic at Hillsboro and the doctors and staff over there were super nice. I have visited them 4 times in the last 1 month after my terrible ordeal with Devine, and they have helped me a lot. Besides, I never felt I was being pushed to get treatment from there. The doctors told me that my previous adjustment @ Devine clinic did put pressure on my lower back and that caused some nerves to get irritated which is causing this terrible lower back pain. I went there to get treated but in turn ended up in being more sick. My experience with Devine Chripractic clinic has been very bad and I would not recommend Dr. Lewis to anyone.

Awesome place — great staff and very talented chiropractor!

It is refreshing to have a chiropractor that is interested in your entire self-​being, and not just your «back» (if you will).
Looking forward to an overall feeling of wellness.
