TLDR: Rude and low gold buying offer. Shop around and you will likely do better. I wanted to sell a gold bullion coin. The buyer examined it closely and offered well below market value. He showed me a nick that he said reduced its value below the metal price. I asked him to explain why a nick affects a coin used as bullion. He said it was too expensive to ship it for melting down. He then just turned and walked away from me and went back to his desk. He saw me still there and he said that’s my offer, come back if you want it. Hint: I shopped around to several other gold buyers. They all offered about the same price which was almost substantially more than Columbia and very much worth the effort to go elsewhere.

I enjoy going to this coin store. The owners are like the«Ozzie and Harriet» of numismatists. Very informative. And knowledgeable of social sciences, too. They enjoy the inquisitiveness of children as well. A great place to get your kids started on coin collecting.

BEWARE of this shop. If you are intending to sell coins to them, they will tell you a different price on the phone than when you come in. They are very deceitful. Get a name from the person you are speaking with on the phone, so at the very least they can’t shrug their shoulders and say the person you talked to isn’t around.

I am very impressed by the variety and quality of coins here. Its like a museum you can buy stuff from. There is definitely something for the small budget, or if you got a grip of money to spend on money, you can do that here. The prices seem comparable to the red book. Columbia Coin has so much history underneath those cases. I am all about coins and well that’s what this place is all about too, what a rad shop.
